Race 1 – POWER UP LAWN MOWERS - HUSTLER RAPTOR BAND 5 PACE   2040m  Mobile

MY ULTIMATE CARTER – Shifted in entering the back straight on the final occasion, resulting in a marker being struck

LAST TIME JOE – Raced keen throughout. Failed to secure clear running over the concluding stages.

ELLIS STREET – raced wide for the first 400 metres before working to the position outside the leader.

ALTA WILLIAM – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

General: Stewards questioned driver P McMulen (LAST TIME JOE) as to why he elected not to ease wider in the back straight on the final occasion. This resulted in LAST TIME JOE failing to secure clear running. Driver McMullen stated that he believed moving wider when clear in the back straight, he would be obliged to lead the three-wide line shortly after leaving the 600, a task he felt was beyond his gelding, this combined he was trailing ELLIS STREET, a favoured runner in the event, he believed to remain trailing that gelding was his best option. When further questioned if he thought there may have been a possibility to shift wider near the 300, driver McMullen stated that he was unable to do so as he would be required to ease back approximately half a length and move from the one-out line before switching four-wide. The evidence was noted as tendered.

Race 2 – WOLF SIGNS QUALIFYING PACE     1780m  Mobile

EAGLESPRIDE – Raced rough under pressure over the final 80 metres. A subsequent Veterinary Examination failed to find any obvious issues. On questioning driver A Garrard stated that the gelding can race rough at times.

HOLD ONTO YA BLING – Shifted in near the 400 resulting in markers being struck.

HELLO I TEA – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

DEEBO – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

ALIBERTO NZ – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events after breaking in the early stages of the score-up resulting in the gelding being well out of position at the start, effectively taking no competitive part in the event.

General: Stewards reprimanded trainers C Judd (WITHDISTINCTION) and S Graham (MIGHTY JOLT) for presenting their respective horses to race not wearing the correct registered gear [AHR Rule 273(5)(b)].

Race 3 – 2025 THE C J (FORMERLY PATRONS PURSE) (GROUP 3)   2280m   Mobile

MYDADSAID – Tightened racing into the first turn, sulky contacted markers before racing rough.

BETERTHANCASH NZ – Hung in when crossing to the lead entering the first turn

ROCKET CITY – Declared a late scratching at 7:20pm by Stewards acting on Veterinary advice due to a mishap in the race night stalls. As the gelding was treated, it was subsequently stood down from racing for a period of five(5) days.

SURE THING CAPTAIN – Scratched due to being ineligible to start

FOR REAL LIFE – Raced rough passing then 400 and failed to run on as may have been expected. A postrace Veterinary Examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. On questioning trainer T Dawson expressed his disappointment with the horse, adding that due to an interrupted preparation leading up to the summer carnival, FOR REAL LIFE may have been slightly underdone for tonight’s event. Finally, trainer Dawson committed to contacting Stewards should anything come to light which may help explain the below par performance.

FREE THINKER – Emergency runner gained start.

General: Stewards questioned drivers L Cain (MYDADSAID) and P McMulen (BETTERTHANCASH NZ) into the reason why MYDADSAID raced rough, contacting markers, racing into the first turn. Stewards, after taking evidence from the drivers, reviewing the official race footage, and considering their own observations, charged driver McMullen for “…directly or indirectly causing another runner (MYDADSAID) to shift inside the line of the marker pegs ….”. Stewards in issuing the charge placed great weight of the evidence provided by driver Cain. When questioned, driver Cain stated that he felt driver McMullen had tried to ease the pressure, pressure he believed was caused by BETTERTHANCASH NZ hanging in, adding that when driver McMullen checked his gelding, the momentum of BETTERTHANCASH NZ stalled, bringing their horses closer together. Finally, driver Cain stated that there was no contact to MYDADSAID, rather his gelding had jumped a marker. Driver McMullen pled not guilty to the charge, however after considering the plea, Stewards found driver McMullen guilty as charged, although acknowledging there were some mitigating circumstances, as presented by driver Cain. Stewards on considering penalty took all mentioned above into consideration, plus driver McMullen’s driving record which shows over 3000 drives without suspension, and imposed a monetary penalty of $300 [AHR Rule 163(1)(d)].

General: Stewards questioned Jordan Prentice, part owner of the winner MYDADSAID, regarding reports that ‘words’ had been aimed at driver P McMullen after the event. Stewards clearly pointed out that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and strongly advised both Mr Prentice and all connections not to continue, either now or in the future, with this adverse conduct.

Race 4 – STEVIE REDBACK PEST CONTROL UP TO NR70 PACE       1780m   Mobile

MY ULTIMATE COSSIE – Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

HOT ROD HARRY – Led the three-wide line from the 800 failed to run on as may have been expected. The gelding was found to have a good post-race recovery. On questioning trainer T Dawson expressed his disappointment much along the same lines as with FOR REAL LIFE in the previous event. Trainer Dawson again committed to contacting Stewards should anything come to light which may help explain the below par performance.

Race 5 – 2025 GARRARDS REDCLIFFE YEARLING SALE SERIES - 2YO FINAL   1780m   Mobile

ADAH KOKO – Led the event, failed to settle.

HIGHNMIGHTY – Contacted the final marker on straightening for the run to the finish. Driver N Dawson was reprimanded [AHR Rule 163(1)(c)(ii)].

CALL IT BLING – Left the one-out, one-back position near the 1400, worked forward to be positioned leading the one-out line.

LOUMINATE (Em 1) – Emergency not required

PICCOLO DIAVOLO – Held up in the early stages of the home straight in the run to the finish.

BOSTON ASSASSIN – Inconvenienced midway through the home straight when PICCOLO DIAVOLO was angled wide in search of clear running.

CHECKINGOUTTHEBILL – Gave ground over the concluding stages.

General: Stewards questioned driver A Richardson over the somewhat disappointing performance of ADAH KOKO, which led the event, however failed to finish the race as may have been expected, beaten 15.3 metres, with an individual milerate of 1:57.5. Driver Richardson confirmed his disappointment, particularly with the filly’s previous winning performance, adding he was confident of another strong performance in tonight’s event, in saying this, driver Richardson did add that he had noticed signs recently that ADAH KOKO was nearing the end of her preparation as unwanted traits had begun to show during races. When questioned as to why, when leading, he did not ease the tempo midrace when not pressured, driver Richrdson replied that he was unable to as ADAH KOKO had grabbed the bit, failing to relax. Finally, driver Richardson confirmed that based on recent performances and the fact ADAH KOKO had had a long preparation, racing in two(2) states, the filly would be turned out immediately for spelling. Stewards noted the evidence as tendered.

General: Stewards questioned driver L Dwyer over the performance of, as well as the tactics adopted on, race favourite CALL IT BLING. Firstly, driver Dwyer stated that he and the connections were happy with the performance, believing that the manner the race was run, did not suit the gelding. When questioned regarding the tactics, driver Dwyer stated that the tactics were based on the previous weeks race where he sat outside ADAH KOKO to be narrowly beaten, and as the belief was that CALL IT BLING would gain some advantage with the run, the connections felt being able to have clear running added to their belief in the gelding, that to race leading the one-out line would be the best place for CALL IT BLING to race. Driver Dwyer added that unfortunately the leader ADAH KOKO ran along quicker than he had expected, obliging CALL IT BLING to work harder than expected. Stewards noted the evidence as tendered.
