AMERICAN MONARCH (L Harper) - Inconvenienced when a runner broke gait leaving the back straight on the final occasion.
General: An inquiry was held into the reason why BOBBY WATERHOUSE (A Markham) broke gait which and inconvenienced several runners leaving the back straight on the final occasion. Driver A Markham stated that the gelding was having its first start for the stable and was hanging in under pressure when tiring. Ms Madden (JOHNNY LOMBO) advised that she had an advantage over Mr A Markham and was trying to ease him wider so she could commence her run. When assessing this incident, Stewards found no driver to be careless in their actions and a warning was issued against the racing manners of BOBBY WATERHOUSE.
RACE 5 – NARROGIN OBSERVER DISCRETIONARY HCP PACE (2636SS)
A false start was declared on the first occasion when the 10m strand failed to release. Stewards in consultation with the starter made the decision to hand hold the strand for the restart. The false start resulted in a delay of five minutes.
ALFA PRINCE (S Young) - Will continue to be placed outside of the draw for future standing start events following the Starter reporting that the gelding failed to face forward and kept turning prior to the start.
CRY HAVOC NZ (A Markham) - Galloped out and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.
RACE 6 – WHITE CLAW PACE (2242MS)
The start was delayed approximately 3.5 minutes due to the false start in the previous event and the short turn around between race times.
