RACE 5 – TINTIN IN AMERICA @ WINGATE FARM PACE – 1609 metres

BEACHBABE CROCKER– Hung out after the start.  BEACHBABE CROCKER will be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.  When questioned driver B McDonough explained that after proving difficult to drive after the start BEACHBABE CROCKER lost ground and found itself further back than anticipated settling four back along the marker pegs.  He added that the filly never settled and post-race was exhibiting signs that she may be in season.  He added that it was the intention of connections to continue with the filly’s  preparation with a view to a feature race in the not-too-distant future.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

BEARHUNTA– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Improved three wide leaving the 1200 metres and when racing to the outside of MISTER QUIRK hung in and struck the off fore leg of that runner.  When questioned driver W Rixon explained that it was the intention of connections to drive the gelding with cover however after attempting to drive per the instructions BEARHUNTA failed to settle, over raced and wanted to race roughly.  Therefore W Rixon said he shifted BEARHUNTA out in order to improve and near the 1000 metres the gelding laid in unexpectedly making slight contact with MISTER QUIRK before improving to the lead.  W Rixon explained that BEARHUNTA was disappointing however he was only having his second start for connections and the circumstances of today’s event were not favourable. In his opinion BEARHUNTA would be open to further improvement.  Connections were advised that BEARHUNTA would be placed on its last chance to race truly due to its erratic racing manners.

TIGER PRINCE– Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
