Race 1 – STU VALENTINE FOR BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE PACE 1780M
PUNTERS JEWEL - Worked forward to lead the race around the 1500m
ALWAYS LOCKSLEY - Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1400m. Hung out when being restrained, locking wheels with Allmighty Max and breaking gait. Raced three wide for the remainder of the race. Given the horse’s previous record in the regard the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly. Queried driving tactics.
ALLMIGHTY MAX - Raced wide in the early stages before locking wheels with Always Locksley and being restrained to the rear of the field around the 1100m.
CHAMONIX - Raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced when Always Locksley and Allmighty Max locked wheels. Worked forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1100m
NAUTIE GALVINATOR - Commenced a three wide trail with a lap remaining
General
Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics adopted by driver Luke Thirgood (Always Locksley). After working forward from gate 4 and obtaining the position outside the leader, Always Locksley hung out and locked wheels with Allmighty Max (Nathan Rothwell) and broke. Mr Thirgood elected to remain three wide for the remainder of the race. Mr Thirgood explained that Always Locksley is a staying type and was happy to press forward to see if the position outside the leader was available. Stewards after considering the matter and taking into consideration Mr Thirgood’s limited driving experience felt Mr Thirgood had erred by not restraining the horse when a position became available, but could not be satisfied to the requisite standard that the drive was culpable and noted the explanation provided.
Race 2 – LADBROKES QUICK MULTI PACE 2040M
TAYLORS FOUR - Caught wide in the early stages restraining to the rear of the field around the 1700m. Inconvenienced when Snip of Beauty shifted wider in the home straight.
SNIP OF BEAUTY – Driver reprimanded
General
Driver Jonah Hutchinson (Snip of Beauty) was reprimanded for carelessly shifting wider inconveniencing Taylors Four (Taleah McMullen) entering the home straight. AHR Rule 168(1)(a)
Race 3 – GARRARDS & HOUND PACE 1780M
ERASMUS - Hung in and contacted marker peg around the 500m
THE REAL ROCKETMAN NZ - Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1400m
DIPPED IN SILVER - Held up in the latter stages of the home straight.
TRACER BULLET - Broke in the early stages of the score up
Race 4 – DRIVER OF THE NIGHT - ADAM RICHARDSON PACE 1780M
FIFTY EACH WAY - Started short price favourite. Raced in the position outside the leader and gave ground from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer Grant Dixon explained that it was a false favourite and racing in the position outside the leader wasn’t favourable to the filly.
AMILLIONCHANCES - Commenced a three wide move with a lap remaining.
JET FORCE - Having not started in a race since 3rd February 2025 and in accordance with QRIC guidelines the gelding was examined before and after the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 5 – ELDERS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PACE 1780M
FEELING THE POWER - Received farrier work prior to the start of the race. The gelding was passed fit to start by the veterinary surgeon.
CHARMAWAY - Broke free of interference entering the home turn. Given the horse’s previous record in the regard the filly will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
MONTANA ONE - Inconvenienced when Charmaway broke.
Race 6 – MEMBERS DRAW WINNER - MARK BELFORD PACE 1780M
SUNNY COVE - Failed to take part in the pre race circle. Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1500m. Gained cover on Man Of Action NZ around the 1200m.
MAN OF ACTION NZ - Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1200m
Race 7 – COMFORT INN & SUITES NORTHGATE 1 WIN PACE 1780M
LET ME AT IT - Failed to take part in the pre-race circle. Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader. Pressed on to lead the race around the 1200m. Gave ground over the concluding stages.
VICTREE BUSTA – Raced wide in the early stages working forward to race in the position outside the leader around the 1200m
MY ULTIMATE ZANDER - Sustained an offside flat tyre entering the home straight.
ITS A SPONGE DARL – Commenced a three wide move around the 1000m. Hung out and broke around the 800m. In view of the gelding’s previous record the gelding was stood down pending a satisfactory steward’s trial.
Race 8 – BURWOOD STUD MAIDEN PACE 1780M
WRITTENINTHESTARZZ - Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. The gelding will be continue to excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner. Fail to take part in the race and was retired. In view of performance of the gelding it was stood down pending a satisfactory steward’s trial.
