Pinjarra 17/11/2025
Stewards: M Thomas (MT), A Milne (SR), P Webster (200T), L Peskett (Cadet) (400T)
Veterinary Surgeon: Dr M McGregor
Starters: K Bailey (Starter/Gear), G Van De Molen (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
Due to driver Bruce Stanley being indisposed, the following driver change was approved:
Race 1 – ALDEBARAN JENSEN – J Callaghan
RACE 1 – MANDURAH FLOORING CENTRE TROT (2185MS)
ULTIMATE TESS (E Suvaljko) – Galloped at the start. Broke gait in the back straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued against the mare’s racing manners. Trainer Mr M Young sought and was granted permission for the mare to placed outside the draw for future mobile events.
MAJESTIC MARION (K Harper) – Retired from the event entering the front straight to receive the bell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have cardiac arrhythmia. The mare is now stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until the provision of an ECG clearance and the completion of one satisfactory requalifying trial.
MAJESTIC LINE (R Warwick) – Galloped at the start. Trainer T Ferguson was advised that the mare will now be placed right outside the draw in future mobile events.
IM GAVOCHE (N Turvey) – Not in position at the candy pole and was out of position at the start. Trainer D Chandler was advised that the gelding will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.
ARISTOTLE (G Hall Jnr) – Shifted out under pressure in the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – REGENCY FOODS 3YO WESTBRED PACE (1684MS)
LOU LAMOUR (C Lewis) - Obliged to race in a 4 wide position in the back straight on the final occasion.
AMERICAN MAJOR (L Elliott) – Pulled hard in the score up. Over-raced throughout and gave ground from the 400m to be beaten more than 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was slow to recover. Now stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until the completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial. Trainer Mr R Bell will monitor the recovery of the gelding and report any further abnormalities to Stewards.
General: Driver T Wheeler (BUT JOE) was interviewed regarding the reason for LOU LAMOUR (C Lewis) being obliged to race in a 4 wide position in the back straight on the final occasion. Mr Wheeler put forward that AMERICAN MAJOR (L Elliott) was giving ground when attempting to move into the one wide line forcing ULTIMATE EVENT (L Harper) to the 3 wide line which in turn moved LOU LAMOUR to a 4 wide position which resulted in ULTIMATE EVENT (L Harper) making contact to the near hind leg of LOU LAMOUR. After considering the statements of Mr Wheeler and viewing all available vision, Mr Wheeler was reminded of his obligations to take more care when easing other runners wider in future.
RACE 3 – GUMNUT CATERING 3YO WESTBRED PACE (1684MS)
FLOAT MY BOAT (M Miller) - When questioned, Driver M Miller reported that the colt over-raced throughout which adversely affected its performance and added that gear changes will now be considered to improve the colt’s racing manner for future starts.
RACE 4 – MANDURAH BOLT SUPPLIES PACE (2185MS)
General: Driver D Roberts (MEDIEVAL MAN) was cautioned for not taking sufficient measures to prevent her drive from shifting outwards towards DOURADO (A De Campo) in the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 5 – MURRAY VET SERVICES LIGHTNING LAP PACE (1177MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 6 – NZB STANDARDBRED 3YO FILLIES PACE (2185MS)
KIA ORA LOU NZ (S McDonald) – Out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile events.
PRINCESS AVIATOR (A Vidovich) – Broke gait leaving the front straight on the first occasion. Now stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial.
RACE 7 – PINJARRA CUP 2026 RAFFLE TICKETS NOW SELLING LIGHTNING LAP PACE (1177MS)
All clear was delayed at the request of the driver of the second placed JAMIE KIM, Ms E Suvaljko for her to review the vison of an incident in the front straight on the final occasion. Ms Suvaljko subsequently lodged a protest against the first placed MANGO TANGO (S Steele) alleging that Driver S Steele shifted into the sprint lane on the final occasion thereby denying her that opportunity. After taking evidence from both Drivers and reviewing the official footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the protest on the basis that Mr Steele had not allowed his drive to enter the sprint lane and cause interference to the extent to warrant any amendment to the placings.
DENNINGTON HEIGHTS (K Harper) - Trainer Mr B Lynn was interviewed regarding the gelding’s performance being below market expectations and he advised that his driving instructions were to be in a forward position and lead if possible, however the gelding was unable to cross and therefore was caught in a 3 wide position which was detrimental to its finishing effort.
RACE 8 – NK & J GRANT SMASH REPAIRS PACE (1684MS)
TRITTRITTBANGBANG (A Suvaljko) – Tightened and raced roughly entering the front straight on the final occasion.
CINDYS SECRET (B Edman) – Hung inwards on the home turn on the final occasion.
VYBRANT (K Madden) – Inconvenienced entering the front straight on the final occasion.
SPINNER OF YARNS (G Hall Jnr) - Driver G Hall Jnr was interviewed in relation to the early stages of the race where a first quarter of 27.5 and a lead time of 5.5 seconds were recorded. Mr Hall Jnr put forward that his instructions were to obtain a forward position, and he was surprised when he attained the lead and therefore allowed it to stride along as it has performed well in the past when driven in this manner.
STIRUP IRON JACK (S Suvaljko) - When questioned in relation to his driving in the early stages, Driver S Suvaljko stated that the gelding began very well and as he had previously driven SPINNER OF YARNS he was confident of being able to cross it and after racing slightly in advance of that gelding, STIRUP IRON JACK then contacted its own sulky wheel and over-raced and he was then unable to have it relax in running.
RACE 9 – PERTH CITY TYRES PACE (2185MS)
A false start was declared on the first occasion when DIAMOND BAY (A Hiltunen) broke in the score up. Trainer B Howlett was advised that the mare will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile events.
DIAMOND BAY (A Hiltunen) – Broke gait in the score up and again broke gait entering the front straight on the final occasion. Trainer Mr B Howlett was advised that the mare would be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until completion of 1 satisfactory re qualifying trial and will also be placed outside the draw for future mobile events. Stewards also interviewed Mr B Howlett regarding the racing manners of DIAMOND BAY and a senior driver embargo was placed against it for future starts.
