STEWARDS REPORT FOR SHEPPARTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – ALABAR PACE (1690 MS)

ELYSIAN PALACE – Driver Laura Wilson was queried regarding the driving tactics adopted through the early stages and the overall performance of the gelding which gave ground from the home turn to be beaten 26m into 8th position.  Ms.Wilson stated that the gelding races best when able to find the lead, however approaching the 1300m it became apparent that this wasn’t an option and she elected to take cover from Aliza Hill.  Ms.Wilson added that she was disappointed with the performance of Elysian Palace and the comments were noted.

HARLEY BLUE– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

STREETS OF MADRID– Gave ground in the home straight to be beaten 47m into last placing.

EAGLE MAJOR– Inconvenienced on the home turn by Elysian Palace.

RACE 2 –YOUR SOLD REAL ESTATE PACE(1690 MS)

ITS DIAMOND CREEK – Pulled hard middle stages.

GLENGARRY RED – Pulled hard middle stages.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 400m.

YANKEE LOVER– Driver Ewa Justice was queried regarding the driving tactics adopted in the home straight.  Ms.Justice stated that on entering the home straight she was of the opinion that the gelding wasn’t travelling well enough to progress into the sprint lane.  Ms.Justice added that over the concluding stages, Yankee Lover began to pick up resulting in the gelding being held up for clear running.  Stewards noted the comments by Ms.Justice, which were supported by the video footage.

RACE 3 – HUNTER RURAL TROT (2190 MS)

MADGE EGAN – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

IVAR – Driver Kevin Weidenbach was queried regarding the performance of the gelding which gave ground in the home straight to be beaten 28m into 9th placing.  Mr.Weidenbach stated the gelding wasn’t suited to racing outside the lead from the mile, however didn’t want to be placed in a position four back on the pegs once the field began compact.  Stewards noted the comments.

STARLIGHT RED – Driver Laura Wilson was queried regarding the driving tactics adopted in the early stages.  Ms.Wilson stated that as per the usual racing pattern she found the lead early following a quicker than average lead time, and the mare travelled comfortably and wasn’t pulling. Ms.Wilson added that she then elected to take cover approaching the 1500m elected behind Silver Spoon.  Stewards noted the comments of Ms.Wilson.

VAN DOREN– Out of position at the start, warning issued.  Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

MELBREH – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

JILLIBY TOPGUN– Broke after the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 4 – ELITE HORSE TRANSPORT PACE (1690 MS)

General- All clear delayed to review Stewards video footage of the concluding stages involving Chirripo (dead heat 4th) racing inside the final two marker pegs prior to the winning post.  After doing so, and taking submissions from driver Laura Wilson, Stewards in accordance with AHR Rule 66(e) & (h) relegated Chirripo to 5th position for gaining an advantage while racing inside marker pegs.  All clear given on 4-5-3-9.

CHIRRIPO– Hung in under pressure and raced inside marker pegs over the concluding stages. 

GIVE ME A MINUTE NZ– Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

RACE 5 – SADDLEWORLD SHEPPARTON PACE (2190 MS)

DANGER PLAY – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising sprint lane.

LUVERBOY – Held up for clear running on the final turn.

ANIMADO– Pulled hard middle stages.

JIMMY BREEZE NZ– Out of position at the start, warning issued.

LILS NIGHTMARE NZ– Held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight.

RACE 6 – CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE 3YO & OLDER MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

CRAZY ON THE BEACH – Pulled hard outside the lead.

VINCENT GRANGE – Raced roughly approaching the final turn.

JOHNNY TANG– Inconvenienced approaching the final turn by Vincent Grange.

VILLAGE SUSPECT– Out of position at the start, warning issued.

COURAGEOUS CAESAR– Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

RACE 7 – COTTRELLS ELECTRICAL PACE (1690 MS)

ACE DUIGAN – (12+yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

PINNACLE HOPE – (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

RACE 8 – AVENEL EQUINE HOSPITAL PACE (1690 MS)

MISTER REBEL – (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

SHEZABLUECHIP – Pulled hard during the score up.  Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

JOEYS HANGOVER – (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormality.

MURIEL– Hung in under pressure in home straight.
