RACE 1 – MT NOORAT FREIGHTERS  PACE (1680 MS)

General- Stewards inquired into the reasons for OUR BETTER BRO being checked and racing roughly near the 100 metres. After hearing evidence from  drivers James  Herbertson and  Michelle Phillips(CALEDONIAN RANGER) and reviewing the race vision Ms Phillips was charged pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference. The particulars of the charge were that after entering the  home straight Ms Phillips allowed her drive to shift out, taking OUR BETTER BRO wider on the track with her offside sulky wheel  then making contact with the near hindleg of that gelding near the 100 metres causing that runner to be checked and pace roughly. Ms Phillips pleaded not guilty to the charge however after giving due consideration to all of the evidence Stewards found Ms Phillips guilty of the charge. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration the circumstances of the incident, Ms Phillips not guilty plea and record regarding interference related  matters and  HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines. An eight day suspension was imposed with a deferment granted to allow the suspension to begin at midnight on 11/10/24. Ms Phillips was also cautioned for her conduct during the Inquiry.
