Race 1 - LADBROKES EASY FORM UP TO NR70 PACE     1780M  [MS]

Carter Grant (Nathan Dawson) Hung-in whilst racing wider on the track passing the 250metres, placing the runner to its immediate inside RAGING SEA (Scott Hewitt) in restricted racing room and connections were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding and to take corrective measures to ensure the horse races more truly.

Raging Sea (Scott Hewitt) Caught three-wide through the early stages of the event before working forward to initially obtain the position leading the one-wide line near the 1500metres prior to gaining one-out one-back cover from MIDNIGHT CALM (Matt Elkins) leaving the 1350metres. Checked and broke gait as a result when placed in restricted racing room to the inside of CARTER GRANT (Nathan Dawson) passing the 250metres which was inclined to hang-in.     

Midnight Calm (Matt Elkins) Gate speed however, raced four-wide initially around the first turn after the start before progressing forward three-wide in the early stages to attain the position outside the leader leaving the 1350metres before obtaining one-out one-back cover from LANAI (Nathan Rothwell) passing the 1100metres. Contacted and punctured the offside sulky tyre of BETTOR ROMANCE (Chloe Butler) near the 350metres when shifting from a marker line position wider on the track. Driver fined careless driving [AHRR168(1)(a)].

Vindicate NZ (Adam Richardson) Caught-wide shortly after the start and was restrained to the rear of the field. Inconvenienced passing the 250meters as a result of RAGING SEA breaking gait.

Lanai (Nathan Rothwell) Showed gate speed however, raced five-wide initially around the first turn after the start before progressing forward three-wide with cover in the early stages in attaining the position leading the one-wide line passing the 1100metres, where raced for the remainder. Reinstated in the barrier draw for races conducted under mobile start conditions after satisfying QRIC requirements with two(2) successful consecutive mobile starts.  

Aliberto NZ (Ricky Thurlow) Inclined to race keenly during the early and middle stages of the event whilst racing in the position behind the leader resulting in the gelding contacting the preceding runner MAHINDI NZ (Alanah Richardson) sulky on the turn out of the front straight on the final occasion consequential in ALIBERTO NZ momentarily pacing roughly. Utilized the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

Bettor Romance (Chloe Butler) Sulky contacted by MIDNIGHT CALM (Matt Elkins) and an offside flat tyre sustained near the 350metres when MIDNIGHT CALM shifted wider on the track after trailing. Failed to obtain clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested to the line.  

Itzmineontheline (Seaton Grima) Inclined to pull hard during the score-up. Failed to obtain clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested to the line.

General: 

Matt Elkins, driver of MIDNIGHT CALM was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AHR Rule 168 (1) (a) for careless driving in that when shifting his gelding wider on the track near the 350metres he contacted and punctured the offside sulky tyre of BETTOR ROMANCE which may have placed that mare at some disadvantage in the run to the finish.

Race 2 – GARRARDS HERE AT THE TRACK BAND 5 PACE     1780M  [MS]

Dance Addition (Adam Sanderson) Inclined to shift-out whilst leading rounding the final turn.

Always Thunder (Bernie Hewitt) Hung-out after the start was effected inconveniencing HAY THERE JOE (Nathan Dawson) which was drawn to its immediate outside and connections were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Yielded ground over the concluding stages of the event to ultimately be beaten in excess of 32metres into ninth and last placing. Stewards directed a post-race veterinary examination of ALWAYS THUNDER, which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near side foreleg. Stewards adopted the veterinary officer's recommendation that the gelding not be permitted to race until a veterinary clearance is provided by connections.

Hay There Joe (Nathan Dawson) Inconvenienced shortly after the start when ALWAYS THUNDER (Bernie Hewitt) hung-out after the start. Failed to obtain clear running in the latter stages of the home straight and was not fully tested to the line.   

Rock Supreme (Bryse McElhinney) Caught three-wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to initially attain the position outside the leader leaving the 1300metres prior to obtaining one-out one-back cover from PACIFICO DREAM (Jack Chapple) near the 1100metres.

Zenxena (Scott Hewitt) Utilized the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

Pacifico Dream (Jack Chapple) Left a one-wide midfield trailing position near the 1350metres, working forward three-wide to the position outside the leader near the 1100metres, where raced for the remainder.

Race 3 - POWER UP LAWN MOWERS MARES NO BAND PACE     1780M  [MS]

Betting Star (Narissa McMullen) Overraced and pulled hard during the early and middle stages of the event whilst racing in the position behind the leader. Held-up and checked behind the weakening GLENLEA HANOVER (Alanah Richardson) leaving the 300metres before obtaining clear running via the sprint lane in the run to the finish, finishing strongly.

Achromatic (Jack Chapple) Paced roughly prior to breaking free of interference near the 450metres. After considering a good record in this regard, connections were advised ACHROMATIC would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Glenlea Hanover (Alanah Richardson) Successfully withstood a challenge for the lead from MY CRACKLING ROSIE (Scott Hewitt) in the early stages to lead the event. Overraced and pulled hard during the early and middle stages whilst leading the event before yielding ground over the concluding stages of the event.   

My Crackling Rosie (Scott Hewitt) Gate speed however, was unsuccessful in challenging for the lead in the early stages and as a result was obliged to race leading the one-wide line throughout.

Jewel Melody (Bernie Hewitt) Commenced a three-wide run late with no cover from a one-out one-back position turning into the back straight on the final occasion.

Kowhai Blaze NZ (Brendan Barnes) Failed to take part in the preliminary circle and connections were advised KOWHAI BLAZE NZ will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events until Stewards are satisfied the mare can perform in the desired manner.  

Race 4 - STEVIE REDBACK PEST CONTROL PACE     2040M  [MS]

General:

Subsequent to the running of race three an on-track power failure affecting track lights occurred placing a large section of the track in darkness. As a result, initially, the remaining races were rescheduled back two(2) time slots however, after the lighting failure was unable to be rectified, the remainder of the race program (R4 – R10) was abandoned.
