Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – WELLS FAMILY 3YO PACE (2190MS)
OFF THE CHARTS (C Lewis) – Had a tendency to over race in the early to mid-stages.
ALL ABOUT AMERICA (K Harper) – Broke gait after the start and will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Also, broke gait racing in the back straight after the start and will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
General – Trainer G. Hayman was interviewed in relation to the late scratching of PETES HONOUR with colic . Ms Hayman explained that she inspected the gelding at approximately 7 am and noted the gelding had not eaten and was standing quietly. A subsequent examination ascertained the gelding to be subdued in its mannerisms and such after a veterinary examination Ms Hayman scratched PETES HONOUR with it receiving veterinary treatment. Ms Hayman also advised the gelding would now have a week off and will start in a race shortly having been in work for close to 4 months.
RACE 2 – NOEL & KAY PACE (2190MS)
THIRTYTHREE TRICKS (K Symington) – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the starting manners of the mare.
SLAMMA ALABAMA (R Warwick) – Driver R Warwick was reprimanded for an unacceptable whip action.
RACE 3 – BILL MEYERS PACE (2190MS)
YA BETTOR FOLLOWME (T Wheeler) – Utilised the sprint lane over the concluding stages to win the event.
RACE 4 – PAUL HERLIHY PACE (1780MS)
ALTA HURRAH NZ (D Harper) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to compete.
RACE 5 – CATHERINE NORRISH PACE (2560SS)
RUSINOL (D Egerton-Green) – Stewards inquired into the reasons behind RUSINOL breaking gait racing out of the front straight on the first occasion. On inquiry it was established that when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion RUSINOL when racing in restricted room, hung in and jumped a marker peg breaking gait for a short distance. A warning was placed on its racing manners.
GLADYS GUGMAN (M Miller) – Beaten 146 metres. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
RACE 6 – PG NORRISH MEMORIAL 4YO+ PACE (2190MS)
FLYNSCOTSMAN was a late scratching at 6.20pm, lame in the near fore. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days and until such time as a Veterinary Certificate of soundness is produced.
RACE 7 – LES & WENDIE PACE (2190MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 8 – ABBIE & LAINEY PACE (2190MS)
THE WAND WAVER (S Suvaljko) – Broke gait for a short distance racing in the front straight on the first occasion. Suffered a gear malfunction when the lugging bar became dislodged from under the mare’s mouth. Driver S Suvaljko reported the horse became unmanageable for some time in the last lap. As a result no action was taken against the filly.
STATE MY CASE (D Egerton-Green) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
