RACE 3 - NORM BRANDIS 3YO MAIDEN PACE (2185MS)

PERFECT MOVE (D Miller) – Received a flat tyre when racing in the back straight on the final occasion.
NUCLEAR CRUISER (D Egerton-Green) – Gave ground from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Was stood down for 6 days and 1 satisfactory trial.
RAJAH ROCKS (A De Campo) – Contacted the sulky wheel of another runner when racing into the back straight on the final occasion when shifting from a position closest to the marker posts to a position in the one wide line. Driver was fined $100 under HR 168(1)(a) for careless driving.
RACE 4 – JAMES MUNDAY MEMORIAL PACE (2185MS)
WHEEL FAST (A De Campo) Held up over the concluding stages.
RACE 5 – TOM TWADDLE MEMORIAL PACE (1684MS)
THE MASKED CRUSADER NZ (D Roberts) – Stewards queried the driving tactics of Driver D Roberts after electing to leave a position in the one out one back to challenge (CHILLI PUNTER) K Symington when racing into the front straight to receive the bell. Driver D Roberts put forward that as the pace had reduced, she elected to find a forward position however at this time Driver K Symington had unsuccessfully challenged ROCK THE BANK (S Simms) increasing the tempo which resulted in THE MASKED CRUSADER NZ relinquishing the challenge and remaining in the three wide line.
MORISSETTE (M Miller) – Checked and broke gait when the pace had reduced marginally when shifting inwards from a three-wide line to the moving line. Driver M Miller reported that he had shifted inwards successfully however when the pace reduced DELIGHTABLE NZ had raced into a position between MORISSETTE and KEAYANG YUKON (S Suvaljko) forcing him to check his drive outwards to avoid contacting that runner’s legs. This caused his drive to become unbalanced and break gait. Under the circumstances, Stewards found that no driver had driven in a careless manner and no further action was taken.
KEAYANG YUKON (S Suvaljko) Was checked when racing in restricted room and broke gait as the field raced out of the back straight on the final occasion. On inquiry it was established that KEAYANG YUKON shifted outwards when BONNIE PAULINE (S Young) had shifted from the moving line however, the mare did not establish a full position in the three wide line, remaining in a two-and-a-half position. Driver S Suvaljko had to then check his runner back inwards at the same time that HEEZ TRUE BLUE (K Harper) had begun to tire resulting in the gelding breaking gait. Under the circumstances, Stewards took no action.
RACE 6 – JIM RAE MEMORIAL PACE (2185MS)
JINGLING JEWELS (B Edman) – Stewards queried the driving tactics of B Edman after challenging for the lead through the early and middle stages prior to restraining her drive for a position. The gelding subsequently tired to be beaten 126m. The driver reported that her instructions were to find a forward position however when this did not eventuate, remained in the three-wide line before eventually restraining to find cover. The driver further put forward that in hindsight she should have restrained at an early stage. Stewards accepted Driver Edman’s explanation and advised that she had erred in her tactics by remaining in the three-wide line and challenging for that duration.
RACE 7 – CHARLES HULL CONTRACTING PINJARRA
ADVANTAGE (D Roberts) – Broke gait over the concluding stages. Was stood down for 6 days and 1 satisfactory trial.
RACE 8 – RAY GILBERT MEMORIAL PACE (2631MS)
MINOR CATASTROPHE (K Symington) – Gave ground from the 800m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to have returned with Cardiac Arrythmia. Acting under HR 101 the mare was stood down for 14 days, an ECG veterinary clearance and a satisfactory trial.
ROAD CLOSURE (T Sheehy) – Inconvenienced by a tiring runner when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
SKIPPYS DELIGHT NZ (C Suvaljko) – Raced roughly after the start.
TORPEDO ROCK (S Suvaljko) – Raced roughly after the start. The gelding’s sulky was contacted and broke gait as a result. Under the circumstances, no action was taken.
MASTER LEIGHTON (C Lewis) – Locked wheels with another runner when racing out of the back straight on the final occasion.
VENTURA NZ (G Hall Jnr) – Raced roughly after the start. On inquiry, the driver was shown a section of the vision as the field raced out of the back straight on the second occasion when crossing to the lead. The Stewards determined that whilst the pace had reduced marginally when Driver G Hall Jnr had crossed to the lead when taking into account the racing manners of BLOCKJORG and the already compacted field, Stewards found that the driver had not driven carelessly. The driver was reminded of his obligation to ensure that the pace is not reduced abruptly when crossing to the lead in future race starts.
BLOCKJORG (K Harper) – Pulled hard through the early stages and locked wheels with another runner. Contacted the sulky wheel of TORPEDO ROCK and broke gait when racing out of the back straight on the second occasion.
RACE 9 – BOB O’CALLAGHAN MEMORIAL PACE (1684MS)
No Racing incidents to report
