DIAMANTINA DAISY– Raced roughly under pressure in the run to the finish.
General: Trainer George Michael was fined $100 for presenting Our Little Banjo to race with incorrect gear. (AHR 273(5)(b).
A false start was declared on the first attempt after driver Lola Weidemann signalled to the starter that Rocknroll Knight was experiencing gear issues. Upon investigation, it was determined that the pole burr had become lodged against the saddle. This occurred because the horse was hanging outduring the score-up, which caused the burr to catch and remain in an incorrect position, compromising the gear setup.
The starter reported a malfunction affecting the ability to regulate the speed of the mobile barrier vehicle. As a result, proceedings were temporarily delayed while a replacement vehicle was located and repositioned to ensure the start could be conducted
Stewards intend to inquire at a later date into an incident in the stable area following the event between trainer Alistair Barnes and driver Brendan Barnes.
