RACE 1 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1609 metres

MAJOR MICKEY– Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

BE GOOD BENNY– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

LIGHTNING BOB– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

 

RACE 2 – AVE TECHNOLOGIES PACE – 1609 metres

POPSTAROMAR– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

PARADISE POINT– Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER– Hampered racing down the home straight on the first occasion when the tempo in the event eased.  Held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.

LUCKY BEACH BOY– Hampered racing down the home straight on the first occasion when the tempo in the event eased.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 3 – SKYFALL ESTATE PACE – 1609 metres

GANDALF NZ– Momentarily locked wheels with WAYOUTWEST as the field negotiated the final turn. 

SEASTORIE NZ– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Driver L Rando could not offer any suitable explanation for the performance.  Connections also advised Stewards that it would be the intention now for the mare to be spelled.

WAYOUTWEST– Momentarily locked wheels with GANDALF NZ rounding the final turn.  Post-race sample was taken.

MURPHYS REWARD NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.  When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver S Grima explained that although having to do some work in the early stages of the event to find the position outside of the leader was not overly disappointed in the performance given the sectionals recorded and the circumstances presented during the run.

 

RACE 4 – WOODLANDS STUD PACE – 1609 metres

BUDDY PERFECT– Pre-race sample was taken. 

ULTIMATE RHAPSODY– Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up and was out of position as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Had a tendency to over race and race roughly throughout various stages of the event.  A further warning was issued.  When questioned regarding the performance driver L Rando was not overly disappointed in the run and added that it had a tendency to race roughly at various stages of the event and only being his first drive of this horse would expect improvement moving forward. 

FORCE FULL– Post-race sample was taken.

HALSEY NICOLE– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  Driver J Taaffe explained that although it had to do some work in the early stages of the event travelled well until it was asked for an effort racing down the back straight on the final occasion to which it failed to respond and was disappointing over the concluding stages.  Stewards noted his comments and issued a warning against the performance.

QUEEN TREACHERIE NZ– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 5 – EMPIRE STALLIONS PACE – 1609 metres

DUGGEE SLOY– Declared a late scratching at 6.46pm acting on veterinary advice due to being lame in the near side fore.  Connections also advised Stewards it would be the intention for it now to be spelled.

VAN BASTEN– Post-race sample was taken.

PITCH PERFECT NZ– Pre-race sample was taken.

FAR OUT BRO– Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – MEDOWIE LODGE PACE – 2030 metres

GLENFRANKIE– Had a tendency to hang out during the score up.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

SUMMER ROCKSTAR– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

MUCKINBAR DIVA– Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

BRING YOUR BEST– Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  Driver C Griffiths explained to Stewards that after finding the position outside of the leader raced comfortably and when asked for an effort over the concluding stages failed to respond and was disappointing over the concluding stages.  Stewards advised connections that it would now be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

SILVER LADY NZ– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

 

RACE 7 – TOOHEYS PACE – 2030 metres

DON KEE– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

HAPPY AS– Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

LONGWINDINGROAD– Checked as the field raced down the back straight on the final occasion.  When questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance driver G Panella advised that after finding the position outside of the leader was presented from a challenge by GROSESTAR which was racing three wide and looked to move forward in an attempt for the lead position however was unsuccessful.  G Panella then added that shortly thereafter commenced to restrain her drive to which GROSESTAR obtained the lead approaching the 1200 metres.  She further added that was unable to move wider racing down the back straight on the final occasion when being taken back by GROSESTAR which had commenced to weaken due to SWEET CREATION moving quickly to her outside and as a result was obliged to be checked.  Stewards noted her comments.

GROSESTAR– When questioned regarding the overall performance driver J Callaghan explained that after being caught wide in the early stages of the event looked to move forward to obtain the position outside of the leader however was left racing wide for longer than anticipated due to LONGWINDINGROAD looking for the position in the lead which was unsuccessful.  He further added that when moving forward to obtain the position outside of the leader had a tendency to hang in to which he was obliged to race wider for longer than expected.  J Callaghan further added that racing down the back straight on the final occasion while still having a tendency to hang in was momentarily checked which may have contributed to the somewhat disappointing performance.  Stewards noted his comments.

KARALTA COURAGE– Pre-race sample was taken.  Shifted away from the marker pegs racing down the back straight on the final occasion and momentarily locked wheels with GROSESTAR which also had a tendency to hang in.

SWEET CREATION– Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 8 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 2030 metres

ALTIANO– Galloped away as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.

ROCKNROLL WILLY– Hampered shortly after the start was affected and obliged to shift up the track.  Driver Z Carroll was fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying the whip over the concluding stages employed an action which engaged the shoulder.

LIVE WISE– Broke stride in the early stages of the score up.  Broke stride shortly after the start was affected when placed in somewhat restricted room after ALTIANO broke stride which forced ROCKNROLL WILLY up the track slightly.  In addition FOR THREE REASONS which was racing to its outside also closed down the track slightly.  Evidence from driver M Formosa revealed that when looking to ease out of the challenge his runner veered up the track and as a result severely checked the running of SIYA NZ where as a result dislodged both drivers M Formosa and B Hughes.  Connections were advised that LIVE WISE would be excluded from the mobile barrier draw in addition one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial lacerations to its near side hind leg.  Connections were also advised that it would be stood down until a veterinary certificate of fitness is furnished.  Driver M Formosa was examined on course paramedics and cleared of any serious injury.

SIYA NZ– Severely checked after the start which dislodged driver B Hughes.  SIYA NZ then ran for a considerable distance throughout the event without a driver.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed it to have superficial lacerations to its near side fore leg and to be somewhat lame.  Connections were advised that it would be stood down until a veterinary certificate of fitness is furnished.  Driver B Hughes was examined on course paramedics and cleared of any serious injury.
