RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1609 metres

CASHWRANGS SMOKER– Shifted out under pressure over the final stages.

SILVER LADY NZ– Obtained an inside run near the 150 metres as a result of CASHWRANGS SMOKER shifting up the track.

SMOOTH ROLLING– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. 

HEADLINE HUNTER– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1050 metres.  Raced roughly rounding the final turn.

SAINT CRUSADER– Pre-race blood test.  Caught wide in the early stages before being restrained to last passing the 1200 metres. 

ONE FOR THE RODI– Pre-race blood test.  Post-race swab.

 

RACE 2 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

ZOES RAINBOW– Pre-race blood test.  Over raced throughout the event.  Post-race swab.

MADAME PELE– Pre-race blood test.

ROCKNROLL TONY– Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

MELS ACE– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres. 

CUSTOME NIKE– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. 

ROSARITO ROCK– Broke in the score up, was out of position at the start and took no competitive part in the event.  In view of the mare’s recent record ROSARITO ROCK will be continued out of the draw in mobile starts.

LADY LAGERTHA NZ– Contacted marker pegs rounding the final turn.  Driver Bevan Pringle was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. 

 

RACE 3 – COCA COLA PACE – 1609 metres

WHAT NOW SHANNON– Pre-race blood test.  Hung in rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs.

LUKE JOHN NZ– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to last passing the 1350 metres.  Became unbalanced and broke gait passing the 300 metres.  In view of the horse’s recent record a warning was issued.

BLACK EDITION NZ– Over the concluding stages of the event improved into a developing run between AALESUND and MAMMALS RIDDLE.  As BLACK EDITION NZ progressed forward AALESUND moved in slightly as MAMMALS RIDDLE hung out slightly and as a result BLACK EDITION NZ was placed into restricted room and was held up in the later stages of the home straight. 

BETTERTHANFEDERER– Pre-race blood test. 

AALESUND– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find a position in the running line passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab.

MAMMALS RIDDLE– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside of the leader passing the 1400 metres.

YESNOMAYBESO– Pre-race blood test. 

 

RACE 4 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

ROYAL ADMIRAL– Hung in and contacted marker pegs rounding the final turn.  In view of the gelding’s recent record ROYAL ADMIRAL will be required to perform one requalifying trial.  Commenced to tire passing the 350 metres to be beaten 46.7 metres. 

ITSALLABOUTJACK– Pre-race blood test.  Stewards delayed the all clear to review the vision over the concluding stages to determine if ITSALLABOUTJACK had been hampered when progressing to the inside of ROCKNROLL MAMA NZ. After reviewing the vision Stewards determined that although being placed in restricted room, this incident had no effect as to the outcome of the event and the all clear was subsequently announced on the judge’s numbers 5-2-7-9. Over raced throughout the event.  Over the concluding stages of the event commenced to improve to the inside of ROCKNROLL MAMA NZ and was placed into restricted room momentarily when that mare had shifted down the track. 

CAPTAIN DAN NZ– Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start.  In view of the gelding’s recent record CAPTAIN DAN NZ will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

SUSIE REIGNMAKER NZ– Driver Blake Hughes requested that the mare be examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event.  Acting on veterinary advice SUSIE REIGNMAKER NZ was declared a late scratching at 6.39pm. The mare was reported to be mildly lame in the off side front and acting on veterinary advice SUSIE REIGNMAKER NZ will now be stood down for 10 days and until a veterinary clearance can be provided.

ROCKNROLL MAMA NZ– Shifted in under pressure resulting in ITSALLABOUTJACK being placed in restricted room momentarily.  Post-race swab.

RUBY BABY NZ– Pre-race blood test. 

GOODTIME HERO– Broke after the start.  In view of the gelding’s recent record a warning was issued.

 

RACE 5 – TRIVIA @ THE TROTS 19TH AUGUST PACE – 1609 metres

MAN FROM BRAAVOS– Stewards delayed all clear to determine if MAN FROM BRAAVOS had gained an advantage whilst racing inside a marker peg rounding the final turn. After reviewing films and evidence provided Stewards acting under Rule 66(e) relegated MAN FROM BRAAVOS from fourth to sixth placing as a result of shifting in rounding the final turn and racing inside a marker peg and whilst inside that marker peg had improved to the inside of ROCKNROLL SWINGER providing the gelding an unfair advantage. All clear was given on the amended numbers 8-2-10-9-3-1. Driver Joe Taaffe pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving when permitting his gelding to progress into restricted room when not clear to do so and as a result was forced to race inside a marker peg and improved its position. Mr Taaffee was suspended for a period of 14 days which will commence at midnight on 5 August 2022.  Locked wheels with ROCKNROLL SWINGER in the home straight.

BREVITY– Pre-race blood test. 

ROCKNROLL SWINGER– Locked wheels with MAN FROM BRAAVOS in the home straight.

MISTERFIRE– Pre-race blood test. 

ZOLIVER– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to last passing the 1300 metres.  Over raced throughout the event. 

