STEWARDS REPORT FOR WARRAGUL

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – HYGAIN CRANBOURNE 7000 PACE (1ST HEAT) (2210 MS)

HER MADGEJESTY – Driver J Chibnall was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR 156(3) for applying the whip on more occasions than permitted inside the final 200 metres.

LOTAKEVI – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding being 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

STANDANDELIVER – Broke gait whilst under pressure leaving the 150 metres causing ILLAWONG PHOENIX to be hampered. STANDANDELIVER was placed on its last chance to race truly. Driver J Herbertson reported post-race that the gelding failed to travel genuinely throughout and felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary exam revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-fore leg and consequently was treated with an anti-inflammatory by the on-course veterinarian. Acting on veterinary advice, STANDANDELIVER was stood down for a period of 7 days.

ILLAWONG PHOENIX – Hampered leaving the 150 metres when STANDANDELIVER broke gait.

WATTLEBANK FLYER – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding being 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

RACE 2 – DROUIN SIGNS PACE (1790 MS)

KITCH MACRAY – Trainer/Driver G Schembri pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that, when entering the final turn he directed his runner to shift down the track and improve into a position between ROMANY BROWN and the marker pegs where there insufficient room to do so, resulting in KITCH MACRAY racing in restricted room for a considerable distance and making contact with no less than two marker pegs. When assessing penalty consideration was given to Mr Schembri’s guilty plea, driving record in relation to the rule and the degree of carelessness. Accordingly, G Schembri had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 22/07/24.

MANHATTAN LASS – Trainer G Schembri was issued a formal caution for failing to have the gear form accurately recorded for the mare.

JEDI MIND – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding being 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination

ROMANY BROWN – Hung out at various stages of the event.

 

RACE 3 – HOCKING STUART CRANBOURNE 7000 PACE (2ND HEAT) (2210 MS)

CAPTAINS DREAM – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up. CAPTAINS DREAM was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

EYE SEE AMOUR –At the trainer’s request, the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET – Hung in during the middle stages of the score up. Hung out throughout the event and most noticeably between the 1400 metres and the 1000 metres. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 4 – 3GG TROTTERS HANDICAP (2627 SS)

MISTA WALKER – Declared a late withdrawal at 10:08am acting on veterinary advice.

SUNDAYS SHADOW – Begun badly when galloping away at the start. SUNDAYS SHADOW will continue to be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

ADJURE – Stood flat-footed at the start and was slow to begin. ADJURE will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

ALDEBARAN BROOKE – Declared a late withdrawal at 1:14pm acting on veterinary advice.

IMPERIAL WHIZ NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination

SOVERIGN TIGER – At the trainer’s request, SOVERIGN TIGER will continue to be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

 

RACE 5 – LIBERTY FINANCE 2YO & 3YO PACE (1790 MS)

CRUEL MISTRESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Broke gait clear of interference passing the 500 metres. In view of the filly’s recent record, CRUEL MISTRESS was stood down to one re-qualifying trial. Trainer/Driver M Phillips reported post-race that the filly failed to handle racing on the tight circuit today and as such the stable will endeavour to race the filly on larger circumference tracks going forward.

ROCKIN BULL – Raced greenly throughout the early stages.

THE VILLIAN – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish. Driver C Clarke was advised to modify the manner in which he applies the whip so that it conforms with the rules.

LOOKING FROM ABOVE – Broke gait clear of interference leaving the 500 metres. LOOKING FROM ABOVE was placed on its last chance to race truly.

 

RACE 6 – DOWNTOWNER CRANBOURNE 10000 PACE (3RD HEAT) (2200 MS)

DIEGOS DIAMOND – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.

YERING SOHO – Fractious during the early stages of the score up.

KARDESLER NZ – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

UP AND ABOUT – Broke gait during the middle stages of the score up and consequently was out of position at the start. UP AND ABOUT will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

GOODTIME MACH – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.

WINGATE GUY – Driver R Duffy was advised to modify the manner in which he applies the whip so that it conforms with the rules.

ILLAWONG DANNY – Hampered during the score up when UP AND ABOUT broke gait.

OH NO NEVER AGAIN – Hampered during the score up when UP AND ABOUT broke gait.
