STEWARDS REPORT FOR SHEPPARTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – SHRC MEMBERS NIGHT PACE (1690 MS)
The start of this event was delayed by two minutes owing to LOCHIEL LAD NZ requiring a gear adjustment prior to the start.
HIGH FLUX – paced roughly and galloped heading into the first turn; last chance to race tractably. Trailed the field thereafter.
ALTA BAYAMO – no clear running rounding the final turn; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
SPORTING RAGE – galloped in the score-up, fulfilled position on the gate when start effected; last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
MCWIZARD – held up for clear running rounding the final turn.
MAJOR BERT – out of position when the start was effected, despite the efforts of driver Corey Bell; warning issued.
LOCHIEL LAD NZ – checked by HIGH FLUX heading into the first turn.
MIKI LOCH – inconvenienced in the score-up by SPORTING RAGE and out of position as a result.
RANDOM MAHONEY - inconvenienced in the score-up by SPORTING RAGE and out of position as a result.
RACE 2 – THANK YOU MOOROOPNA VOLUNTEERS PACE (1690 MS)
UPRIGHT – tired to be beaten 57.3m into tenth placing; warning issued.
HIGHVIEW HAMMER – hung in during the score-up.
MAJORS CREEK – held up for clear running rounding the final turn; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
EMJAY JAZZ – galloped score-up, out of position when the start was effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Galloped in the back straight on the final occasion; stood down pending the completion of one (1) satisfactory trial owing to recent tractability record.
CHEYS ANGEL – driver George Chamouras reported that the mare paced roughly throughout. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such a warning was issued for the mare’s tractability.
TASTE IT – galloped score-up; continued exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Tired to be beaten 52.5m into ninth placing; warning issued.
RACE 3 – CHRISTMAS FAMILY NIGHT TUES 23/12 TROT (2190 MS)
STARLIGHT RED - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities either examination.
STRAIGHT TO THETOP – held up for clear running rounding the final turn; utilized sprint lane thereafter.
TWIST TEE – out of position when start effected; warning issued. Trotted roughly throughout before yielding ground and tiring to be beaten 138.9m into ninth placing. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such the gelding will now be required to trial satisfactorily on one (1) occasion.
SETTLE THE BILL – galloped heading into the first turn.
BAT OUT OF HILL – trotted roughly and galloped in the back straight on the final occasion; last chance to race tractably owing to recent record.
PRETTYBOY HARRY – driver Tasmyn Potter was queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding who led and yielded ground from approx. 500m to be beaten 97.2m into eighth placing. Ms Potter could offer no tangible explanation for the performance and conveyed her disappointment in the effort. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such the gelding will now be placed on his last chance to race competitively. Stewards intend to follow-up with connections in the coming days as to the gelding’s recovery.
On 5 December 2025, trainer Brent Thompson reported that PRETTYBOY HARRY had recovered satisfactorily in the days following the engagement at Shepparton on 2 December 2025. Mr Thompson explained that the gelding may not be at a stage where he is capable of being driven as positively as he was through the early and middle stages. Mr Thompson added that he would undertake precautionary blood sampling and screening on the gelding and if all was well would continue on with the current preparation.
ANTONOV – inconvenienced shortly after the start by TWIST TEE who was restraining into a position.
COCONUT MIKEY – out of position when start effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Inconvenienced, checked and galloped after the start when TWIST TEE was restraining into a position. Trailed the field thereafter.
RACE 4 – VHRC SUPER BONUS MEETING NEXT TUES CONCESSION DRIVERS PACE (2190 MS)
BERYLS BOOTS – inconvenienced and held up rounding the final turn behind LOCHINVAR CHARM whom was yielding ground at the time.
FAKE CULLECTION – pulled hard in running and then inconvenienced rounding the final turn behind LOCHINVAR CHARM whom was yielding ground at the time.
GO GEORGE GO – competed in this event under the provisions of the Elevated TCO2 policy. Tired to be beaten 71.4m into ninth and last placing; warning issued.
