Subsequent to race one an electrical power problem caused major problems for the main tower systems including radio and television telecast, photo finish as well as on track lighting which would have been required for the final two races.  As a result races two, three, and four were rescheduled back one race with subsequent races rescheduled as follows:

Race 5: 3:54 PM

Race 6: 4:16 PM

Race 7: 4:42 PM

Race 8: 5:05 PM

Race 1 - HYGAIN FEEDS 4YO & OLDER 1 WIN PACE  1780M

Bettor Dream Sweet severely checked and broke entering the home straight. 

Devine Destiny pulled extremely hard whilst leading until commencing to tire from the 450 metres ultimately finishing in last place being beaten in excess of 39 metres. Hung in and contacted a marker peg whilst giving ground on the final turn. Having considered that the gelding was having its first start for almost 6 months and considering its manners in this race and its overall record, Stewards placed Devine Destiny on its last chance to race truly.  

Lady Allegra worked forward to lead the one wide line throughout.

Speedy Sport led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail after 250 metres. Shifted in entering the home straight resulting in its inside sulky wheel contacting the front legs of Bettor Dream Sweet which broke stride as a result. Driver suspended – causing interference.

General

The driver’s licence of Graham Betts, driver of Speedy Sport, was suspended for 10 days he having pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of AHRR163(1)(iii). Details of the charge were that entering the home straight Mr Betts has allowed Speedy Sport to shift down when not sufficiently clear of the front legs of Bettor Dream Sweet resulting in his inside sulky wheel contacting the front legs of Bettor Dream Sweet which was broke stride as a result. In assessing penalty Stewards were cognisant of Mr Bett’s good and guilty plea as well as the penalty guidelines and precedents. At the request of Mr Betts, Stewards ordered the suspension to commence midnight April 18, 2024. Mr Betts is eligible to resume driving on April 29, 2024.

Race 2 – WOLF SIGNS PACE   1780M

Bertils Firefox withstood an early challenge for the lead. 

Rockin Chika led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail after 250 metres. Gave ground from the 400 metres.

Doolittle Dazzler worked forward three wide to take over the position outside the leader after 250 metres. 

Champagne Reactor utilised the sprint lane to finish third. 

Race 3 - DARREN EBERT & CO PACE 1780M

Courageous Leo led then gave ground from the 400 metres.  

Heavenly Wisdom led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail near the 1250 metres.

Jet Force commenced a three wide run from the rear of the field with a lap to travel.

Datsinahurri commenced a three wide from midfield near the 1350 metres to work forward and take over the position leading the one wide line near the 1150 metres.

Race 4 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT PACE    2040M

Sammys Secret led however was unable to hold the lead when strongly challenged early, losing the position after 250 metres.

Certainlycallitin led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail near the 1600 metres.

Crime Time raced wide early whilst working forward to take over the position leading the one wide line near the 1600 metres.

Underthekilt tired from the 450 metres to finish in last place beaten in excess of 62 metres – placed on his last chance to race competitively.

Rock With Nate was held up behind a tiring runner on the final turn losing significant ground the n finished well once clear. 

Race 5 – COMFORT INN NORTHGATE PACE  1780M

Blackjack Beth withstood a challenge for the lead.

Threentwo issued an unsuccessful challenge for the lead from outside the leader. Gave ground from the 450 metres.

Count Montecarlo raced three wide for the first 400 metres prior to dropping in to the one out one back position. Commenced a three wide run near the 650 metres. Tired from the 450 metres to be beaten 56 metres – placed on its last chance to race competitively.  

Betting Baron commenced a three wide run from a rearward position to work forward to take over the position outside the leader from the tiring Threentwo.

For No Reason’s driver Dan Russell was fined $400 under the provisions of AHRR156(2)a) for utilising his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight. When assessing penalty Stewards took into account this was Mr Russell’s second offence within a 56 day period.

Race 6 - ELDERS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PACE  1780M

Melton Insulted led the one wide line prior to gaining a one out one back trail.

Hanover Lecter worked forward to lead the one wide line near the 1400 metres. Gained a one out one back trail near the 1250 metres. Held up behind a tiring runner on the final turn losing considerable ground – finished well once clear.

Maffioso Girl raced three wide with a trail to the 1400 metres then worked forward three wide to take over the position outside the leader near the 1250 metres. 

Mister Hart over raced throughout the early and middle stages of the race then commenced a three wide run from the rear of the field near the 700 metres.

Race 7 - GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE       1780M

Five Star Gem lead and withstood a short early challenge for the lead. Gave ground from the 400 metres.  

Four For Four held up behind a tiring on the final turn losing significant ground – finished well once clear.

October Racketeer led the one wide prior to gaining one out one back trail after 350 metres.

Shereacts issued a short strong early challenge for the lead then repelled a strong challenge for the position leading the one wide line. Late driver change to Taleah McMullen due to the listed driver failing to arrive on course.

Whostolemypigeon accidently locked sulky wheel with the sulky wheel of another runner near the 200 metres.

Reason To Be issued a strong midrace challenge for the position outside the leader however, was repelled by the runner which was leading the one line and was subsequently restrained to the rear of the field. Trainer reprimanded for failure to have gear accurately recorded.

Better Than Lexy accidently locked sulky wheel with the sulky wheel of another runner near the 200 metres.

Race 8 – LADBROKES BLACKBOOK PACE    2040M

Motu Cullen NZ was unable to hold the lead then shifted out after 250 metres to lead the one wide line. Obtained a one out one back trail near the 1200 metres.

Theresachance worked forward to the lead after 250 metres.

Achromatic broke stride shortly after the start was effected due to a gear failure – no action taken. Held up for a clear run to the finish.

Dattitude dropped in to a one out one back position then commenced a three wide run near the 1350 metres to lead the one wide line from the 1200 metres.
