STEWARDS REPORT FOR YARRA VALLEY

MONDAY 21 OCTOBER 2024

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – MANHARI METALS 2YO MAIDEN TROT (2150 MS)

BRASSAVOLA – Broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  The filly then broke gait twice prior to the 1600m and was pulled up.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right foreleg and the filly has been stood down from racing for a period of 7 days and pending a veterinary clearance.

SKYTE– Tired to be beaten 118m into 4th placing.  Given margins established by placegetters, the colt has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.

KARBINE– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m and has now been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RACE 2 –MANHARI METALS 2YO MAIDEN PACE(1650 MS)

Race start time amended to 2.38pm.

ANGELS WATCHING– Tightened on the first turn by Major Crunch, resulting in the gelding being checked and racing roughly.  Inconvenienced on final turn by Major Crunch.

MAJOR CRUNCH– Hung out and broke on the final turn, placed on last chance to race truly.  Driver Connor Clarke pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR 165(1)(b) with the particulars that approaching the first turn Mr.Clarke allowed Major Crunch to move towards the inside running line when not the required distance clear of Angels Watching resulting in that gelding being checked and racing roughly.  After considering HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines, Mr.Clarke had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days.

ORSOME DIVA– Inconvenienced on the final turn by Major Crunch.

RACE 3 – MANHARI METALS TROTTERS HANDICAP (2150 SS)

Race start time amended to 3.13pm.

FLING IT RAINBOW – Broke gait when clear of interference at the 800m.

CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY– Driver Fred Spiteri failed to appear in the racebook.

DEEJAY DEX– Broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.  Checked and broke at the 800m by Fling It Rainbow.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a laceration to the right foreleg and the gelding has been stood down from racing for 7 days and pending a veterinary clearance.

RACE 4 – MANHARI METAL PACE (1650 MS)

Race start time amended to 3.53pm.

JEDI MIND– (200+starts, 12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

SILVER DOMINO – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

RIVER PATROL NZ– (200+starts, 12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

JOEYS HANGOVER– (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

RACE 5 – MANHARI METALS NWM TROT (1650 MS)

Race start time amended to 4.33pm.

MISS FRANCENE – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.

CREATABLE– Began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

GEE CEE CALDER– Broke after the start and trailed the field.  The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

ADJURE – Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

KYVALLEYHONEYBUNNY– Driver Tristen Larsen replaced Chris Alford (dual engaged).

RACE 6 – MANHARI METALS PACE (2150 MS)

Race start time amended to 5.13pm.

KYVALLEY ALLEYCAT – Gave ground to be beaten 48m into last placing.

MON SOLEIL– Gave ground to be beaten 37m into 7th position.  Driver Georgia Hayward cautioned for a lack of control on the final turn when the gelding shifted out under pressure. 

FEEL THE BUZZ– (200+starts, 12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

JOHNNY TANG – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 7 – MANHARI METALS PACE (1650 MS)

Race start time amended to 5.54pm.

PLAYNICE – Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The gelding trailed the field and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

OUR ARABELLA– Tired to be beaten 61m into 7th placing.  Given margins established by placegetters, no action was taken.

LOTAKEVI– (200+starts, 12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

KARDESLER NZ – Broke in the score up and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  Inconvenienced by Our Arabella approaching the final turn and held up for clear running entering the home straight.