GLENGARRY ROSE NZ– At the request of trainer Roy Roots Jnr the mare was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and as a result was a late scratching at 6.36pm. The mare was reported to have nasal discharge and acting on veterinary advice GLENGARRY ROSE NZ will now be stood down for a period of 10 days and until a veterinary clearance can be provided.

ZIGGY ROCKS– Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab.

ROBBIEWILLMAKEIT– Over raced throughout the event. 

ASHARK– Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1200 metres before finding the  position outside of the leader passing the 950 metres.

 

RACE 6 – OAS TECHNOLOGY PACE – 2030 metres

NASHOLI– Driver Guy Chapple pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that nearing the 200 metres when shifting wider on the track, he was not clear to do so and as a result MYKINDOFFEELING which was racing to his outside locked wheels with SPIRIT INSIDE.  Mr Chapple was suspended for a period of 7 days which will commence at midnight on 5 August 2022. 

SPIRIT INSIDE– Rounding the final turn was severely checked when locking wheels with MYKINDOFFEELING which was taken wider by NASHOLI.

LORD BAZALUP– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the lead passing the 1600 metres.  Despite the efforts of driver Brad Elder was unable to hold the lead passing the 950 metres when AD MAIORA challenged. Held up for clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.  Driver Brad Elder was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that he allowed his gelding to shift up the track when not clear to do so and as a result locked wheels with NIGHTWATCH STAR before being checked and breaking gait over the finishing line.

AD MAIORA– Pre-race blood test.  Improved three wide passing the 1100 metres before finding the lead passing the 950 metres.  Broke it’s off side carrying strap near the 1000 metres. Post-race swab.

NIGHTWATCH STAR– Pre-race blood test.  Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1600 metres.  Locked wheels with LORD BAZALUP over the concluding stages of the event.

MYKINDOFFEELING– Rounds the final turn was severely checked when locking wheels with SPIRIT INSIDE when taken wider NASHOLI.

FOUR STAR LINCOLN– Broke in the score and was out of position at the start.  In view of the gelding’s recent record a warning was issued.

 

RACE 7 – PAC INSURANCE BROKERS PACE – 2030 metres

BEAUTIFUL STRANGER– Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

MISS SERENDIPITY– Worked forward before finding the lead passing the 1600 metres.

SUNNY TOWN– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1700 metres. 

SULTAN FELLA– Pre-race blood test.  Passing the 1900 metres was inconvenienced as a result of COLBY ART breaking gait.

OUR ULTIMATE LIZZY NZ– Pre-race blood test.  Driver Cameron Hart was questioned in relation to the overall performance and seemingly below market expectation of the filly having started a $1.50 favourite and not running on in the home straight to be beaten 16.3 metres. Mr Hart was unable to offer any explanation as to the disappointing performance and considers the filly would take benefit from the run when being first up since 1 July 2022. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

MACS TOMADO NZ– Post-race swab.

COLBY ART– Became unbalanced and broke gait passing the 1900 metres.  In view of the gelding’s recent record COLBY ART will now be required to perform one requalifying trail.

 

RACE 8 – MATES 4 HARNESS PACE – 2030 metres

YELLOW TAXI NZ– Pre-race blood test.  Out of position at the start and no action was taken as the Stewards believed that the gelding had not been given the opportunity of a fair start due to his position to the mobile.  Given the gelding finished in fourth position and in accordance with Rule 15(2), no consideration was given in declaring YELLOW TAXI NZ a non-runner.

RUM DELIGHT NZ– Pre-race blood test. 

TO INFINITYNBEYOND– Commenced to tire passing the 450 metres to be beaten 40.5 metres.

DRAGON TATTOO NZ– Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1550 metres before finding the position outside the leader at the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab.

ULTIMATE CHANCE– Over raced throughout the event.

HEAR THE CALL NZ– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excesses of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

CASUAL RIVER– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excesses of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

LURKING– Trainer Rodney James was fined $100 under Rule 135(2) for failing to have the gelding on the track by the prescribed time.  Stewards delayed all clear to determine if LURKING was afforded a fair start. Upon review of the vision Stewards declared LURKING a non-runner acting under Rule 141(1)(b) as Stewards believed that LURKING was denied a fair start as a result of YELLOW TAXI NZ not being able to fulfil its position. All clear was given on the judge’s numbers 6-4-3-2.

 

RACE 9 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2030 metres

KUDOS MASON– Pre-race blood test.  Post-race swab.

LASSETER SHANNON– Out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver.  In view of the gelding’s recent record a warning was issued.  Driver Breanna Lindsay was reprimanded under Rule 170(1)(a) for dropping her left foot below the sulky rest when activating deafeners. 

OUR CHANCE TODREAM– Pre-race blood test. 

SUMBEACH ART– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to last position at the 1750 metres.  Over raced throughout the event.

RINTIN– Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1450 metres. 

STEEVEN– Over raced throughout the event.  Held up for a clear run in the early stages of the home straight.

OUR BUSHWACKER– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excesses of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Over raced throughout the event.
