Supplementary Report: Stewards conducted random stable inspections and collected out of competition samples at the premises of trainers who have horses engaged in tonight’s race meeting.

Race 1 - MAZDA ASPLEY BAND 5 PACE   1780M

Hands On NZ (Robert Morris) inclined to hang in on the first turn and when crossing to the lead at the 1300 metres.

General

Taleah McMullen (Red Right Hand) pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR rule 156(3) for using the whip in an unapproved manner by using the whip continuously without allowing the horse time to respond. A fine of $400 was imposed and in assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account a recent breach under this rule.

Race 2 – 2024 COMFORT INN & SUITES NORTHGATE REDCLIFFE DERBY CONSOLATION  2280M

Air Express (Trista Dixon) galloped at the start and lost significant ground. Galloped again when racing at the tail of the field at the 1200 metres. Connections were advised Air Express will be drawn wide in future mobile starts and further the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Blackjack Crippa (Grant Dixon) hung in throughout the race when racing in a forward marker peg position. Connections were advised to take corrective measures.

Novanta Rising (Bernie Hewitt) slow to muster speed in the initial stages of the score up. Checked after the start when Air Express galloped. Broke gait free of interference on entrance to the back straight on the final occasion. After considering the gelding’s record in this regard, connections were advised Novanta Rising will be barred from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed.

Race 3 - 2024 LADBROKES REDCLIFFE OAKS CONSOLATION  2280M

Eye Can Try (Robert Morris) failed to run on as expected in the concluding stages and finished in third position beaten 9.5 metres. Connections advised they weren’t overly disappointed with the performance advising the filly had raced to its ability.

Skygirl  (Nathan Rothwell) galloped at the 300 metres after contacting the near side sulky wheel of Majorita Jujon

Synchronizer (Trista Dixon) Checked on the final turn when Skygirl galloped.

Wot Dya Reckon (Luke McCarthy) Checked on the final turn when Skygirl galloped.

Firebolt (Grant Dixon) broke after the start was affected and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile starts.

Hatties Jewel (Adam Richardson) pulled hard in the middle stages of the event requiring driver Adam Richardson to move the filly three wide.  Adam Richardson advised the mare was not suited to the slow early half which was recorded in the moderate time of 62.6 seconds. Checked on the final turn when Skygirl galloped. Trainer Phil Mitchell was advised to take the necessary corrective measures and the mare will be placed on its last chance to race truly. Back in the mobile draw after two successful consecutive starts.

General

Stewards inquired into an incident on the final turn in which Skygirl (Nathan Rothwell) galloped and caused runners trailing to be inconvenienced. After taking evidence from Adam Sanderson (Majorita Jujon) and Nathan Rothwell, Stewards charged Nathan Rothwell under AHR rule 168 (1) (a) for careless driving by allowing Skygirl to advance in limited room which resulted in the filly contacting the sulky wheel of Majorita Jujon and galloping. Stewards found Nathan Rothwell in breach of the rule and a fine of $100 was imposed. In assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account some mitigating circumstances in his favour and the minor shift of Mojorita Jujon to his outside.

Race 4 - 2024 ELDERS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PRINCESS OF THE BAY 1780M

Mahindi NZ (Alanah Richardson) tightened for racing room on the first turn when racing to the inside of Myra Dawn which had a tendency to hang in.

Myra Dawn (Mitch Turnbull) inclined to hang in on the first turn when racing in a three wide position.

Jewel Melody (Bernie Hewitt) raced four wide for the first 600 metres before progressing forward to race in a forward three wide position. Unsuccessful in obtaining a position closer to the marker pegs and raced wide for the entire event which contributed to the mare tiring in the concluding stages.

Manhattan NZ (Chloe Butler) raced three wide for the first 600 metres before progressing forward to obtain the position without cover.

General

Rickie Alchin (Pandaia NZ) was fined $200 under AHR rule 156(2)(a) for using more than a flicking motion whilst applying the whip in the concluding stages.

Race 5 – 2024 LADBROKES REDCLIFFE OAKS (G3)  2280M

Sheer Artistry NZ (Leonard Cain) back from its allotted position at the start.General

Leonard Cain (Sheer Artistry NZ) was reprimanded under AHR rule 162 (1) (j) for failing to make sufficient effort to maintain his position behind the starting gate until reaching the starting point.

Race 6 - 2024 COMFORT INN & SUITES NORTHGATE REDCLIFFE DERBY (G3)  2280M

Major Hot NZ (Adam Sanderson) contacted a marker peg on entrance to the home straight.

Royal Cruiser (Doug Hewitt) contacted its own sulky with its hind legs which contributed to the gelding pulling hard throughout the event when racing at the rear of the field. Connections were advised to ensure the sulky is affixed in future at a length that prevents a reoccurrence.

General

Adam Sanderson (Major Hot NZ) was fined $200 under AHR rule 163 (1) (c) (ii) for carelessly making contact to a marker peg on entrance to the home straight.

Race 7 – 2024 GARRARDS REDCLIFFE YEARLING SALES SERIES 2YO FINAL  1780M

Fly Burra (Pete McMullen) galloped shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Connections were advised Fly Burra will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts.

Jive Master (Ricky Alchin) back from its allotted position at the starting point.

General

Rickie Alchin (Jive Master) was fined $200 under AHR rule 162(1)(h) for failing to make sufficient effort to have his horse fully in position at the start.

Race 8 - 2024 ELDERS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT REDCLIFFE GOLD CUP (G2)  2613M

Last Tango In Heaven NZ (Jack Callaghan) galloped out at the start and lost valuable ground. A warning was issued.

Teddy Disco (Nathan Dawson) galloped out at the start and lost valuable ground. A warning was issued.

Miracle Moose NZ (Adam Sanderson) galloped out at the start and a warning was issued.

Simply Sam NZ (Robert Morris) galloped out for a few strides was slow to muster speed at the start warning was issued.

Northview Hustler NZ 

Turn It Up (Shane Graham) galloped free of interference on the first turn but quickly settled back into a pace. Progressed around the field three wide towards the lead but again became unbalanced leaving the back straight on the first occasion and galloped. Driver Shane Graham stated the gelding failed to handle the Redcliffe circuit and was his intention not to nominate the gelding to race at this venue in future. After considering a good record in regard to race behaviour, Stewards advised connections turn it up will be ineligible to race at Redcliffe until a satisfactory trial is performed.

Send It (Kelli Dawson) checked at the 400 metres when racing to the inside of Simply Sam NZ.

General

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred approaching the 200 metres in which Send It (Kelli Dawson) was checked and galloped momentarily. After viewing the stewards patrol footage and taking evidence from the drivers concerned, Robert Morris pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR rule 163 (1) (a)(iii) for causing interference to Send It by allowing Simply Sam NZ to shift in and contact the off side foreleg of Send It. The driver’s license of Robert Morris suspended for 10 days and stewards directed this term of suspension commence 30 June 2024.

Race 9 - LADBROKES TROTTERS CUP (UP TO NR60 MOBILE)  2280M

Lindy Grace (Adam Richardson) broke at the start and the mare will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events. Galloped free of interference at the 900 metres and the mare will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Jansson NZ (Doug Hewitt) broke after the start and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile starts.

Tumult (Adam Sanderson) out of position when the start was affected and the mare will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts.

Race 10 - POWER UP LAWN MOWERS QUALIFYING PACE    2040M

Dattitude (Nathan Rothwell) pulled hard throughout the event.

Pyrrhic Dancer (Adam Richardson) raced keenly in the early stages.
