RWWA STEWARDS’ SUMMARY REPORT 

MEETING HELD AT NARROGIN ON FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2025 

Weather:  Fine      Track:  Good

Starters:                         W Best (Starter/Gear), K Reeves (Driver/Brands) 

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics. 

RACE 1 – TRIPLE M’S WORKDAYS WITH OZ WESTBRED 3YO PACE (1823MS) 

No racing incidents to report.  

RACE 2 – XXXX GOLD PACE (2242MS)  

I AM SIAM (G Scott) – Out of position at the candy pole.  

General: Driver Mr G Scott was reprimanded under HR162(1)(i) for not being in the correct position at the candy pole. When considering penalty Stewards considered Mr Scott’s excellent record in relation to this rule.  

RACE 3 – YOU’VE GOT THE TABTOUCH PACE (1823MS)  

SANDFORD BART (B Edman) - Momentarily tightened in the back straight on the final occasion. 

General: Driver K Madden (SWANBOURNE SPUNK) accompanied by the RWWA Driving Coach, was cautioned and shown a section of the vision of the back straight on the final occasion where she allowed the gelding to shift in when insufficiently clear of SANFORD BART (B Edman) causing it to be momentarily tightened. 

RACE 4 – JAMES SQUIRES PACE (2242MS)  

PACIFIC EAGLE (C Hamilton) was a late scratching at approximately 9:45 am due to not being able to find a driver.  

General: Driver K Madden (STELLA MAJOR) was fined $100 under HR162(1) (www)(c) for shifting up the track in the front straight on the final occasion in a manner which advantaged DISPATCHER (L Kennelly). 

RACE 5 – WOMEN CAN SAVES LIVES PACE (2242MS)  

All clear was delayed by Stewards due to the photo finish malfunctioning and after reviewing the official race footage in consultation with the judge, the placings as semaphored were subsequently confirmed.   

EASTON QUALITY NZ (A Markham) – Not in position at the candy pole.  

General: Driver A Markham was cautioned under HR162(1)(i) for not being in position at the candy pole.   

RACE 6 – NARROGIN LIQUOR BARONS NR 30 – 60 DISCRETIONARY HCP PACE (2223SS)  

TEPELO STAR (A Shepherd) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start.  

SMOKEYS SHADOW (A Markham) – Galloped at the start. Will now be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.  

THE DARK NIGHT (L Harper) – Galloped at the start. Will continue to be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.  

An inquiry was opened and adjourned into the reason for SMOKEYS SHADOW (Ajay Markham) racing roughly leaving the back straight on the final occasion. Evidence was taken from Driver Ajay Markham accompanied by the RWWA Driving Coach, and Driver S Simms (TELL ITIN HEAVEN). After taking initial statements and reviewing the vision, the inquiry was adjourned until a time and date to be fixed.   

An inquiry was also opened into the conduct of Driver A Markham (CRY HAVOC NZ) towards Driver S Simms (TELL ITIN HEAVEN) following the warm down lap with statements taken from both drivers. The inquiry was subsequently adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.  

Further, Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed in relation to the reason for SMOKEYS SHADOW (A Markham) racing inside marker pegs entering the front straight on the first occasion.  

RACE 7 – TABTOUCH SUPPORTS NARROGIN RACING WESTBRED 2YO PACE (2242MS)  

No racing incidents to report.
