No racing incident to report.
RACE 6 – KING OF SWING PACE (2185MS)
General: Drivers V Stampalia (CHACO EAGLE) and M Miller (RONALD SCOTT) were interviewed into the reasons for RONALD SCOTT racing roughly shortly after the start. Upon conclusion, Mr Stampalia pleaded guilty to a charge under R163(1)(a)(i) for causing crossing in that he has shifted down the track when insufficiently clear of RONALD SCOTT, tightening that runner’s room which has raced roughly as a consequence. Mr Stampalia’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 28th October and conclude midnight Wednesday 6th November 2024. In determining penalty Stewards considered the level of interference to be on the lower end with one horse racing roughly, Mr Stampalia’s guilty plea and his very good record under this rule.
RACE 7 – CAPTAIN AHAB PACE (2185MS)
GET THE BOOTH (K Symington) – Galloped out when the start was effected. Trainer R Bell was advised the mare will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.

CALIENTE (C Lewis) – Driver C Lewis was fined $200 under the provisions of R156(2)(a) for applying the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion.
NORTHVIEW DANCE NZ (C Voak) – Driver C Voak was fined $400 under the provisions of R156(2)(a) for applying the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion. In determining penalty, Stewards considered Mr Voak’s recent record under this rule.

MACHLANI (A Suvaljko) – Delayed the start of this event.
RACE 9 – WESTCOAST POWER EQUIPMENT PACE (1684MS)
OUR VINNIE (G Hall Jnr) – When questioned, Driver G Hall Jnr stated the gelding was over-racing though the event and contacting his own sulky. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Brennan undertook to notify to Stewards of any health issues that may arise over the forthcoming days.
VELOCIPEDE (S McDonald) – Driver S McDonald was questioned with relation to the tactics adopted in this event, in particular the reason for a sustained period in the three wide line before restraining to the rear racing towards the end of the home straight to receive the bell. Mr McDonald put forward his intentions were to find a forward position however shortly before release at the start a shortener pin became detached placing him at a disadvantage. Mr McDonald further stated he thought OUR VINNIE (G Hall Jnr) may have had an opportunity to shift behind the leader after the start and then he could lead the one wide line however when this scenario did not eventuate and with OUR VINNIE over-racing, he was unable to muster the speed required. Stewards noted the comments.

DEVILS COURAGE (B Giudice) – Inconvenienced shortly after the start was effected by ALL ABOUT AMERICA (J Rigoli) which hung inwards.
