When questioned in relation to his tactics during the middle stages of the event where he elected to place his drive in the three wide line in an endeavour to improve his position, Mr Harper put forward that after the slow first quarter of 33 and DIAMOND DANCE NZ (T. Wheeler) being driven in a manner where he may relinquish his position to obtain cover, however after commencing the movement that runner began to over-race obligating ALTO EGO to race three wide thereafter. Upon consideration, no further action was taken.
General: Stewards interviewed Driver J Rigoli (ABBEE BEE) in relation to an incident racing out of the back straight on the first occasion where it appeared JUST A PET (T. Bryant) and JAMIE KIM (D. Harper) were momentarily placed in restricted racing room. After viewing the official patrol footage and acting on their own observations it was established that as ABBEE BEE commenced to shift inwards INFRINGEMENTNOTICE (C. Suvaljko) who was racing in advance had begun to ease to race outside the leader as JUST A PET was being driven forward in an attempt to establish a position behind that runner. After considering all factors, Stewards were of the opinion that no one driver had driven in a careless manner, however Mr Rigoli was reminded of his obligations and instructed to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.
