Race 1 - BURWOOD STUD 2YO MAIDEN PACE 1780M
Fly Burra raced in a forward trailing position until being left leading the one wide line near the 1250 metres.
Air Bornled the one wide line prior to dropping down to the trailing position behind the leader near the 1250 metres.
Little Surfer Girl broke free of interference near the 1250 metres – placed on her last chance to race truly.
Whykikamoocow was inconvenienced by a galloping runner near the 1250 metres.
Rapid Actiontired over the concluding however no action was taken due this being only the gelding’s second race start as well as the faster than average race time.
Race 2 - WOLF SIGNS PACE 1780M
This race started approximately two minutes behind the scheduled starting time due to holding for a late starting race at Northam.
Marksman hung out and briefly broke stride mid score-up – placed on its last chance in the draw in mobile barrier races.
Frame Drive pulled hard when leading the one wide line prior to being retired from the race by its driver in the front straight with a lap to travel. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Driver Matt Elkins reported that he believes the gelding had choked down – as a consequence, Frame Drive is stood down from racing pending a satisfactory requalifying trial.
Highway Writerwas caught racing wide early prior to being obliged to restrain to the rear of the field subsequent to being unable to cross the runner leading the one wide line to its inside which was severely over racing. The gelding failed to run on finishing in last place beaten in excess of 29 metres. When questioned trainer Ben Battle explained to the Stewards that the gelding most likely had difficulty gaining traction with its new corrective shoeing and that he would be exploring alternatives prior to it racing again.
Man Of Action NZ was obliged to circle the preceding runner in the front straight with a lap to travel when that runner choked down and was being retired from the race.
Race 3 - STEVIE REDBACK PEST CONTROL PACE 1780M
Our Uncle Les pulled hard in the score up then over raced throughout whilst leading.
Vermont hung out near the 450 metres momentarily locking sulky wheels with the sulky of the runner to its outside.
Blissfull Identity briefly challenged for the lead prior to dropping in behind the leading after 350 metres. Had a tendency to over race throughout the middle stages.
For Our Delightshowed initial gate speed however was caught wide prior to being restrained to the rear of the field.
Holme Boyworked forward from the start to lead the one wide line throughout.
My Ultimate Louie momentarily locked sulky wheels with the sulky of the runner to its inside near the 450 metres when that runner hung out slightly.
Race 4 - HYGAIN FEEDS PACE 1780M
This race started approximately 2 ½ minutes behind the scheduled starting time due to a technical error with the mobile barrier.
Isla And Addie was held up for clear running prior to finishing moderately in the run to the finish.
Melton Insultedled then gave ground from the 400 metres.
Braeview Fella sustained an offside flat tyre near the 200 metres when he hung out slightly whilst another runner was easing out from behind it.
Pretty Little Liar contacted the outside sulky wheel of the preceding runner near the 200 metres when that runner hung out slightly as Pretty Little Liar was commencing to improve its position three wide.
Hay Bale Hustler contacted the inside sulky wheel of the runner to its outside and broke stride near the 250 metres. Evidence from Shane Graham driver of Hay Bale Hustler as well as the official race videos showed general tightening from the three runners to the outside which all shifted in marginally. No horse or driver being deemed solely responsible for the tightening - no action was taken against Hay Bale Hustler.
Major Lincoln was held up for clear running until finishing strongly down the outside in the run to the finish – not fully tested.
Race 5 - SECTIONALS & RATINGS AT SULKY.APP BAND 5 CONDITIONED PACE 2040M
NurburgringNZ had a tendency to pull extremely hard whilst leading the one wide line throughout resulting in the gelding giving ground from the 300 metres.
Rocket Boywas held up for clear running on the final turn then finished strongly down the outside for third.
Monsieur Delacourfailed to gain a clear run to the finish – untested.
Tiger By The Tailwas held up for clear running until utilising the sprint lane to finish fourth.
Race 6 - GARRARDS HERE AT THE TRACK UP TO NR70 PACE 1780M
Borsellinohad a tendency to overrace midfield throughout the middle stages.
Carter Grant withstood a strong early challenge for the lead.
My Crackling Rosie mounted a strong unsuccessful early challenge for the lead then was obliged to lead the one wide line thereafter.
Vindicate NZworked forward three wide early to drop in to a one out one back position near the 1400 metres. Was held up for clear running until gaining a clear run in the home straight and finishing strongly.
Promisingcommenced a three wide run from the rear of the field near the 750 metres.
Mach Assassinwas held up for clear running on the final turn then finished well along the sprint lane.
Subtle Delight pulled extremely hard at the rear of the field throughout.
Race 7 - LADBROKE IT! PACE 1780M
Hes Sweet was unable to resist an early challenge for the lead. Utilised the sprint lane to finish second.
Merry Jewel led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail near the 1400 metres.
Master Charles was examined by the on-course veterinarian on arrival at the course at the request of trainer Peter Grieg and was subsequently a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:40 PM having been found to have injured an eye in transit.
Misstrepo worked forward three wide to take over the position leading the one wide line near the 1400 metres.
Ollie Olliewas held up for clear running on the final turn then failed to gain a clear run to the finish – untested.
Eternal Gold hung in and contacted marker pegs on the first turn – a warning was issued.
Race 8 - DAN COSTELLO PHOTOGRAPHY PACE 2040M
Samantha Cee gave ground from the 450 metres.
Tomahawk Bart contacted its own sulky with its hind legs throughout. Trainer Ricky Thurlow was advised to take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.
Khulan Kid led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail near the 1700 metres.
Studleigh Mark worked forward three wide from the start to lead the one wide line from the 1700 metres. Gained a one out one back trail near the 1400 metres.
Our Ultimate Ivy NZwas passed fit to start after undergoing a veterinary examination subsequent to having a shoe replaced at the barrier. Driver Paula Sapio was reprimanded under the provisions of AHRR163(1)(c)(ii) for allowing her inside sulky wheel to contact marker pegs. In not taking more severe action Stewards were aware that although Ms Sapio had received a recent reprimand they took into account her relative inexperience overall including driving at the tight Redcliffe track. Further, Ms Sapio was put on notice that any further contravention of this rule would most likely result in more severe action being taken by the Stewards.
The Masked Crusader NZ raced three wide with a trail to the 1700 metres then worked forward three wide to take over the position leading the one wide line near the 1400 metres.
Rightyo was held up behind a tiring runner from the 450 metres losing significant ground then finished strongly once clear.
Cote Dazur NZ commenced a three wide run from the rear of the field near the 850 metres.
Race 9 - MAZDA ASPLEY 0 TO 3 WINS PACE (SKY 2) 1780M
Mufasa Bart is placed back in the mobile barrier draw having satisfied the QRIC requirements.
Pumpkin Pat pulled hard in the score up. Utilised the sprint lane to finish second.
Kerbang punched through from the second line to lead the one wide line throughout.
Race 10 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT MAIDEN PACE (SKY 2) 1780M
The Square Dancerwas checked by a galloping runner in the back straight on the final occasion.
My Scimitarcontacted the sulky of the preceding runner near the 600 metres and broke stride checking trailing runners. Driver Riley Butt was fined $100, Mr Butt having pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of AHRR168(1)(a) in that, in the back straight on the final occasion, he carelessly allowed My Scimitar to contact the sulky of the preceding runner resulting the gelding breaking stride and checking trailing runners.
The Cookie Monster was checked by a galloping runner in the back straight on the final occasion.
Light Up Loveyhung in with its inside sulky wheel contacting marker pegs – a warning was issued.
