RACE 1 – TURNERS FURNITURE ONE PACE – 1720 metres

 

TASTE IT – Broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared. Driver M Hawke reported that the mare’s shortener chord pin released during the early part of the score-up resulting in it breaking gait, given the circumstances no action was taken.

JARRAD SAID– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1400 metres.

LEXY CAN BERN – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from TASTE IT leaving the 1400 metres.

THAT LUVIN FEELIN Hung-out and broke gait rounding the first turn, given it was just the gelding’s third race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

IM NOT COMPLICATED – Over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event. Broke gait free of interference near the 200 metres, for which a warning was issued.

STUDLEIGH MELISE– Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 2 – HGH MOTOR GROUP PACE – 1720 metres

 

BABY BEE MINE– Post-race swab sampled.

CRIME TIME – Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.

NIFTY ROCKET MAN – Checked rounding the first turn, when OUR REBEL YELL broke gait.

UROC BABY NZ – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader near the 800 metres.

TACKAS PRINCESS – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

OUR REBEL YELL– Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait free of interference rounding the first turn, given the gelding’s record connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and would be required to perform 2 re-qualifying trials.

 

RACE 3 – POPPAS FUDGE FACTORY PACE – 1720 metres

 

CULLENS MAORI – Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.

IM MAJOR HARRY – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position on the marker pegs at the rear of the field approaching the 1200 metres.

ROLL ALONG JANE – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres.

BEAU STEELE– Pre-race swab sampled. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader leaving the 800 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 4 – SOUTHCON PACE – 1720 metres

 

DIXIEDOLITTLE – Shifted-out near the 200 metres, hampering NEPTUNES WARRIOR, Driver M Rue was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future.

ROLL THE SEVEN– Driver B Jones was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

TULHURST TERROR – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Post-race swab sampled.

ULAANBAATAR– Worked forward to take over the lead from GOLDEN ZARA approaching the 1400 metres. Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight. Shifted-out near the finish line taking RED ENVY NZ wider, resulting in it locking wheels with DIXIEDOLITTLE a short distance after the finish, Driver B Micallef was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Driver B Micallef was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the mare, in particular him electing to surrender the lead to VALIANT CHARGER leaving the 1400 metres. B Micallef stated that he doesn’t feel the mare is overly strong and performs best when it obtains cover in its races. He added that he had to work fairly hard to get to the lead and it appeared to him that the Driver of VALIANT CHARGER was keen to lead on his runner when it improved to his outside and given the pace they were travelling at that stage elected to take cover behind it.

VALIANT CHARGER– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from ULAANBAATAR leaving the 1400 metres.

LIZZADRO – Hung-out under pressure in the home straight.

 

RACE 5 – TIPPERARY EQUINE PACE – 2100 metres

 

ANYONEWILLDO– Pre-race swab sampled.

TIGER TOMMY NZ– Driver N Turnbull was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the minimum sectional time requirements for the first half of the last mile while leading.

HARDLINER – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

LIGHT UP BILLY– Post-race swab sampled.

CONROD KENZE – Declared a late scratching at 7.20pm by Order of Stewards acting under Rule 42(2) after arriving late on course. Trainer P Dennis when questioned regarding the late arrival, advised that he had an appointment that went over time, given the circumstances and P Dennis’ good record under this rule, he was issued a reprimand under Rule 41(1).

 

RACE 6 – TRIMECH MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

 

FLEUR BELLA– Post-race swab sampled.

OH SO TINNY– Broke gait free of interference near the 200 metres, for which a warning was issued.

RARIFIED MAN– Out of position at the start. Driver M Day was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to bring the geldingup into position at the start.

ZEBS ARWOC – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

TULHURST ROCKNROLL– Pre-race swab sampled. Hung-out after the start for which a warning was issued, as a result BLITZEM BENNY contacted its sulky wheel.

BLITZEM BENNY – Contacted the sulky wheel of TULHURST ROCKNROLL when that runner hung-out after the start and was checked and raced roughly.

 

RACE 7 – CHRISTY PARK MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

 

ULTIMATE BELLA – Hung-in after the start and contacted marker pegs, connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the draw. Hung-in and contacted marker pegs leaving the 1400 metres, for which a warning was issued. Driver T Gilligan was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the filly, he stated he was surprised that it started favourite given it was its first race start tonight and it hadn’t overly impressed him in its trial. He added that he was hopeful of a forward showing but the filly wasn’t capable of running the time the winner ran at this stage of its preparation. He further added the filly raced quite greenly tonight and he felt she would take benefit from the run.

MATATOA – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start.

LEAD ROLE– Pre-race swab sampled. Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Post-race swab sampled.

TULHURST SHARK– Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1400 metres, given it was the gelding’s first race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

EYES FOR DOLLARS – Inconvenienced approaching the 1400 metres when TULHURST SHARK broke gait.

LUCKY RAIDER – Broke gait free of interference leaving the 600 metres, given the gelding’s record connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 28 days and would be required to perform 4 re-qualifying trials. Trainer/Driver M Sullivan reported that the gelding lost its near hind shoe when it commenced to gallop and as a result he had difficulty getting it back pacing.

LINCOLN JAY – Broke gait shortly after the start, connections were advised that it would continue to be placed outside the draw in mobile start races. Checked and broke gait approaching the 1400 metres when TULHURST SHARK broke gait.

 

RACE 8 – TAB VENUE MODE 2YO MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

 

STUDLEIGH STARLITE– Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

THE SMIRKING GUN– Hung-out after the start for which a warning was issued.

LIMOUSINE CHEEKY – Broke gait after the start, given it was the filly’s first race start connections were advised that he would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races.

KAMIKAZE SCOOB – Inconvenienced leaving the 1600 metres when LIMOUSINE CHEEKY broke gait.

NOSAER – Inconvenienced leaving the 1600 metres when LIMOUSINE CHEEKY broke gait.
