Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.

RACE 1 – NORTHAM HARNESS RACING CLUB PACE (2190MS)

WHOOPSADAISY (G Schofield) – Was obliged to check racing into the front straight on the final occasion, when Driver E Suvaljko (ON GOLDEN ROAD) raced wider on the track to obtain clear running taking CODENAME ELLIOT (S McDonald) up the track with her.

CODENAME ELLIOT (S McDonald) – Contacted the sulky of ELEGANT EAGLE (B Stanley) and raced roughly in the back straight on the final occasion. Upon review it was established that shortly prior, LOW FLYIN (M Ferguson) had shifted outwards with WHOOPSADAISY (G Schofield) following that movement outwards when positioned to do so, resulting in ELEGANT EAGLE (B Stanley) racing wide for a short distance before shifting inwards to obtain cover behind WHOOPSADAISY as CODENAME ELLIOT (S McDonald) had improved marginally to the inside of that runner causing the above incident. Stewards were of the opinion that no driver had driven in a careless manner and no further action was taken.

General: Trainer T Stampalia was reprimanded under rule HR273(6)(b) for presenting CHRISTOPHANO in gear not approved by the Stewards.

Driver T Stampalia (CHRISTOPHANO) was reprimanded under rule HR156(2)(a) for an unacceptable whip.

RACE 2 – TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET PACE (1780MS)

IMMACHULATE (K Symington) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed minor abrasions to both hocks after it was fractious in the parade ring. The veterinary examination revealed the mare was fit to compete.

RACE 3 – RACING WA CAREERS IN RACING PACE (2190MS)

CONTROL QUEEN (K Harper) – Beaten 105m. A warning was placed against the filly’s racing performance. When considering penalty, Stewards took into consideration the beaten margin from the balance of the field and the individual mile rate.

BROOKVALEGIRL (M Miler) – Over-raced through the early and middle stages. Commenced to give ground from the 600m to be beaten 105. A warning was placed against the filly’s racing performance. When considering penalty, Stewards took into consideration the beaten margin from the balance of the field and the individual mile rate.

RACE 4 – SPRING RACING PACE (2190MS)

HES THUNDER (S Steele) – Commenced to give ground racing into the back straight on the final occasion, sustained an off-side flat tyre when going back through the field.

ADMIRAL DARCY (R Warwick) – Inconvenienced racing into the back straight on the final occasion with HES THUNDER, gave ground and contacted the off-side sulky wheel of that runner flattening the tyre, under the circumstances Stewards took no action. Driver R Warwick was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground prior to the ease out pole.

RACE 5 – SUPPORT LOCAL PACE (2620MS)

WORLDS ABOVE (T Wheeler) – Cast a near hind plate in the preliminary and raced with 3 shoes.

GOODONYA MATE (M Miller) – Galloped out as the start was effected and will be placed outside of the draw in future mobile barrier events.

RACE 6 – DEBS DINER (DIV.1) PACE (1780MS)

KEAYAN JIGSAW (M Tenardi) – Broke gait entering the back straight on the first occasion. On investigation it was observed that the hobble shortening cord malfunctioned and got tangle around the off-side rear leg putting the horse at a severe disadvantage and was retired from the event.

RACE 7 – NHRC BURGER BAR (DIV.2) PACE (1780MS)

TRUNKEY MON STAR (C Playle) – Broke gait racing into the front straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
