OBJECTION – MONDELLO BEACH

On Wednesday 10 July 2024 Harness Racing NSW Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr Martin Goadsby, the managing owner of STILL ROLLIN NZ against the eligibility of MONDELLO BEACH.

Mr Goadsby, Mr Peter Hedges and Mr George Mondolo, the trainer and owner of MONDELO BEACH respectively were invited to attend the objection hearing but declined.  Written submission were provided to the hearing by Mr Goadsby and Mr Hedges.

Having considered the submissions, Stewards determined that MONDELLO BEACH last raced at Newcastle on 10 May 2024, 48 (clear days) prior to winning Race 6 at Newcastle on Friday 28 June 2024.

HRNSW Stewards further determined that MONDELLO BEACH had not satisfactorily completed an official trial prior to nomination, and acting in accordance with AHRR 65 Stewards disqualified MONDELLO BEACH from its 1st placing in Race 8 at Newcastle on the aforementioned date and the placings were amended accordingly.

AHRR 65 reads:

AHRR         65 If the Stewards find that a horse or a trainer or driver was ineligible to compete in a race they may disqualify the horse from the race or declare such horse a non-starter and make any consequent changes to the placings.
