SHEZA TIGRESS– Could not be driven into position at the start and was slow away.  Trainer/driver Mr A Varga was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.  Hung in at various stages and proved difficult to drive.  Mr Varga was advised that a further warning for racing intractably would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

SHOOBEES SUNSET– Unable to be driven into position at the start and was slow to begin.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing record.

LUCKY RICTOR– Unable to be driven into position at the start and was slow to begin.  Trainer/driver Mr M Formosa was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.  When questioned in relation to the performance.  M Formosa explained that the gelding raced greenly throughout and when placed under pressure inside the 400 metres hung in and was reluctant to extend properly. He said that he intended to continue the preparation and was confident that continued racing would improve the gelding’s tractability.

SAN SABA– Broke stride free of any external factors shortly after the start and galloped.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing record.

SPOOKY ART– Hung out during the score up and was out of position at the start.  Trainer/driver Mr M Grima was advised that the gelding would continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 4 – FACEBOOK PAGE BY MELS MEDIA HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1980 metres

REDBANK OLIVIA– When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Mr S Glasby explained, that the mare travelled relatively well in the early and middle stages when racing behind the leader, however when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres could not improve and weakened in the run to the finish. He said that in his opinion given this was REDBANK OLIVIA’S second start in this preparation, the distance of today’s race was too great and its condition gave out.  Mr Glasby was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.

NIGHTWATCH STAR– Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.  Post-race swab sample.

LILLY SHANNON– Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

SAFE JEWELS– When questioned in relation to the performance driver L Whittaker explained, that after racing in a rearward position in the early stages he felt that the tempo of the race was too slow and for this reason he elected to improve wide on the track and go forward inside the 1200 metres.  He said that when attempting to achieve the position outside the lead he was challenged by TRUE STEPPER for some distance which obliged him to race three wide for longer for than he intended.  He added that after racing without cover for some distance he placed the mare under pressure passing the 500 metres however despite his efforts it failed to respond and weakened in the run to the finish.  He said that he felt this was due to the extra work he was forced to do when obtaining the position outside the lead. He indicated that the mare would be freshened with light trackwork over the ensuing days to monitor its recovery.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

TASMANS DELIGHT– Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 5 – FARRER SECURITY SERVICE PACE – 1609 metres

MONTANA NIGHTS– Post-race swab sample.

SHADOW ECLIPSE– Past required pre-race veterinary examination.

TAFL MOVE– When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted during the early and middle stages and the overall performance driver M Formosa explained that he intended to obtain cover in a forward position after the start if possible, however after failing to muster sufficient speed in the early stages he was trapped wide, then rounding the turn after the start he made some attempt to obtain a running line position forward of SKY DIAMOND but was not travelling well enough at that time to achieve this. He said that because of his wide position at this stage he elected to restrain to the rear of the field and when he did so the gelding became unresponsive which obliged him to continually urge it during the middle stages. He said that after being shifted wider inside the 500m TAFL MOVE began to respond to his urgings and ran to the finish strongly. He stated that in hindsight he should have persevered for longer when attempting to race forward of SKY DIAMOND and had he done so TAFL MOVE may have raced more generously throughout.

ROCKINTHECITY– When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver G Panella explained, that she obtained a favourable position in the early stages and enjoyed a comfortable run in transit, however when placed under pressure inside the 500 metres the horse was unresponsive and ran to the finish in her opinion in a disappointing manner.  She said that she intended to consult the co-owners in relation to a future racing program, however it was possible that the horse would leave her stable.  Notwithstanding this advice, Miss Panella was told that the provision of last chance to race truly wold be placed on the horse’s record.

THREE PARTS GREY– Raced roughly for a short distance rounding the turn after the start.  Held up for a considerable distance inside the 400 metres and rounding the home turn when racing behind ROCKINTHECITY which was weakening.

