Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – DOWNTOWNER MAIDEN PACE (1790 MS)
LE BETTY – Inconvenienced approaching the final turn by Riddlemethis.
RIDDLEMETHIS – Broke gait when clear of interference at the 300m and placed on last chance to race truly.
WOLFENDEN – (Last start Oct 2023) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy. Driver Michael Bellman was queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding which tired to be beaten 79m into last placing. Mr.Bellman stated that despite his efforts to restrain, the gelding raced keenly outside the leader and began to tire from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 2 –HOCKING STUART TROT(1790 MS)
Race start time amended to 3.09pm.
GUNNY TEE– Locked wheels with Nuclear Attitude on the first turn.
NUCLEAR ATTITUDE– Hung in and locked wheels with Gunny Tee on the first turn.
RACE 3 – LIBERTY FINANCIAL NMW PACE (1790 MS)
Race start time amended to 3.48pm.
EMILY VINCENT – Pulled hard during the score up. Hung in and contacted marker pegs on the first turn. Pulled hard middle stages. Utilised sprint lane in home straight.
RACE 4 – TRARALGON PACING CUP (2210 MS)
Race start time amended to 4.16pm.
MISTIE REIGN – Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 31m into last placing.
BUSLOAD OF FAITH NZ– Pulled hard middle stages.
HARRYS A ROCKSTAR– Contacted own sulky and pulled hard middle stages. Driver James Herbertson cautioned for allowing his body to protrude beyond the sulky.
RACE 5 – TED DEMMLER 80TH BIRTHDAY PACE (1790 MS)
KITCH MACRAY – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.
DEFT TOUCH($3.60) – Driver Glenn Hunter could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding which sat outside the leader before finishing in last position beaten 15m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
LOTAKEVI – (12+yrs, 200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy. Neither check revealed any abnormality.
ICANMOTOR - Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.
RACE 6 – ROLY THOMPSON MEMORIAL PACE (1790 MS)
BACCHANALIAN – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.
FEEL THE BUZZ – (12+yrs, 200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy. Neither check revealed any abnormality. Held up for clear running on the final turn.
KARDESLER NZ – Pulled hard middle stages.
