RACE 1 – SOUNDPROOFED @ CLUB PACEWAY 20TH APRIL PACE – 1720 metres

DILETTO– Post-race swab.

THE POOBAH– Trainer/driver Ashleigh Delosa was questioned in regards to her tactics adopted in the event, of concern was her decision to hold the position outside the leader when challenged by ROCKSIE ROCK.  Ms Delosa felt that when challenged by ROCKSIE ROCK in her opinion she didn’t need to pressure her gelding to hold the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres and elected to hold that position.  THE POOAH commenced to give ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 14 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ROCKSIE ROCK– Driver Hannah Rixon pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 149(2) for an unacceptable drive, in that after being caught wide early and working forward realising the position outside the leader was not available passing the 1200 metres in a relatively quick first quarter of 28.2, Ms Rixon has then elected to continue to race in a three wide position until the gelding commenced to tire passing the 500 metres to be beaten 39.7 metres.  Driver Hannah Rixon had her licence suspended to drive in races for a period of 4 weeks to commence midnight 18 April 2024.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Ms Rixon’s plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of the incident.

LOORRIM CREEK– Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1150 metres contacted the sulky wheel of SILENT REACTION before working forward finding a position outside the leader at the 1000 metres.  Raced roughly rounding the final turn when OURTREACHEROUS REIGN NZ was shifting out.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its left fore requiring stitches.  Acting on veterinary advice LOORRIM CREEK was stood down pending a clear veterinary certificate and for a period of 28 days.  Connections advised LOORRIM CREEK would be retired.

BELL RIVERKID– Withstood a protest from the third placed runner CAPITALLEE.  Driver Cameron Hart was issued a reprimand under rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving when passing the 400 metres driving in a position trailing CAPITALLEE he has shifted wider and has contacted the sulky wheel of that gelding causing it to be flattened.  In taking no further action Stewards were mindful of CAPITALLEE moving slightly wider at the same time Mr Hart was commencing to make his move.
