Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – NIC DEWAR MEMORIAL PACE (1690 MS)
OLLY ODD POTS – Held up making the turn into the home straight.
ALTA BEDFORD – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Drive Abby Sanderson was cautioned for lack of control. When questioned regarding the improved performance Train Paul Tonkin stated that the gelding was down in grade and had the benefit if an experienced driver in this claiming driver race.
IM DUSTEE– Broke gait on the first turn and was placed on its last chance to race tractably.
CRAFTY OLD FOX - In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (200 starts+) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations. Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities. Checked on the first turn.
RACE 2 –NIC DEWAR MEMORIAL PACE (1690 MS)
BE A GOOD SCOUT – Raced tight on the first turn.
SPEED SPIDA– Driver James Locke was cautioned for tightening on the first turn.
NIFTY COLT - In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (200 starts+) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations. Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages.
KELLYS IDEAL– Held up making the turn into the home straight.
RACE 3 – NEATLINE HOMES PACE (2190 MS)
MYBOYMYBOY - Hung out making the turn and a warning issued. When questioned regarding his tactics during the race Driver Harry O’Neill stated that whilst acknowledging that he had been forced to work early to establish the lead that when challenged approaching the bell lap he initially considered handing up the lead but then elected to maintain the lead and withstood the challenge.
MALAVA MISS– Hung in under pressure.
BUS STOP– Raced three wide in the early stages. Checked making the turn into the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination as it was engaged to race the next day. The examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
ELYSIAN PALACE– Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced making the turn into the home straight.
ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET– Out of position after hanging out in the score up and a warning issued. Raced three wide in the middle stages.
ELENNA– Inconvenienced and contacted marker pegs making the turn into the home straight.
TERROROAN– Pulled hard in running. Inconvenienced and broke gait making the turn into the home straight.
RACE 4 – HAPPY 30th NICOLE CROSBIE PACE (2190 MS)
ONA MERRY DANCE– Tired, beaten 50m, no action taken.
GLENS OF TEKOA NZ– Tighten shortly after the start. Contacted marker pegs when racing in restricted room making the turn into the home straight.
SHEZABLUECHIP- Tighten shortly after the start. Hung in near the 1400m.
IRE OF THE DRAGON– Driver Rodney Vernon was cautioned for tightening shortly after the start. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages.
OKTOLOVE- Tired, beaten 89m and a warning issued.
MISTER REBEL- Tired, beaten 76m and a warning issued.
ROBERTS DELIGHT- Tired, beaten 68m and a warning issued.
RACE 5 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK BOYINGTON PACE (2190 MS)
AMERICAN SPIRIT– Raced three wide in the early stages. Hung in and contacted marker pegs making the turn into the home straight.
INTERPRETATION – Held up making the turn into the home straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
RACE 6 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM CROSBIE CONCESSION DRIVERS PACE (2190 MS)
BUDD SIDEWINDER – Inconvenienced and contacted maker pegs in the concluding stages.
ROCKNROLL GRONK – Hung in under pressure.
ROSLYN GAYE- In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (200 starts+) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations. Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities.
ROLLING REMONA– Pulled hard in running. Tired, beaten 118m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. The mare will be stood down pending the completion of a satisfactory trial before being permitted to start again.
RACE 7 – YOUR SOLD REAL ESTATE TROTTERS HANDICAP (2690 SS)
LINDY GRACE- Held up making the turn into the home straight.
YOU NO ILL BE LATE– Began badly and will continue to be placed outside the draw at its future standing starts.
LUVSKI– Broke gait on the first turn, the gelding will be stood down pending the completion of a satisfactory trial before being permitted to start again. Contacted a sulky, checked and broke gait in the home straight.
CROOKWELL EYES- Held up making the turn into the home straight.
HADTOBEHARRY– Sulky contacted in the home straight.
RACE 8 – NUTRIEN YEARLINGS @ BENSTUD PACE (2ND DIV) (1690 MS)
PATNWILL- Tired, beaten 88m and a placed on its last chance to race competitively.
MIDNIGHT EAGLE- Raced wide in the early stages.
MACHO MAORI- Raced wide in the early stages.
LOTS OF CHANGE- Raced three wide in middle stages and pulled hard in running. When questioned Nathan Jack stated that after pulled extremely hard in running it failed to respond when placed under pressure.
