STEWARDS REPORT FOR WARRAGUL

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – 3GG MAIDEN PACE (1790 MS)

MIAMI ROCKS– Gave ground in the final lap.

OH NO NEVER AGAIN– Broke gait shortly after the start and will be placed outside the draw at its future mobile starts.

MY WAY NZ– Out of position after hanging in during the score up and a warning issued.

RACE 2 – LIBERTY PACE (2210 MS)

OCEANIQUE–Tired, beaten 111m.  When questioned regard the run Driver George Batsakis stated that the mare was contacting the sulky in running and he attempted to balance up the mare in running to alleviate this. However, when placed under pressure it gave ground and disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. The mare will be stood down pending a satisfactory trial before being permitted to start again.

IAMAWINGATE– Inconvenienced and lost ground when held up behind the tiring OCEANIQUE in the final lap.

KARTIARE- Out of position in the score up and will continue to be placed outside the draw at its future mobile starts.

RACE 3 – DES KELLY MEMORIAL TROTTERS HANDICAP (2210 SS)

BLANCO CANYON– Slow to begin and raced roughly after the start. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the draw at its future standing starts.

SUNDAYS SHADOW- Raced roughly after the start. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the draw at its future standing starts.

HOLD MY HAT DOUG- Pulled hard in running and broke gait making the turn into the home straight. The gelding then collapsed on the track after the finish of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. The gelding will be stood down pending a satisfactory trial before being permitted to start again.

MACHO MAN– Raced three wide approaching the bell lap.

SOVEREIGN TIGER– Raced three wide in the middle stages. Trainer Chris Hunter requested that the gelding remain outside the draw at its future standing starts.

 

RACE 4 – HOCKING STUART PACE (1790 SS)

STANDANDELIVER – Hung in under pressure.

LIEUTENANT JACK – Gave ground in the final lap.

ISLAS JOY NZ - Gave ground in the final lap.

BACCHANALIAN – Driver David Collins was cautioned for being out of position in the score up. Raced wide in the early stages and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

FEEL THE BUZZ– In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (12yo+ & 200+ starts) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations.  Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities.

KARDESLER NZ– Returned with a flat near side tyre.

 

RACE 5 – DOWNTOWNER WARRAGUL PACING CUP (2627 MS)

WATTLEBANK FLYER NZ– In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (12yo+ & 200+ starts) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations.  Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities. Held up making the turn into the home straight.

LUVERBOY– Tired, beaten 59m and no action taken.

PRECIOUS BELLE NZ– Trainer Taylor Ford was cautioned for failing to declare gear for the mare.

ILLAWONG DANNY- Tired, beaten 65m and a warning issued.

SHOOBEES SPIRIT- Trainer C & T Jamieson were cautioned for failing to declare gear for the gelding.

MAXNJAX– Hung out under pressure making the turn into the home straight.

RACE 6 – KEN MILLER MEMORIAL PACE (2210 MS)

KITCH MACRAY – Trainer George Schembri was cautioned for failing to declare gear for the gelding. Shortly after entering the home straight shifted inwards and then raced roughly after contacting a sulky. Driver George Schembri was cautioned for careless driving.

OLLY ODD POTTS– Pulled hard in running and sulky contacted shortly after entering the home straight.

ICANMOTOR– Raced wide in the early stages. Held up making the turn into the home straight. Tightened shortly after entering the home straight resulting in it contacting marker pegs and racing roughly. Driver George Schembri was found guilty to a charge under AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference. Mr Schembri and was suspended for a period of seven (7) days commencing midnight 10th June 2024.

LOTAKEVI – In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (12yo+ & 200+ starts) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations.  Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities. Raced three wide in the early stages.

BENBULLEN- Trainer Jayne Davies was cautioned for failing to declare gear for the gelding.

BATTON ROUGE– Raced three wide in the middle stages.
