Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 QUIRKS REAL ESTATE & VHRC / APG PACE (1790 MS)

Aimforthestarzzz hung out approaching the winning post with one lap remaining.

James Herbertson, driver of Tanabi Falcon explained that he challenged for the lead during the middle stages due to the slow tempo and that the leader (Aimforthestarzzz) was inclined to hang out.

James Herbertson, driver of Tanabi Falcon was cautioned for using the whip outside the sulky confines rounding the final turn.

RACE 2 KEVIN WYNNE & VHRC / APG 3YO MAIDEN PACE (1790 MS)

The start of this race was delayed due to Warwick Farm thoroughbreds running behind schedule.

The racebook failed to show Scott Ewen as the driver of Malibu Rikki and Chris Alford replaced Anthony Butt (unavailable) as the driver of Shoobee Gotcha.

Lance Justice, driver of Sunstar was fined $100 under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that at the entrance to the back straight on the first occasion after shifting away from a position behind the leader, Mr Justice then directed Sunstar back inwards, contacting the offside sulky wheel of Sunshine Warrior, causing Sunstar to pace roughly which resulted in Gipsy Princess and Eye See Amour being inconvenienced.

Alex Ashwood, driver of Sunshine Warrior was cautioned for using the whip outside the sulky confines rounding the final turn.

RACE 3 – TOTAL SPAN & VHRC / APG PACE (2210 MS)

The racebook failed to show Robert Walters, as the driver Heidi Go Seek and Joshua Smyth as the driver of Alpha Crucis.

Stylish In Black shifted in and contacted marker pegs near the 1500m and pulled hard during the middle stages.

Drivers Jack Laugher (Machavelli), James Herbertson (Denstown NZ), Joshua Smyth (Alpha Crucis) and Lance Justice (Tipofthetongue) were reminded of their obligations to return to all clear in a clockwise direction.

RACE 4 – WARRAGUL LIGHT HARNESS CLUB RACE DAY & VHRC / APG PACE (1790 MS)

Amy Tubbs failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Lenard Ess.

No racing incidents to report.                                                                        

RACE 5 - DES KELLY MEMORIAL & VHRC / ALDEBARAN PARK TROTTERS HANDICAP (2210 MS)

Jack Laugher was approved as a late driver replacement for Jeremy Quinlan (indisposed) on The Girls Gotflair.

The Girls Gotflair galloped briefly and the start before breaking gait shortly thereafter. The Girls Gotflair will be placed outside the draw in future standing start races.

Hes Themightyspin began badly and will be placed outside the draw in future standing start races.

RACE 6 – THE DOWNTOWNER & VHRC / APG EASTERN CHALLENGE (2210 MS)

Talent Agent NZ refused to score up, was well out of position at the start and trailed the field thereafter. Talent Agent NZ will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start races. This occurrence was viewed prior to all clear and Stewards were satisfied that Talent Agent NZ had refused to score up of its own accord and was therefore confirmed as a starter.

Knights Templar hung in and contacted a marker peg near the 700m.  

Captain Bellasario paced roughly for a short distance when leading near the 300m.

The Chancer was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn prior to finishing in 3rd place.

Malibu Jack and All Major tired to be beaten 53m and 73m respectively, however due to the new track record of (1:54.4 mile rate) no action was taken for the performances.

RACE 7 – KEN MILLER MEMORIAL & VHRC / APG PACE (1790 MS)

Priddy Easy began badly and will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start races.

Taylor Ford, driver of Diegos Diamond was cautioned for the manner in which she shifted ground into a three wide position passing the 800m which caused Tommy Bligh to be momentarily inconvenienced.

Our Sammy Jae gave ground rounding the final turn resulting in Coveffe Hustler being inconvenienced and held up for a clear run rounding the final turn. Coveffe Hustler then continued to have difficulty in obtaining a clear run in the early part of the home straight.

Drivers Kate Gath (Duffy Hollow NZ) and Taylor Ford (Diegos Diamond) were reminded of their obligations to return to all clear in a clockwise direction.
