Supplementary Report – Race 5 Albion Park, Friday June 7, 2024

Stewards today questioned Nathan Hurst, driver of Tulhurst Dancer regarding the reason for leaving the course inside the prescribed time following the running of the event. After consideration of the evidence presented by Nathan Hurst, Mr Hurst was issued with a reprimanded under the provisions of AHR Rule 43A (1) for failing to remain on the course for at least 30 minutes following the event.

Race 1 - DOOLITTLE LODGE MAIDEN PACE   1780M

Light Up Lovey (Leonard Cain) - Led early before surrendering to My Scimitar near the 1500 metre mark.

 Raced roughly on several occasions throughout the race.  Hung in and contacted two marker pegs approaching the 650 metre point.

 A warning on the filly’s behaviour was issued to connections.

Ambers Allstar (Brendan Barnes) – Having not started in a race since 29th June,2023, in accordance with QRIC guidelines, the mare was examined before and after the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

A warning was issued  to connections regarding the mare’s behaviour in the pre-race circle, after she ran up the track, before being corrected by her driver.

Boston Bronski (Shane Graham) – Worked forward three-wide early, before hanging out rounding the first turn, then progressing forward to reach the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metre point, then taking a trail behind Boston Harbour.

My Scimitar (Nathan Dawson) – Worked forward from the start to cross to the lead approaching the 1500 metre mark.

Boston Harbour (Paige Bevan) – Worked forward early in a three-wide trailing position, before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metre point.

Peejay Mack (Matt Elkins) – Approaching the 1000 metre point, while racing three back along the peg line, broke momentarily, free of interference.

 Having considered the filly’s recent racing record, connections were advised that the filly will be stood down for one satisfactory trial.

Sinabun (Angus Garrard) – Raced at the tail of the field, before shifting out three-wide, improving, from near the 600 metre point.

Race 2 – WOLF SIGNS 4YO & OLDER 1 WIN PACE     1780M

Beau Heart (Matt Elkins) – Rounding the home turn on the final occasion, was tightened by Enzed Flyer, and contacted a marker peg.

Enzed Flyer (Phil Keats) – Worked forward early to the position outside the leader, before restraining and obtaining a trail behind Treacherous Gabby near the 1200 metre point.

The earplug cord broke as the driver tried to extricate them. As a result of this, the earplugs failed to release.

Rounding the home turn, when tiring, hung in slightly, tightening Beau Hart, who contacted the marker pegs. Connections of the gelding were advised that a warning will be issued against it regarding this incident.

Ebony Belle (Nathan Dawson) – While racing in a three-wide position around the home turn, hung in slightly, before being corrected by its driver.

Treacherous Gabby – Shifted to a three-wide position from a rearward trailing position, approaching the 1400 metre point, to improve to race outside the leader around the 1200 metre mark.

Race 3 -MAZDA ASPLEY 0 TO 3 WINS PACE  1780M

Wot Dya Reckon (Adam Richardson) – Sulky wheel contacted and the tyre flattened approaching the 1200 metre point.

Financially Stable – (Shane Graham) Hung in contacting a marker peg approaching the home turn. A warning was issued to connections.

Miss Bay King Cole (Mitchell Cox) – Worked forward from the start to a position outside the leader, before restraining to trail the leader approaching the 1200 metre point.

While doing so, allowed Miss Bay King Cole’s front leg to contact the tyre of Wot Day Reckon, flattening it.

Lady Allegra (Nathan Dawson) – Raced wide until gaining the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metre point. Weakened over the concluding stages.

Joe Cavalier (Angus Garrard) – Broke after the start, will be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.

Synchronizer (Grant Dixon) – Commenced a three-wide run from the rear of the field approaching the back straight on the final occasion.

General- Driver Mitchell Cox (Miss Bay King Cole) was fined the sum of $100, under AHR rule 168 (1()a), for allowing it to contact the sulky tyre of Wot day Reckon approaching the 1200 metre mark, flattening the tyre.

Race 4 - ELDERS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PACE  1780

Tulhurst Timmy (Nathan Hurst) – Held up for a clear run before finishing strongly when clear over the concluding stages. 

Rollonx (Angus Garrard) – Unsuccessfully challenged for the lead, before restraining and gaining a trail near the 1200 metre point.

Altana Blue (Danielle Veivers) – At around the 1200 metre mark, shifted from a midfield peg position, to race in the position outside the leader.

Dinosaurus Rex (Pheobe Betts) - Worked hard to withstand a strong challenge for lead, before weakening slightly in the home straight. 

Rollonx (Angus Garrard) – Made an unsuccessful strong challenge for lead before restraining and gaining a trail passing the 1200 metre point.

Altana Blue (Danielle Veivers) -  In accordance with QRIC aged horse guidelines, the gelding was examined before and after the race by the on-course veterinarian with no apparent abnormalities detected. 

Race 5 – POWER UP LAWN MOWERS PACE  2040M

Aurora Reason (Chloe Butler) – Paced roughly shortly after the start. While leading approaching the 1200 metre mark, withstood a strong challenge from Yogi.

Beach Magic (Zac Chappenden) – Sustained a flat tyre approaching the 1100 metre point, when the following horse, Balboa Shannon, contacted its tyre while racing fiercely.

Royal Winkle (Leonard Cain) – Worked forward three wide from the start  to reach the position outside the leader approaching the 1700 metre mark. Gained a trail behind Yogi near the 1200 metre mark.

Yogi  (Zac Chappenden) – Shifted  out to a three-wide position near the 1400 metre point, to race forward and challenge unsuccessfully for the lead approaching the 1200 metre mark.

