STEWARDS REPORT FOR WARRAGUL

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – FULL STEAM AHEAD TROT (2210 MS)

DA PREZ – Pulled hard middle stages.  Checked and broke at the 1500m when the paced eased.

KYVALLEY PICASSO NZ– Driver Tristan Larsen was cautioned for allowing his right foot to momentarily slip from the sulky footrest in the home straight.  Mr.Larsen was fined $200 under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

ATABOY CHARLIE– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 300m.

RILEYS PEGASUS– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

YOGI SON NZ– Pulled hard middle stages.

RACE 2 – 3GG PACE (2210 MS)

TRINITYS DELIGHT – Driver John Caldow was queried regarding the overall performance of the mare which tired after leading to be beaten 66m into 5th placing.  Mr.Caldow stated that the crupper broke in the early stages resulting in the saddle shifting forward and the mare then began to pull hard in the lead.

ATA RANGI– Tired to be beaten 62m into 4th placing.  Given margin established by the first two placegetters, no action was taken.

SKY CITY– Pulled hard middle stages.

CALEDONIAN TERRA– Tired to be beaten 66m into 6th placing.  Given margin established by the first two placegetters, no action was taken.

EYECON NZ– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

HER MADGEJESTY– Tired to be beaten 67m into 7th placing.  Given margin established by the first two placegetters, no action was taken.

BENBULLEN– Broke gait at the 1800m and placed on last chance to race truly.

KEAYANG FITZY – Driver Annalise Scott replaced Lochie Cook (unavailable).  Pulled hard outside the leader.

RACE 3 – LIBERTY PACE (1790 MS)

CEE CEE NORMAN – Driver Chris Alford replaced Brent Murphy.

PAIGETHEHURRIKANE – Pulled hard middle stages.

ALTA BEDFORD – Late scratching at 12.39pm with Stewards Permission.

FEEL THE BUZZ – (200+ starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 250m and placed on last chance to race truly.

RACE 4 – HOCKING STUART PACE (2210 MS)

JEDI MIND – (200+ starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

MARIANNA BROMAC - Driver George Schembri was cautioned for allowing his left foot to momentarily slip from the sulky footrest in the home straight. 

RACE 5 – DOWNTOWNER WARRAGUL PACING CUP CONSOLATION (2210 MS)

ILLAWONG DANNY – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

BLISSFULL MIND– Inconvenienced and raced roughly at the 1500m.

PRECIOUS BELLE NZ– Driver Jodi Quinlan cautioned for tightening the racing room of Blissfull Mind at the 1500m.  Ms.Quinlan was queried regarding the overall performance of the mare which gave ground to be beaten 49m into last placing.  Ms.Quinlan stated the mare pulled hard in the middle stages and also sustained a flat tyre in running contributing to the beaten margin.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near front leg and has been stood down from racing pending a veterinary clearance.

LUVERBOY– No clear run in the home straight.

RACE 6 – EDDIE EVISON MEMORIAL TROTTERS CUP (2627 SS)

BAXTER NZ – Trainer Brent Lilley cautioned for failing to advise Stewards of the driving tactics to be adopted by the stable runners.

EASY PICKINGS NZ– Paced and broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.  Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the 400m, warning issued.

TRIPOD NZ– Swung sideways at the start, warning issued.  Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the 200m.

CRACKER JET- Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the 600m, placed on last chance to race truly.

COPACABANA – Driver James Herbertson replaced Chris Alford (dual engaged).

RACE 7 – DOWNTOWNER WARRAGUL PACING CUP (2627 MS)

General – Im Eugene choked down and fell at the 1300m.  Stewards activated the siren as the field approached the 700m as Im Eugene remained on the track.  Given the remainder of the field had travelled over 1900m, the race was abandoned.

WATTLEBANK FLYER – (200+ starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

IM EUGENE– Fell at the 1300m.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had choked down and sustained lacerations to its right eye and offside knee.  The gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 7 days, one satisfactory trial and a veterinary clearance.  Driver James Herbertson escaped injury.

RACE 8 – DROUIN SIGNS PACE (1790 MS)

COCOSDREAM - Trainer Jess Tubbs cautioned for failing to advise Stewards of the driving tactics to be adopted by the stable runners.

SWIMINTHERIVER NZ – Pulled hard middle stages.

LENARD ESS – Driver Sophie Jefferies replaced Greg Sugars (dual engaged).

TRIPLE VINNIES – Tightened for racing room by Seve NZ approaching the 1400m.

SEVE NZ- Driver Jordan Leedham cautioned for tightening the racing room of Triple Vinnies approaching the 1400m.
