Mr Day advised MAYWYNS LA NINA was able to obtain the lead relatively easy after the start without exerting MAYWYNS LA NINA at any stage.Mr Day explained MAYWYNS LA NINA performs best when able to lead its races on prior form when racing in Queensland & which the mare had did at its two (2) most recent starts in performing well in winning & running a close second.Mr Day added he did not give consideration to surrender the lead at any stage as he was confident of a forward performance from MAYWYNS LA NINA however felt the mare to be disappointing over longer distance compared to recent starts when racing over the shorter distances which it would be his intentions to restrict the mare to racing over going forward. Mr Day added the mare had broken its tongue tie during the event which may have had some contribution to the performance. After viewing the available replays Stewards felt Mr Day had erred in his tactics in maintaining the lead after recording a quicker than average lead time combined with the added pressure during the middle stages of the event as the mare was racing stronger opposition to recent starts & advised Mr Day he was expected to show greater judgement going forward.
