RACE 1 – FRANK BORG SHORT TERM FINANCE SOLUTIONS PACE– 1609MS

Prior to the all-clear, trainer N. Tardio requested to view the photo finish. After reviewing the photo finish, which confirmed the Judge’s decision, Mr Tardio gave all clear on the Judge’s numbers 1,4,8,2.

TEDDY SANDEL – Shifted up the track near the 200 metres, when leading the event, a warning was issued.

KUHIO CREST – Raced roughly as the field raced into the first turn, a warning was issued.

AMIRA MARIE - Had difficulty finding a clear run over the final 400 metres of the event and was never fully tested in the final straight. Stewards questioned driver K. Weidenbach regarding the tactics he adopted, in particular his decision not to move wider on the track near the 500 metres, where it appeared there was an opportunity to do so, and move away from the marker pegs. Mr Weidenbach explained he believed W. Hill (NYKEA COURAGE) who was racing on the marker pegs in advance of him was commencing to move away from the marker pegs and once the run was available, he would be able to move onto the back of the leader, ready to take advantage of the sprint lane, when it became available, however, W. Hill elected to move back and remain on the marker pegs and  the opportunity to ease HY FILANTE (R. Hryhorec) on his outside wider, had passed, due to another runner moving three wide, KUHIO CREST (L. Ryan), and covering HY FILANTE (R. Hryhorec) and in turn himself. Stewards noted his explanation but suggested it would have been more advantageous to attempt to put his runner into clear running rather than rely of runs appearing.

NYKEA COURAGE - Had difficulty finding a clear run between the 400 metres and 200 metres, however, when clear was fully tested in the final straight.
