SPEEDY SPORT– Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

DEEBO– Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the tactics he adopted in particular in the middle stages of the event, if there was a possibility to work forward to a more forward position when the tempo in the second quarter had eased (32.2 seconds).  He stated the gelding is new to the stable and has shown in the past to not be able to do work in the early stages of the event and races best when driven with a sit.  With this in mind although the tempo had eased he elected to race near the rear of the field and considered the gelding to finish the race off satisfactorily.  Stewards accepted J Turnbull’s explanation but advised that Stewards would expect the horse to be driven in a similar manner in future starts.

CRACKER MISS– Held up over the concluding stages.

RACE 3 – TRIMECH PACE – 2100 metres

HIGH QUEST– An inquiry was opened into the reason the mare appeared to hang in when entering the first turn tightening the running of BATED BREATH.  After taking evidence from drivers Jason Turnbull and Jett Turnbull and viewing the available race day footage Stewards were of the opinion that when shifting down the track Jason Turnbull (HIGH QUEST) prior to entering the racing line of BATED BREATH (Jett Turnbull) has attempted to straighten his runner and in doing so HIGH QUEST has over reacted and shifted down the track causing BATED BREATH to contact the sulky and be checked.  Considering HIGH QUEST’S racing manners the mare will be given its last chance to race truly.  Driver Jason Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying his whip shortly after the start until entering the first turn has done so with more than a wrist only flicking action and using overt force.  Considering Mr Turnbull’s record in relation to this rule his license to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days and was also fined the sum of $400.  The seven day suspension is to commence from midnight 17 October 2024.

INGERMARLA– Passing the 900 metres had its inside sulky wheel contacted and sustained a flat tyre when JILLIBY GIZMO who was over racing improved onto the wheel.

MISS BALLET– Pre-race blood.  Trainer/driver P Sapio was queried on the perceived improved performance of the mare.  He stated with the mare being down significantly in grade in tonight’s event and from a good barrier draw he was confident of a forward showing and with an easy lead the mare performed up to expectations.  Post-race swab.

PARK RUN– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Inconvenienced passing the 1200 metres when the pace in the running line had eased.

LA BOMBA– Inconvenienced passing the 1200 metres when the pace in the running line had eased.  Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
