STEWARDS REPORT FOR SHEPPARTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – NEATLINE HOMES MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

ON A NIGHT – tightened for racing room heading into the first turn and contacted several marker pegs as a result.

PRINCESS ARNA – tightened by ATOMIC GLORY (Sean O’Sullivan) heading into the first turn. Driver Ryan Duffy cautioned for allowing the filly to contact and/or race inside several marker pegs prior to the entrance of the sprint lane.

ATOMIC GLORY – driver Sean O’Sullivan cautioned for tightened the racing room of PRINCESS ARNA (Ryan Duffy) and ON A NIGHT (Damian Wilson) heading into the first turn.

FRANKIE FIREFLY – pulled hard in running. Held up and no clear run from approx. 400m to finish.

ALTA BAYAMO – out of position when start effected; continued exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.

RACE 2 – ALABAR MARES PACE (3RD HEAT) (1690 MS)

RIGHTEOUSLY – shifted out under pressure over the final 200m despite the efforts of driver Christopher Shinn; warning issued.

SHEZABLUECHIP – inconvenienced by RIGHTEOUSLY when that runner shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.

ALIZA HILL – shifted out in the home straight with one lap to run when leading the event. No action taken against driver Chris Alford for the slow sectional through that part of the event given the collective behaviors.

ROLLING REMONA – pulled hard through the early to middle stages. Inconvenienced by RIGHTEOUSLY at approx. the 200m when that runner commenced to shift outwards.

YOU BEAUTY – gear failure (dust sheet) which resulted in the mare scoring up slowly and being out of position when the start was effected; no action taken given the circumstances. No clear run rounding home turn final occasion; utilized sprint lane thereafter.

KIA ORA BEAUTY – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

OUR BELLA LUCIA – pulled hard in running. Inconvenienced by RIGHTEOUSLY nearing the finish as that runner shifted outward under pressure.

RACE 3 – YOUR SOLD REAL ESTATE MARES TROT (2ND HEAT) (1690 MS)

MONTANA MUSCLE – galloped free of interference at approx. 450m.

SILVER SPOON – inconvenienced when MONTANA MUSCLE galloped; having to navigate wider around that runner. Galloped free of interference shortly thereafter.

BELLE NEIGE – sustained a flat tyre in running.

RACE 4 – JIMS DIGGERS 2YO PACE (1690 MS)

ALWAYS HOT – required a change of sulky (size) which resulted in the start of this event being delayed by several minutes.

OZZIE CORKA – began badly; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Trailed the field thereafter.

GOLDEN SHOOZ – hung in under pressure at approx. 200m and contacted and/or raced inside marker pegs prior to the entrance of the sprint lane.

BUSINESS IN HEAVEN – raced roughly when being restrained shortly after the start was effected.

FORTY LOVE – pulled hard at various stages when positioned outside the leader.

RACE 5 – AVENEL EQUINE HOSPITAL MARES PACE (2ND HEAT) (1690 MS)

OZZIE JOY – hung out at various stages of the event.

RACE 6 – SADDLEWORLD SHEPPARTON 3YO PACE (1690 MS)

KIMCANDO – hung out score-up.

LOCHINVAR CAMILA – driver Greg Sugars reported that the filly hung at various stages of the event.  

MIKI TO SUCCESS – raced roughly at the winning post with one lap to run.

RACE 7 – CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE PACEPACE (1690 MS)

BRONSKI MOMENT – trainer Danny Thackeray cautioned for not advising dual-runner tactics by the prescribed time. Driver Mel Thackeray fined the sum of $200 under AHRR156(2)(a) for applying the whip to his drive with more than a wrist-only flicking motion, in an action which engaged the shoulder and elbow and displayed an overt amount of force over the final 200m. Clear record noted.

EYE SEE PHILTRA – trainer Mick Blackmore queried regarding what appeared to be an improved performance from the gelding. Mr Blackmore explained that EYE SEE PHILTRA pulled hard in running at Shepparton on 9 June 2024 and travelled more tractably in this event. Stewards noted Mr Blackmore’s explanation.

MAJOR SUSPECT – pulled hard through the middle stages.

BINN WATCHING – inconvenienced by ALTA BEDFORD as that runner commenced to give ground from approx. 300m and contacted the inside sulky wheel of that runner.

ALTA BEDFORD – inside sulky wheel contacted by BINN WATCHING at approx. 250m whilst giving ground.

OUR CHEEKY DEVIL – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

RACE 8 – COTTRELLS ELECTRICAL PACE (1690 MS)

STORMBOY STAR – pulled hard in running. No clear running for most of the last 400m.

ALL GOOD – galloped score-up, fulfilled position on gate when start effected; last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

FRIENDS – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfarepolicy having attained 12 or more years of age. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

FANTASY BEACH – driver Jeff Gledhill fined the sum of $200 under AHRR156(2)(a) for applying the whip to his drive with more than a wrist-only flicking motion, in an action which engaged the shoulder and elbow and displayed an overt amount of force over the final 200m. Clear record noted. Further, Mr Gledhill was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR156(3) for unapproved whip use, applying the whip to his drive on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m. Clear record noted. 

CRAFTY OLD FOX - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfarepolicy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts.  No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

TOPZAVSKI – trainer and driver Steven Matson queried as to whether there was an opportunity to improve into the race wider on the track from approx. the 400m. Mr Matson explained that TOPZAVSKI was always placed to the inside of ALL GOOD rendering him unable to extricate to the outside of that runner from approx. the 275m to gain clear running wider on the track. Mr Matson added he was unable to gain an advantage on ALL GOOD over the last 150m in order to shift that runner wider. Upon review of the race replays, Stewards elected not to proceed with the matter in this instance and noted Mr Matson's comments. 

BERYLS GRIN – driver Nathan Jack cautioned for the conduct displayed in a verbal exchange with a fellow driver nearing the finishing line. 

SARASUN - drawn behind ALL GOOD who galloped in the early part of the score-up and inconvenienced marginally by that runner and unable to fulfil position on the second row; no action take given the circumstances. 

RACE 9 – JDC CONTRACTORS 3YO TROT (1690 MS)

VAL THORENS – galloped at approx. 350m; warning issued owing to recent record.

IKIGAI – checked by VAL THORENS at approx. 350m and galloped as a result.
