CHEVRONS BYPASS NZ– Post-race sample was taken.

STELLAS DELIGHT NZ– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.  Driver M Callaghan was found guilty of a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when racing down the home straight on the first occasion shifted down the track when in the opinion of the Stewards was not clear of SIR SIMON (J Bigeni) and as a result was placed in restricted racing room and contacted marker pegs, losing the position in which stewards believed it was entitled.  Driver M Callaghan’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account his driving record in relation to the Rule and the change in tempo during the event.

MADAME PELE– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

ZOEMAGIC– Galloped away as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.

ITSALLABOUTJACK– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

BLACK EDITION NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.  Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

SIR SIMON– Tightened for racing room racing down the home straight on the first occasion and ultimately lost the position to which Stewards felt it was entitled.

RACE 4 – BARASTOC PACE – 1609 metres

DHAULAGIRI NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.

AALESUND – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Stewards questioned driver A Bond in relation to the tactics adopted.  A Bond advised that instructions were to be forward in the event.  She further added that after moving up three wide racing down the home straight on the first occasion was unable to muster the necessary speed to obtain the position outside of the leader and was left wide for the remainder.  Stewards noted her comments.

ORCHID STRIDE– Post-race sample was taken.  Connections were given approval for the mare to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

SMOOTH ROLLING– Pre-race sample was taken.  Driver J Hughes was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after entering the home straight looked to shift wider on the track and in doing so checked the running of CASUAL RIVER which raced roughly for a short distance.  Post-race sample was taken.

DRAGON TATTOO NZ– Momentarily locked wheels with HOIHO NZ rounding the final turn.

MACS TOMADO NZ– Galloped away as the start was affected.  As warning was issued.

CASUAL RIVER– Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.  Checked and raced roughly upon entering the home straight for the run to the finish.

HOIHO NZ– Momentarily locked wheels with DRAGON TATTOO NZ rounding the final turn.

RACE 8 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

LADY PEBBLES– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.  Stewards inquired into the reasons for LADY PEBBLES breaking stride inside the 100 metres. Prior to the field entering the home straight for the run to the finish driver T Ison attempted to shift wider on the track with VALOUR DICTUM racing to its outside to which it was successful when trailing MAGIC SHOOS as the field raced down the home straight VALOUR DICTUM was able to gain momentum and race on terms to which both these runners jostled for some distance prior to LADY PEBBLES breaking stride.  As Stewards could lay no blame against horse or driver in the circumstances both T Ison and J Bond were advised to take greater care in similar circumstances.

CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD– Post-race sample was taken.

CORPORAL JUJON– Pre-race sample was taken.  Fractious in the early stages of the score up and out of position as the start was affected.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 9 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

NORTH CANAM– Slow away as the start was affected.  Checked and broke stride prior to entering the home straight for the run to the finish.

JUST FEELNGOOD– Pre-race sample was taken.  Stewards queried driver R Morris in relation to the tactics adopted.  R Morris explained that when driving at a previous start felt that the gelding was reluctant to pass horses and looked to maintain the position in the lead as it was drawn favourably.  He further added that he had to make some use of his drive to obtain the lead and when pressure came from JAYTEES HAT looked to maintain but felt this may have been telling over the concluding stages.  Stewards noted his comments.

SUMBEACH ART– Driver G Panella was advised to take greater care in similar circumstances, in that when rounding the final turn her runner had a tendency to hang in and prior to entering the home straight shifted out and contacted the near side wheel of JAYTEES HAT resulting in it breaking stride to which NORTH CANAM which was trailing was also checked and broke stride.

JAYTEES HAT– Stewards queried driver S Rushbrook in relation to the tactics adopted.  Driver S Rushbrook explained that the instructions were to drive forward and maintain tempo in the event.  After beginning fairly was caught wide in the early stages of the event before working to the position outside of the leader to which she attempted for that position and was unsuccessful.  S Rushbrook further advised that given the run afforded was not overly disappointed in the performance.

SULTAN FELLA– Post-race sample was taken.
