General - Stewards opened an inquiry into the driving tactics adopted by Darren McCall, driver of Lovin Miss Dixie, the short-priced favourite in this event.

After taking evidence from Mr McCall, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed, in order to investigate betting activities on the race, and review the racing patterns of Lovin Miss Dixie.

A veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant findings.

Race 4 - VALE THELMA COPELAND PACE     2040M

Tactfilly Miracle - Near the 700m, hung in and contacted a marker peg. A warning was issued to the connections.

Gotta Go Torque – Jibbed coming out of the pre-race circle. Broke as the start was effected, retired from the event.

General - Driver Jack Chapple (So Bobs Your Uncle) was fined $200 for unapproved use of the whip.

Stewards inquired into the reason Gotta Go Torque was retired from the event shortly after the start of the race. Driver Shane Graham explained that the end of the near side half-pole became lodged behind the breastplate strap, rendering the gelding impossible to restrain and steer at the start of the race. The gelding then broke before contacting the outside fence, flattening the off-side sulky tyre.

Mr Graham stated that due to the gear malfunction, and the flat tyre, he felt it was pointless to continue chasing the field.

Mr Graham was asked to take the necessary measures to ensure this doesn’t happen in future.

Due to the mitigating circumstances, no action was taken against Gotta Go Torque.
