RACE 1 – TAB.COM.AU PACE – 1660 metres

FRONTIER – Hung out in the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position when the start was effected. The gelding will be excluded from the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Driver B Hutchings pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) in that entering the home straight on the final occasion he has allowed his runner to shift out for some distance causing PEAKSART who was racing to his outside to be crowded for racing room and as a result has been checked and broke. In assessing penalty stewards took into account Mr Hutchings guilty plea at his first available opportunity and his record in relation to this rule. Mr Hutchings licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight on the 15th July 2022.

BUSTER REASON– Pre race blood sample was taken. Post race swab sample was taken.

PEAKSART– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1400 metres. Hung in and raced roughly momentarily passing the 550 metres. Checked and broke in the home straight on the final occasion when FRONTIER shifted out.

He further stated that tonight’s event was run to suit RAINBOW TITAN. Stewards noted his comments. Post race swab sample was taken.

TURBO TOMMY – Stewards questioned driver J Davis on his driving tactics adopted from the 600 metres, as to whether or not there was an opportunity to shift his runner wider on the track to obtain clear running at that point. Mr Davis stated that at that point of the event the gelding was travelling ok however he elected to shift down the track to the marker pegs behind IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ as he felt that that runner had good form leading into the event as well as the marker pegs being the shortest way home. Upon entry to the home straight when looking to obtain clear running CHAP DADDY had moved down the track not allowing Mr Davis to shift his runner wider at that point resulting in him shifting to the inside of IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ to obtain clear running. Stewards noted his comments.