Red Rock  (Scott Hewitt) – Hung in and contacted a marker peg approaching the 450 metre point. A warning was issued. 

Angelic She Aint (Nathan Dawson) – Was fractious leaving the pre-race circle, will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Balboa Shannon (Jordan Topping) – Pulled hard throughout the race, before hanging out and progressing forward approaching the 1100 metre point. In doing so, contacted the off-side sulky tyre of Beach Magic. No action was taken against driver Jordan Topping, but a warning was issued to the connections of Balboa Shannon, regarding the gelding’s habit of over racing.

Monterey Jack NZ (Nathan Rothwell) - In accordance with QRIC aged horse guidelines, the gelding was examined before and after the race by the on-course veterinarian with no apparent abnormalities detected. 

Race 6 - SULKY.APP - THE FUTURE OF FORM UP TO NR70 PACE            1780M

Playa Blanca (Nathan Rothwell) – Worked forward three wide from the start, to reach the position outside  the leader near the1400 metre point, before securing a trail behind Bo Duke NZ around the 1200 metre mark. Was checked by the movement of inside runners entering the home straight on the final occasion.

Promising (Brendan Barnes) - Worked forward trailing Maggie May three wide from around 1000 metres from the finish, before being slightly inconvenienced by an inside shift entering the home straight on the final occasion.

Arkin Wicked (Grant Dixon) – Severely checked by the movement of inside runners entering the home straight on the final occasion. 

Madam Maggie (Shane Graham) – Worked forward three wide near the 1000 metre mark, then handled the home turn awkwardly, resulting in horses to the outside being inconvenienced. Due to mitigating circumstances, no action was taken. 

Bo Duke NZ – Worked forward three wide from the start to reach the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metre point.

General – Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident that occurred entering the home straight on the final occasion, which resulted in several horses being checked.

 After questioning drivers Nathan Dawson, Shane Graham and Mitch Turnbull, it was ascertained that due to the slight shift to the outside by Feelin Flirty(Nathan Dawson), and Madam Maggie(Shane Graham) over-reacting, causing a flow-on effect.

Stewards considered the evidence put forward, and could not place blame on any particular horse or driver, so no further action was considered necessary.

Race 7 – GARRARDS HERE AT THE TRACK PACE     1780M

Beef City Blaze (Layne Dwyer) – Shifted inside two marker entering the home straight on the final occasion.

Its Back Page News NZ (Brendan Barnes) – Had a tendency to hang in during the race.

My Ultimate Victor (Paige Bevan) – Worked forward at the start to race outside the leader , before gaining a trial behind Datitude near the 1200 metre point.

Dattitude (Nathan Rothwell) – Shifted out from a forward trailing position around the 1400 metre mark, to move to the position outside the leader shortly afterwards.

Romero (Pheobe Betts) – Was held up for a run in the run to the finish.

General - Stewards questioned driver Layne Dwyer (Beef City Blaze), in relation to the gelding’s sulky going inside marker pegs entering the home straight on the final occasion.

After considering Mr Dwyer’s evidence, and his guilty plea, he was charged under AHR rule 163(1)(c), and fined the sum of $100.

Race 8 - LADBROKES EASY FORM PACE       2040M

Nevada Yankee (Leonard Cain) – Raced outside the leader before gaining a trail behind Subtle Chay passing the 1700 metre point. 

Subtle Chay (Ryan Veivers) – Raced three wide early before obtaining the position outside the leader around the 1700 metre mark.

Houston Street (Grant Dixon) – Broke after the start was effected, so will continue to be drawn outside in mobile events.

Hanover Lecter (Nathan Dawson) – Commenced a three wide forward move passing the 700 metre mark. 

Race 9 - DARREN EBERT & CO PACE (SKY 2)            1780M

Marvella (Scott Hewitt) – Led till the 1300metre mark, where it surrendered to Major Lincoln.

Major Lincoln (Nathan Dawson) – Worked forward three wide from the start, attaining the position outside the leader near the 1400 metre point, before working to the front passing the 1300 metre point.

Missed Consequences (Grant Dixon) – Trailed up three wide early before moving to the position outside the leader near the 1300 metre mark.

Our Little Skipper (Angus Garrard) – Galloped free of interference passing the 500 metre point. Connections were advised that the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Studleigh Mark (Danielle Veivers) – Pulled hard throughout the score-up and during the event.

Race 10 - BURWOOD STUD PACE (SKY 2)      1780M

Blissfull Identity (Nathan Dawson) – Pulled hard throughout the race. Was held up by the tiring Wonderwoman Jujon before finishing well along the sprint lane.

Batman Bart (Adam Richardson) – Worked forward three wide to attain the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metre mark.

Wonderwoman Jujon (Grant Dixon) – Spun around leaving the pre-race circle, will continue to be right out of the draw in future mobile events.

Six Times A Lady NZ (Pheobe Betts) – Was held up rounding the home turn by the tiring Wonderwoman Jujon before finishing fairly along the sprint lane.

Race 11 - STEVIE REDBACK PEST CONTROL PACE (SKY 2) 1780M

Subtle Advice (Nathan Dawson) - In accordance with QRIC aged horse guidelines, the gelding was examined before and after the race by the on-course veterinarian with no apparent abnormalities detected. 

Led the field until passing the 850 mark, where it could not withstand the challenge from Fantasy Blaster.

Arkuna (Grant Dixon) – Received no clear run at any stage.

Fantasy Blaster (Danielle Veivers) – Worked forward from the start to the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metre point. Pulled hard before running to the front passing the bell.

Swabs samples taken for analysis.