RACE 6 – RADIO 2TM – AFTERNOONS WITH DAN SAUNDERS PACE – 1980 metres

LIMOUSINE CHEEKY– Pre-race blood sample.

DRAKAINA– When questioned in relation to the performance driver B Hughes explained despite racing in a prominent position in the early and middle stages the filly was unsuited to racing without cover at the tempo that had been set.  He said that when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres DRAKAINA could not respond and weakened over the concluding stages. He stated that it may be beneficial to the filly in similar grade events to be driven with cover in a forward position in future. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

BRAVE BONDI– Driver G Panella pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(2)(a), stating that when she applied the whip inside the 200 metres, she did so in a manner that exceeded a wrist only flicking motion.  Miss Panella was fined $200.  Post-race swab sample.

MY LATIN LADY– Raced in restricted room approaching and rounding the home turn.  Held up in the early part of the straight then had to be shifted in passing the 100 metres to be driven forward.

RACE 7 – JOHNS AUTOS – FEMALE DRIVERS PREMIERSHIP PACE – 1980 metres

ADRENALINE RUSH– Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN– Raced roughly for a short distance after the start.

FAR OUT RINGO– Taking into account all the circumstances, including Driver K Hepworth’s relative inexperience, she was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(h) for failing to drive the gelding into position at the start.

GOTONEBETTER– Bled from one nostril during the race.  Trainer Mr A Missen was advised that prior to racing again the gelding must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

RACE 8 – STOCKMANS SUPPLIES – FARRIER GEAR PACE – 1980 metres

ZACHAROONI– When questioned in relation to the performance, driver J Coney explained that she had intended to obtain cover in the early stages however the tempo was such that she obtained the lead without challenge.  She said that whilst the gelding travelled relatively well in the early and middle stages it was unsuited racing in the lead and when placed under pressure inside the 400 metres, weakened and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner.  Further she stated that in her opinion the distance of today’s race was too great for ZACHAROONI and it is best suited being restricted to shorter distance races.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displayed a slow recovery rate.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again ZACHAROONI must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

QUEEN TREACHERIE NZ– Out of position at the start.  Taking into account all the circumstances no action was taken.

THREEBUSHELSOFOATS– Pre-race blood sample.

ROSBERG NZ– Trainer/driver G Panella pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 162(1)(ww), stating that over the concluding stages she allowed ROSBERG NZ to shift outward significantly when not commencing a forward move.  Miss Panella was fined $200.

RACE 9 – KIDS DAY AT THE PACEWAY – THUR 18 JULY PACE – 1609 metres

MISTER CHEESE– When questioned in relation to the performance driver B Hughes explained that he had been instructed to lead despite any challenge. He said that when driving to achieve this, he was trapped wide rounding the turn after the start and obliged to set a significant first quarter time until he crossed the field. He said that after obtaining the lead the gelding was under constant pressure and whilst it was disappointing in the run to the finish, the effort that it was forced to endure in the early stages was responsible for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

UNSULLY– Out of position at the start.  Taking into account all the circumstances no action was taken.  When questioned in relation to the performance, driver L Whittaker explained that the gelding failed to travel at any stage of the race and was constantly under pressure.  He said that he gained no response at any stage of the race and inside the 400 metres he felt something was amiss and allowed UNSULLY to run to the finish under restraint.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.  Trainer Mr A Missen could offer no excuse for the performance and was advised that prior to racing again UNSULLY must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

PARATROUPER– Out of position at the start.  Taking into account all the circumstances no action was taken

MISTER ARTIKULATE– Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start.  Trainer/driver Mr J Donovan was advised that prior to racing again MISTERARTIKULATE must perform tractably in an official qualifying trial.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER– Pre-race blood sample.  Hampered during the score up when pacing inside ROCK FISHERMAN and was out of position at the start.  No action was taken.  Post-race swab sample.

ROCK FISHERMAN– Broke stride during the score up and galloped, then continued to gallop after a start was affected for some distance.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.
