Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
As part of the RWWA Compliance Assurance Activities a number of drivers were randomly selected to be subjected to urine drug testing which will be analysed for the presence of banned substances.
RACE 1 – FLY WITH FLY LIKE AN EAGLE AT ALLWOOD STUD PACE (2620MS)
FOVEAUX MAJOR NZ (M. Miller) – Over raced when positioned outside the leader and was retired from the event racing in the front straight to receive the bell. Driver M. Miller advised that the gelding had been contacting its own sulky and may have got its tongue over the bit in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had choked down. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
BELLS FOOL (D. Harper) - Hung inwards during the score up.
RACE 2 – BREED YOUR GROUP 1 WESTBRED STAR AT ALLWOOD STUD PACE (2190MS)
BRAMANTE STEPS (K. Harper) - Utilised the sprint lane to win the event.
General: Driver S. Suvaljko (MANCAVE) was cautioned and reminded to take more care when racing into the front straight on the first occasion after withstanding the challenge for the lead from BRAMANTE STEPS (K. Harper) and MANCAVE raced roughly for a short period he has then elected to ease the colt as Driver K. Harper was attempting to restrain to obtain cover in advance of VELVET SHADOW (T. Wheeler) and as a result runners following were inconvenienced.
RACE 3 – GET YOUR WASBA STALLION RAFFLE TICKET BEFORE 24 AUGUST PACE (2190MS)
HEZA BEAUTY (M. Ferguson) – Over raced for the majority of the event.
RACE 4 – NORTHAM HONOURS LES MARRIOTT PACE (2190MS)
Driver M. Miller (TENACIOUS GEORGE) was fined $100 under R168(1)(a) for driving in a careless manner when racing in the back straight on the final occasion TENACIOUS GEORGE contacted the offside wheel of TUX AND TAILS (E. Johnson) and broke gait.
IDEAL WHITBY (E. Suvaljko) - Began to give ground racing into the front straight to receive the bell subsequently being retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with atrial fibrillation. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial and the provision of a Veterinary Clearance including the results of an ECG.
RACE 5 – WASBA/ALLWOOD STUD FARM VIRGIL QUEEN CELEVRATION 4YO+ WESTBRED MARES PACE (2190MS)
Driver T. Wheeler (STAR FOR ME) was reprimanded under R156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.
PATRIKIAR (S. Suvaljko) - Utilised the sprint lane to win the event.
RACE 6 – GO FIRST CLASS GO RAMSAYS HORSE TRANSPORT 4YO+ PACE (2190MS)
OUR SURROGATE (E. Suvaljko) - Over raced for the majority of the event when positioned outside the leader, giving ground from the 400 to be beaten 51 metres.
RACE 7 – INSURE WITH PSC BLOODSTOCK SERVICES PACE (2560SS)
CELEBRITY CHEF (C. Playle) - Declared a late withdrawal at 5.04pm after it was reported the mare had cast an off fore plate was found to be lame.
TOTO PICASSO (T. Wheeler) - Over raced in the early stages of the event.
