Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – ALABAR PACE (1690 MS)

NIVEKALON PUNTA – Raced roughly on the first turn.  Began to give ground at the 300m.  Sulky contacted by Eastbro Jesse on the final turn and sustained a flat tyre.  Beaten 58m into last placing.

EASTBRO JESSE– Inconvenienced by Nivekalon Punta approaching the final turn.  Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to making contact with the offside sulky wheel of Nivekalon Punta.

SHAQ – Driver Jack Laugher fined $200 under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

WELL SAID NUGGET– Out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver Kate Hargreaves.  The gelding has been placed on its last chance in the draw.  Pulled hard middle stages.

SOPHIES SCOOTER– Driver Rebecca Bartley cautioned for failing to have the filly in position at the start.

BANDIT EYES- Driver James Herbertson cautioned for failing to have the gelding in position at the start.

RACE 2 –YOUR SOLD REAL ESTATE PACE(2190 MS)

MAHINDI NZ – Pulled hard middle stages.

ART ON FIRE NZ– Gave ground to be beaten 25m into 8th placing.

OZZIE PUNTA– Driver Jack Laugher cautioned for allowing his body to protrude beyond the sulky.

RACE 3 – HUNTER RURAL PACE (1690 MS)

FINAL BOW – (Engaged tomorrow 16/10) Underwent a post-race veterinary examination in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy which revealed no abnormality.

EPIC ORION– Pulled hard middle stages.

RACE 4 – SADDLEWORLD SHEPPARTON TROT (1690 MS)

ASTRO – Hung in on the final turn.

STRAIGHT TO THETOP– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

MISS FRANCENE– Pulled hard during the score up.

RACE 5 – CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE PACE (1690 MS)

WELL THATS ALRIGHT – Held up for clear running on the final turn and utilisied the sprint lane in the home straight.  Driver Kevin Weidenbach fined $100 under AHR Rule 156(3) for applying the whip on more occasions that permitted over the final 200m.

BERYLS GRIN - Driver Nathan Jack fined $200 under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

SMILE WITH A GRIN – ($4.20) Driver James Herbertson was queried regarding his decision to remain in the running line passing the 800m as Ohemmjay Cresco progressed three wide to his outside.  Mr.Herbertson stated that on exposed form he was not of the opinion that the gelding would be able to make a move that far from the finish and be competitive.  Mr.Herbertson added that he thought Beryls Grin was the best horse in the field to be trailing, however he was unable to secure clear running on the final turn or in the home straight.  Stewards were not of the opinion that the decision by Mr.Herbertson was unreasonable and took the matter no further.

PINNACLE HOPE – (200+ starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy which revealed no abnormalities.  Driver Jack Laugher replaced Tayla French (unavailable).  Shifted out under pressure on the final turn.

RACE 6 – NEATLINE HOMES TROT (2190 MS)

SAN ANTONIA ROSE – Began badly and trailed the field.  The mare will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

MAORI FRANKLIN– Inconvenienced after the start by San Antonia Rose.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 400m.

STARLIGHT RED– Pulled hard in the lead.

MAORI DUCHESS– Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The mare trailed the field and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

BENNIE AND THE JETS NZ– Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 7 – GRENADA PARK 3YO MAIDEN PACE (2190 MS)

BROADWAY BRENDA – (Engaged tomorrow 16/10) Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the first turn and placed on last chance to race truly.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy which revealed no abnormality. 

TREACHEROUS JEWEL – Tired to be beaten 66m into 7th placing, warning issued.

ONTHADARKSIDE– Pulled hard during the score up.

DASHING COWBOY– Tired from the 800m to be beaten 216m into last placing.  Driver Kevin Weidenbach stated that he believed the gelding may have choked down, however a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  The gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RACE 8 – ELITE HORSE TRANSPORTS 4YO & OLDER MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

ROYLE BLOOD – Pulled hard middle stages.

ROLLIN MARY– Inconvenienced during the score up by Waltzing With Nana.

WALTZING WITH NANA– Hung in during the score up, inconveniencing Rollin Mary.  Inconvenienced over the concluding stages by Alamo.

FRANKIE FIREFLY– Raced roughly and broke gait twice in running.  The gelding has now been stood down from racing for 10 days and until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

ALAMO– Driver Christopher Shinn cautioned for a lack of control after allowing the gelding to shift in over the concluding stages.

LA FRANK– Fractious before the start and out of position at release.  The gelding will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 9 – COTTRELLS ELECTRICAL 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

CRESCO CASHFLOW– Tired to be beaten 57m into 5th position, no action taken given margin established by placegetters.

ILDEFONSO– Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The gelding trailed the field and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

ZIPTIE– Gave ground from the 400m to be beaten 43m into 4th position.

FLYIN TIME– Driver Lisa Miles cautioned for the unapproved activation of gear on the final turn.

ALABAMA MAY– Out of position at the start and broke after the start.  The filly will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.
