Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: SNICKERS EXPRESS (4) had three starts during his freshman season and showed some potential against handy opposition. He is resuming since August and hasn’t been to the trials but he strikes a suitable assignment first up. KEAYANG MOSCATO (7) is a former pacer, which was heavily supported ($1-35 fav) at her trotting debut but she got it all wrong and finished unplaced. She worked home well for a close third at a Terang trial effort last week so she is worth another chance. KEAYANG FRANCISCO (2) finished second in the same trial at Terang last week and is capable of improving on her numerical form. CHILLHUNNYBUNNY (5) began quickly to find the lead, rolled along at an even tempo and was run down late when third at Bendigo last outing. She is improving with the benefit of experience and should give another forward showing.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: SNICKERS EXPRESS (4), KEAYANG MOSCATO (7), KEAYANG FRANCISCO (2), CHILLHUNNYBUNNY (5)

RATINGS: 4/ 2,7/ 5/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: SNICKERS EXPRESS (4) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: NIGHT WHISPERER (7) began quickly to find the lead and was able to hold his rivals at bay when he scored at Maryborough on Friday. This is a race of similar standard and he should be competitive again. MYSTERY FRED (6) showed promise throughout his juvenile season and made a winning debut this term at Terang, where he led early, was shuffled back on the markers mid-race and produced a strong finish. He is widely drawn but looms as one of the leading chances again. BOUTIKA (8) recently won five races in succession and was placed in a blistering mile rate of 1.56.6 two starts ago so she must be considered as one of the leading chances. HILLSIDE (4) has the early speed to gain a prominent position in the early stages and MAXIMEZ (5) is tough enough to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 7

SELECTIONS: NIGHT WHISPERER (7), MYSTERY FRED (6), BOUTIKA (8), MAXIMEZ (5)

RATINGS: 7/ 6,8/ 5/ 4/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: NIGHT WHISPERER (7) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: OCEANFRONT (4) produced a career best performance when she led out then took cover and gunned down Rocknlena in a handy mile rate of 1.56.9 at Shepparton last week. A repeat performance will see her going close to winning again. FANCY FREE (8) was beaten by a long way when resuming but this is a significant drop back in class and she boasts three victories in mile rates of 1.54.6, 1.54.9 and 1.54.7 so she would clearly be the horse to beat if she produced a peak performance. MAISIELOUISA (3) used the pole position to her advantage when she led throughout to defeat What’s Glenda Got at Mildura last outing. This is a field of more depth but she is worth thought again. FLEXI BET (6) and MY DARLING DANCER (7) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: OCEANFRONT (4), FANCY FREE (8), MAISIELOUISA (3), FLEXI BET (6)

RATINGS: 4,8/ 3/ 6,7

SUGGESTED BET: OCEANFRONT (4) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SPORTSBOU (8) is building up a consistent record and should prove hard to beat against this line up. She won easily in a mile rate of 1.57.7 at Maryborough then had little luck and did well after a wide trip at her latest close second behind Bona Khan. MISTER JIMARINGLE (4) hasn’t had much luck since a Maryborough victory in November and gets his chance to improve on his numerical form here. He hasn’t shown his gate speed for some time but it is a slow front line so he might be able to land a prominent position early in this event. ALFNALMA (2) was jogging up to the home turn but was held up badly behind tiring horses and galloped at Swan Hill last outing. She possesses a powerful finishing burst and appears to be well graded in this event so she must be respected. SILVER MYSTIQUE (5) is also capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1

SELECTIONS: SPORTSBOU (8), MISTER JIMARINGLE (4), ALFNALMA (2), SILVER MYSTIQUE (5)

RATINGS: 8/ 2,4/ 5/ 1,6

SUGGESTED BET: SPORTSBOU (8) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: MARKLEIGH CAZ (9) settled on the markers and held her own in a mile rate of 1.55.6 at Kilmore on Thursday night. She will find this assignment to be easier and possesses a powerful finishing burst so she must be considered as a winning chance. CELESTIAL ZODIAC (7) has performed strongly since coming from South Australia and appears to be hard to beat again. He finished off best to get up in a mile rate of 1.56.1 at Melton last outing. CLEM MCCARDLE (2) finished off quickly for a game second behind Skyfall Benchmark two starts ago and rates as a value hope. WYATTFLYNN (3) and DALLAS CHARLIE (4) are both racing well enough to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4,7

SELECTIONS: MARKLEIGH CAZ (9), CELESTIAL ZODIAC (7), CLEM MCCARDLE (2), WYATTFLYNN (3)

RATINGS: 7,9/ 2,3/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: MARKLEIGH CAZ (9) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: NO EMOTION (9) broke stride at the start and lost all chance when unplaced at Charlton last outing. He was placed at his five starts prior including a victory at Charlton on November 13 so he should prove hard to beat if he begins safely. GLENS OF TEKOA (2) has been freshened since a disappointing sixth at Shepparton in November. He led throughout to win at Maryborough prior and is drawn to lead again so he warrants consideration. JOHNNY REDCOAT (5) is backing up quickly from his performance at Hamilton on Sunday but he possesses early speed and should be prominent throughout. VERY TEMPTING (1) is drawn to receive every chance and BEAU BRONSKI (6) has the early speed to be prominent throughout.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4,5,6

SELECTIONS: NO EMOTION (9), GLENS OF TEKOA (2), JOHNNY REDCOAT (5), VERY TEMPTING (1)

RATINGS: 9/ 2/ 5/ 1,3,6

SUGGESTED BET: NO EMOTION (9) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: OBSYDIAN (7) settled midfield on the markers after commencing from the inside of the second line, made a move in the final circuit and battled on well for second behind Altatude at Kilmore last outing. He is widely drawn but is nearing his maiden success. DIAMOND MAC (9) settled five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the bell and hit the front at the 700m before being run down at the end when fourth at Bendigo last outing. Her last run was encouraging so she is worth a ticket each way. HES GONESKI (6) was confidently supported ($1-70 fav) and attempted to lead all of the way when fourth at Melton last outing. He missed out by a narrow margin when resuming prior and is worth thought again. SKADI (5) led out then took cover and missed out narrowly behind Fuego Cruzado at Bendigo last week. She is an experienced maiden but her past two runs have been encouraging so she is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 5,6

SELECTIONS: OBSYDIAN (7), DIAMOND MAC (9), HES GONESKI (6), SKADI (5)

RATINGS: 7/ 6,9/ 2,5/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: OBSYDIAN (7) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: BLACKRANGE GLORY (11) has a few gait issues but he was able to put it altogether when an impressive winner at Melton last outing and will take beating again if he delivers a fool proof display. ATABOY CHARLIE (5) has shown improvement recently and is worth an investment. He tried to sustain a long run when a game second at Maryborough last outing. This race is of similar quality and he is capable of going one better. CADENCE LANE (4) appeared to have every chance at Maryborough on Friday but she raced without cover throughout when a game third prior and should give a bold showing under these conditions. POPPY POPSTAR (7) missed away and lost her chance at Maryborough on Friday. She was racing consistently prior and rates as a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 4

SELECTIONS: BLACKRANGE GLORY (11), ATABOY CHARLIE (5), CADENCE LANE (4), POPPY POPSTAR (7)

RATINGS: 11/ 4,5/ 6,7/ 8,10

SUGGESTED BET: BLACKRANGE GLORY (11) to win