TEMPTING TIGER – driver Stacie Carbone was cautioned for extricating the filly away from her position on the starting gate prior to the start being effected.
EARS THE BOSS – fractious before the start, requiring the assistance of the Clerk of the Course in order to participate in the preliminary; warning issued. Driver Riley Pace was cautioned for allowing his right foot to become removed from the sulky footrest over the concluding stages.
RACE 5 – THANK YOU CHRIS HAZELMAN PACE (2190 MS)
OUR CHEEKY DEVIL – pre-race veterinary examination at the request of Stewards failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and the gelding was cleared to the start.
CLEAR LEFT NZ – held up for clear running rounding the final turn.
RACE 6 – CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE MAIDEN PACE(1690 MS)
ELLEEGANT LANE – galloped score-up, out of position when start effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.
ELIZAJANE – hung inward and contacted the final marker peg.
VINNIES HOPE – galloped in the early part of the score-up, out of position when start effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier starts. Trailed the field thereafter.
MY MATE ACE – Stewards delayed the all-clear to review the official race replays and determine whether MY MATE ACE had gained an advantage when racing inside the line of the final three marker pegs prior to placing third in the event. Stewards were of the view that given the 1.5m margin between the third and fourth placed horses that any advantage gained was not enough to cancel out the beaten margin and declared all clear on the judge’s numbers of 4 – 7 – 9 – 6. At a subsequent inquiry, driver Cameron Maggs was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR 163(1)(c)(i) for the aforementioned particulars.
RACE 7 – WILLOWOOD FARM PACE(1690 MS)
JAPANESE MIKI - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having not competed in 12 months or more. No obvious abnormalities either examination.
WARRIORESS – shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
MASTER MIKI – held up for clear running rounding the final turn.
RACE 8 – CROWBAR DEMOLITIONS MAIDEN PACE(1690 MS)
EEBEEBEE – pulled hard in the score-up.
LOOK AT HER – galloped score-up, out of position when start effected; exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Trailed the field thereafter.
THE GOLDEN HOOK - Stewards delayed the all-clear to review the official race replays and determine whether THE GOLDEN HOOK had gained an advantage when racing inside the line of marker pegs prior to placing third in the event. Stewards were of the view that given the 1.1m margin between the third and fourth placed horses that any advantage gained was not enough to cancel out the beaten margin and declared all clear on the judge’s numbers of 9 – 5 – 7 - 8. At a subsequent inquiry, driver Nathan Jack was fined the sum of $100 under AHRR 163(1)(c)(i) for the aforementioned particulars. Mr Jack was issued with a caution for allowing his right foot to become removed from the sulky footrest over the concluding stages.
RACE 9 – GOODFELLOWS MAIDEN TROT(2190 MS)
CRESCO CASHFLOW – locked wheels with TAKEN BY WINE rounding the final turn.
SAMMY HALLER – galloped rounding the first turn. Checked and broke by SEBS GAL rounding the final turn.
ALDEBARANHARLEQUIN – inconvenienced rounding the first turn when SAMMY HALLER galloped. Pulled hard in running thereafter. Galloped under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver Steven Lindberg was cautioned for the manner in which he activated removable gear with his left foot rounding the final turn.
OUR ARNOLD - inconvenienced rounding the first turn when SAMMY HALLER galloped. Checked rounding the final turn when CRESCO CASHFLOW and TAKEN BY WINE locked wheels.
SEBS GAL – out of position when the start was effected owing to runners drawn along either side not being in their true positions. No action taken against SEBS GAL in the circumstances. Galloped rounding the final turn; last chance to race tractably.
FARSTAR – pulled hard score-up.
TAKEN BY WINE - pre-race veterinary examination at the request of Stewards failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and the gelding was cleared to the start. Locked wheels with CRESCO CASHFLOW rounding the final turn.
PASTOR DUNBAR – out of position when the start was effected; continued exclusion from future mobile barrier draws.
