Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – COTTRELLS ELECTRICAL PACE (2190 MS)
CALAQUENDI – Started to tire leaving the 500m mark to be beaten 157.7m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. CALAQUENDI was subsequently stood down one (1) satisfactory stewards’ trial and a period of ten (10) days.
BUS STOP – Sulky contacted by FOLLOWTHEACES approaching the 950m mark when that runner started a three wide move. Started to tire leaving the 300m mark and was inclined to hang in to be beaten 46.2m.
HUNGRY HOGARTH – Surrendered the lead to MICHEN ROY approaching the 1500m mark. Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane.
MICHEN ROY – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching 1500m mark.
MADAM REACTOR – Raced three wide after the start before progressing forward to race outside the leader approaching the 1500m mark. Tightened for racing room and contacted marker pegs when BUS STOP started to hang in approaching the 300m mark.
HONEST HARRIETTE – Raced three-wide with cover from the 900m mark.
SCHEMING – Raced three wide from the 1300m mark before progressing forward to race outside the leader approaching the 1050m mark.
FOLLOWTHEACE – Contacted the sulky of BUS STOP approaching the 950m mark, before racing three-wide without cover from the 900m mark.
RACE 2 – JDC CONTRACTORS PACE (1690 MS)
ROLLING REMONA – Surrendered the lead to NOBLE JULIA approaching the 1400m mark. Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane and was inclined to hang in when placed under pressure.
NOBLE JULIA – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching 1400m mark. Pulled hard once obtaining the lead. Started to tire leaving the 300m mark to be beaten 36.5m. The stable will monitor the gelding’s recovery and report to the stewards if any issues arise within the next 48 hours.
VILLAGE SUSPECT – Raced three wide after the start before being tightened for racing room when REGAL ROCK NZ shifted down, then progressing to a forward position approaching the 1300m mark.
REGAL ROCK NZ – Shifted down after the start placing VILLAGE SUSPECT in tight racing room.
HESAA LISTER – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up, as a result, a last chance in the draw was placed against the gelding for future mobile starts. Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 1450m mark and trailing the field. A last chance to race truly was placed against the gelding.
WALTZING WITH NANA – Started to tire leaving the 400m mark to be beaten 52.9m. A warning was placed against the mare.
RACE 3 – HUNTER RURAL PACE (1690 MS)
ISLAS JOY NZ – Started to tire leaving the 300m mark to be beaten 27.6m.
BLUE OCEAN – Tightened for racing room shortly after the start when FRIENDS and PLAYNICE shifted down.
PINNACLE HOPE – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Held up for clear running entering the home straight, before having to checked and contacted marker pegs when ISLAS JOY started to tire, before using the sprint lane.
FRIENDS – Due to the gelding being 12 years of age, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CRAFTY OLD FOX – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
JOEYS HANGOVER – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 1400m mark then again approaching the 1400m mark. Subsequently JOEYS HANGOVER was stood down one (10) satisfactory steward’s trial.
MYNAMEISRUBY – Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane.
BEAU BRONSKI – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not full tested.
PLAYNICE – Started to tire leaving the 300m mark to be beaten 50.0m. A warning was placed against the gelding.
RACE 4 – SADDLEWORLD SHEPPARTON PACE (1690 MS)
JEDI MIND – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and the gelding being 13 years of age, in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Held up for clear running entering the home straight, contacting marker pegs before using the sprint lane.
HARLEY BLUE – Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane.
SKYFALL BENCHMARK – Due to having not competed in races for more than twelve (12) months was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MUSSEL SHOALS – Raced three wide after the start before progressing to a forward position approaching the 1300m mark. Raced roughly approaching the 300m mark before breaking gait when free of interference approaching the 200m mark. A last chance to race truly was placed against the mare.
PAYUP ORLEAVE – Checked approaching the 200m mark when MUSSEL SHOALS broke gait when free of interference.
BET SHEZA LADY – Had to be steadied approaching the 200m mark when MUSSEL SHOALS broke gait when free of interference.
RACE 5 – AVENEL EQUINE CLINIC TROT (1690 MS)
MONTANA MUSCLE – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 50m mark. A last chance to race truly was placed against the mare. Driver James Herbertson was advised that he is to exercise greater care in future regarding his actions when attempting to get horses back into their gait after breaking during a race.
NIGHT SKY – Surrendered the lead to ALFIE ALWAYS approaching the 1000m mark.
CRESCO MOJITO – Raced roughly approaching the 1500m mark before breaking gait when free of interference and trailing the field.
TETRA – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SILVER SPOON – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 350m mark.
ALFIE ALWAYS – Pulled hard in the early stages of the race, before working forward to obtain the lead approaching 1000m mark.
RACE 6 – ALABAR BLOODSTOCK 3YO 0-1 LTW TROT (2190 MS)
CRESCO CASHFLOW – Started to tire leaving the 700m mark to be beaten 68.4m. A warning was placed against the filly.
PEGGY VALE – Broke gait when free of interference in the latter stages of the score up, out of position when the start was initiated. As a result, the filly will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile races.
AMALIA PEARL – Started to tire leaving the 300m mark to be beaten 27.8m Driver Alex Ashwood reported he was disappointed in the performance of AMALIA PEARL and the stable will monitor the filly’s recovery and report to the stewards if any issues arise within the next 48 hours.
MAJESTIC MONARCH – Out of position when the start was initiated. A warning was placed against the gelding.
HEART OF GRACELAND – Out of position when the start was initiated. As a result, HEART OF GRACELAND will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start races.
RACE 7 – JAM PACKED DONUTS TROTTERS HANDICAP (2190 SS)
DANCES – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching 1800m mark.
DHONI TROUBLE NZ – Surrendered the lead to DANCES approaching the 1800m mark.
ARISTOTLE – Began badly, breaking gait after the start and trailing the field. As a result, ARISTOTLE will be excluded from the barrier draw in future stand start races.
ANTONOV NZ – Broke gait when free of interference after the start. As a result, ANTONOV will be excluded from the barrier draw in future stand start races. Checked and broke gait approaching the 2000m mark.
PARTYTIME – Broke gait when free of interference after the start and trailed the field. As a result, PARTYTIME will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future stand start races.
