Stewards Report

Port Pirie – Saturday 6th July 2024

The sprint lane was in operation at tonights event.

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – LADBROKES PACE  – 1609MS

FLETCHAS ROY (S Newman) which galloped in the score up and thereafter took no competitive part in the race will be excluded from the draw in future mobile barrier start races.

JAMAICAN ROCK (D Afford) broke gait early stages of the score up however was in position at the start.

WEEROONA BOY (L Ryan) paced roughly leaving the back straight first occasion.

Reinsperson Gina Bell (STEREOPHONIC) was advised to ensure her use of the whip complies with the rules.

RACE 2 –  CT ELECTRICAL & DATA PACE – 1609MS

RACE 3 – BIG CHIEF HIRE TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609MS

Stewards held the all clear to ascertain whether 3rd placegetter HURRICANE ED (J Kittel) had maintained its ground whilst galloping in the front straight to the finish of the race. After viewing the video Stewards disqualified HURRICANE ED under R155 (1) as they were of the opinion it had maintained its position  Trainer Melanie Kittel was advised the gelding will be placed on its last chance to race truly.

A warning was placed on SUPER ANGUS (S Pascoe) which galloped approaching the finish of the race. SUPER ANGUS cast its near fore shoe in running.

RACE 4 – PIRIE SIGNS & DESIGNS  PACE – 2050MS

A centre hopple carrying strap on PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (K Weidenbach) became detached in running despite the buckle being taped.

Reinsperson Jason Kittel (UNCLE CHAN) was fined $100 under R156 (2)(a  for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.

RACE 5 SPILLMAN AIR TROTTERS HANDICAP – 2050SS

A false start was called when the 20 metre tape failed to release.

MAJESTIC COURTNEY (M Smith) galloped shortly after the start and will continue to be excluded from the draw.

When questioned as to his reason for going forward after losing ground Michael Smith stated that he felt the leader IM HECTOR (J Kittel) may have taken a trail.

RACE 6 – MAX SERVICES PACE – 2050MS

FUMIA REACTOR (S Newman) was out of position at the start despite the efforts of the driver and a warning was issued.

LINCS POOR BOY (L Ryan)  cast a near fore shoe in running.

RACE 7 – OSBORNE FODDER  PACE – 1609MS
