Race 1 - POWER UP LAWN MOWERS PACE 1780M
Whateley (Taleah McMullen) had a tendency to hang out racing into the first turn however raced tractably thereafter.
Mystical Jazz (Lachie Manzelmann) commenced a three wide run from towards the rear of the field near the 1400 metres then progressed forward in an attempt to take over the position outside the leader however, was unsuccessful as she commenced to hang in noticeably resulting in the driver restraining the filly to the rear of the field. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 60.6 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were unable to offer an explanation for the filly’s overall performance notwithstanding the race’s fast 1:56.5 mile rate.
Race 2 - TAB VENUE MODE PACE 2040M
Jilliby Gizmo (Ricky Gordon) led and withstood an early challenge for the lead. Driver R Gordon was fined $150 under the provisions of AHRR162(1)(y) for exceeding the minimum time standard of 65 seconds whilst leading, he having completed the first 800 metres in 66.4 seconds.
Shakatie (Nathan Dawson) mounted an unsuccessful early challenge for the lead then was restrained to the position trailing the leader.
Bella Godiva (Mathew Neilson) shifted out from a midfield pegline position near the 1500 metres to lead the one wide line thereafter.
Race 3 - REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB PACE 2040M
Our Dolly (Nathan Dawson) had a tendency to over race throughout the middle stages of the race. Hung in and contacted the marker pegs entering the back straight on the final occasion - a warning was issued. Trainer W Hinze advised the Stewards that he would make corrective gear changes.
Always At Night (Zane Quaedvlieg) hung in and contacted marker pegs on a number of occasions during the race – a warning was issued.
Flash Freddie (Zac Chappenden) had a tendency to over race throughout the middle stages of the race.
Race 4 - STU VALENTINE FOR BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE PACE 2040M
Manoflisa (Trent Hodges) led and withstood a strong challenge for the lead throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore fetlock. On veterinary advice Manoflisa is stood down from racing for 7 days and until a veterinary certificate of soundness is submitted. Queried driving tactics – noted.
Ally Pink (Dannielle Veivers) mounted an unsuccessful extended challenge for the lead. Commenced to give ground from the 400 metres ultimately being beaten 48.6 metres. Driving tactics queried – adjourned.
Artistic Humma (Trent Moffat) tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 103 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards deemed the run unsatisfactory and the gelding is stood down from racing pending a satisfactory requalifying trial.
General
Stewards questioned T Hodges, driver of Manoflisa, regarding the driving tactics he employed, most specifically his holding the lead whilst enduring an extended challenge from Ally Pink. Mr Hodge’s explained that once he was able to cross to the lead at the start he elected to hold the lead as Manoflisa performs best when able to lead. Stewards confirmed this on perusal of the gelding’s extended form. Mr Hodges added that he had indicated to Mrs D Veivers, who was challenging for the lead with Ally Pink, that he had no intention of handing up the lead. Manolisa battled on well to finish less than 3 metres from the placings in 5th position.
General
Stewards questioned Mrs D Veivers, driver of Ally Pink, regarding the driving tactics which she employed in the race, most specifically, Mrs Veivers decision to mount an extended challenge for the lead. After taking some evidence from Mrs Veivers as well as from trainer R Veivers, Stewards adjourned the inquiry in order to consider other aspects of the race.
Race 5 - GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND 1 WIN PACE 1780M
A false start was declared at the first attempt when Ms C Butler, driver of Bustaballoon, signalled to the started that the gelding had suffered a gear malfunction that being the front connection on the near side lugging pole became detached.
Swift Change (Nathan Dawson) broke after the start - placed out of the draw in future mobile barrier races.
Race 6 - ELDERS WOODFORD PACE 2040M
Ima Birubi Boy (Dannielle Veivers) commenced a three wide run from the rear of the field near the 700 metres, progressed forward sharply then gave ground over the concluding stages beaten 27 metres. A post race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to have a slow post race recovery. As well, the gelding was found to be lame in the off side fore leg. On veterinary advice Ima Birubi Boy is stood down from racing for 7 days and until a veterinary certificate of soundness is submitted.
Race 7 - HYGAIN FEEDS PACE 2040M
Writeaboutchelsea (Trent Hodges) hung in shortly after the start was effected whilst being restrained. As a result Jukebox Jet which was to its inside was severely checked a broke stride. Writeaboutchelsea has been been placed out of the draw in future mobile barrier races.
Rafferty Delights (Trent Moffat) had tendency to hang in shortly after the start was effected.
Jukebox Jet (David Stewart) was severely checked shortly after the start was effected.
