STEWARDS REPORT FOR MELTON- SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER 2024

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – ALABAR NMW PACE (2240 MS)
SPORTS WRACK- pre race swab samples taken. Locked wheels with THE IRON DUKE upon entering the home straight.
GOOD DAY- driver Mick Carbone was cautiuoned for the manner in which he shifted out near the 700 metres, briefly inconveniencing ROCKNALLOVERTHEWORLD.
THE IRON DUKE- trainer David Miles was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of his multiple runners. Locked wheels with SPORTS WRACK for some distance upon entering the home straight.
QUIET STORM- held up around the home turn before using the sprint lane.
COTCHINELLIE- unsuccessfully contested for the lead then broke when restrained into the first turn. Placed on his last chance to race truly. A post race veterinary examination indicated no apparent abnormalities.
BANKSOFTHEMURRAY- checked by the galloping COTCHINELLIE into the first turn, then caught wide on the track before being restrained to the rear of the field.
WEMADE FREO- held up around the home turn, then inconvenienced and broke as a result of SPORTS WRACK and THE IRON DUKE locking wheels early in the home straight.
ANOTHER NIEN- held up early in the home straight, then inconvenienced as a result of SPORTS WRACK and THE IRON DUKE locking wheels.
ROCKNALLOVERTHEWORLD- improved three wide from the 900 metres and briefly inconvenienced near the 700 metres.
WOTDIDUSAAAY- inconvenienced racing into the first turn.
HEAVENLY GIPSY- trainer Craig Demmler was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the mare accurately recorded.
RACE 2 – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS PACE (1720 MS)
RAKERO SLAMMER NZ- hung out in the score up, then again hung out as driver Jack Laugher attempted to shift the gelding down into the sprint lane upon entering the home straight.
WHERES SEGGY- underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations due to not having raced for twelve months- no abnormalities apparent. Gave ground over the final 400 metres.
TIGER BAND WAGON- pre race and post race swab samples taken.
ARGGGHHH- driver David Miles was cautioned for failing to have the gelding in position at the start.
DHAULAGIRI NZ- trainer Matthew Horsnell was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the gelding accurately recorded. Fractious coming out of the pre start circle, then not fully in position at the start- warning issued.
RACE 3 – AUSTRALIAN PACING GOLD PACE (1720 MS)
YOUNG BLUEY- pre and post race race swab samples taken.
TILLY JANE- trainer Jess Tubbs was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly accurately recorded. Raced without cover throughout.
HUGO ROCKS- caught wide early and restrained to the rear of the field.ld up and unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
RADIUS- held up around the home turn before using the sprint lane. Driver Jackie Barker was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 156(3) for exceeding the permitted number of whip uses over the final 200 metres.
RACE 4 – THE ARGENT FREE FOR ALL (2240 MS)
EXOTIC BUSHRANGER- hung in under pressure nearing the finish, then placed in restricted room as TRIPLE EIGHT NZ hung in abruptly at the finish.
BETTOR ISOLATE- used the sprint lane, then tightened nearing the finish.
KOSIMO- held up early, then used the sprint lane and was tightened approaching the finish, checked then broke just after the crossing the finish line.
JILLIBY SYLVESTER- pre race swab samples taken.
TRIPLE EIGHT NZ- trainer Jess Tubbs was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of her multiple runners. Hung in abruptly at the finish despite the efforts of driver James Herbertson. Post race swab samples taken.
CANTFINDABETTORMAN NZ- caught wide into the first turn before being restrained to the rear.
RACE 5 - LOGICAL STAFFING SOLUTIONS TATLOW STAKES (2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS) (LISTED CLASSIC) (2240 MS)
GOLDEN TRIBE- pre race swab samples taken. Paced roughly after the start. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
SAO PAULO SIMBA- trainer MIchael Stanley was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the gelding accurately recorded. Hung in under pressure near the 200 metres.
INSIDER TRADING- hung in near the 500 metres, then when directed into the sprint lane hung in abruptly and raced inside marker pegs before being corrected. Given the colts’ racing manners and recent history he was placed on his last chance to race truly.
SCHWARZ- broke free of interference racing into the first turn- placed on his last chance to race truly. Post race swab samples taken.
THE VILLAIN- pulled hard in running then gave ground over the concluding stages.
TORQUE POWER- held up around the home turn.
JETTER SON- tightened and contacted marker pegs near the 200 metres.
HESITATE- broke in the score up, out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Post race swab samples taken.
RACE 6 – THE ANGELIQUE(LISTED CLASSIC) (2240 MS)
JILLIBY ADORE- trainer Margaret Lee was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of her multiple runners.
CLASSIC ANGELINA- pre race swab samples taken. Held up around the home turn.
SEW WHAT- pre and post race swab samples taken. Hung in around the home turn and contacted marker pegs. Driver Jackie Barker was fined $200 pursuant to AHRR 156(3) for exceeding the permitted number of whip uses over the final 200 metres.
YOUNGGIFTEDANDBLACK- came under pressure before the bell, then pulled up in the back straight. A post race veterinary examination indicated that the mare had atrial fibrillation. As this was the mare’s second occurrence she was stood down from racing pursuant to AHRR 101(2)(b) for a period of 28 days and until the provision of a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG exam. Once the veterinary clearance has been submitted the mare must then complete two satisfactory trials.
JILLIBY WILLOW- post race swab samples taken.
RACE 7– LOGICAL STAFFING SOLUTIONS TATLOW STAKES(2YO FILLIES) (LISTED CLASSIC) (2240 MS)
SHARP INTEREST- pre race swab samples taken. Tired to be beaten 138 metres and underwent a post race veterinary examination inclusive of endoscopy which indicated Grade 2 EIPh and grade 1 mucous, indicative of a respiratory infection. The filly was stood down from racing pending a veterinary certificate of fitness to race.
BONDI LASS- pre race swab samples taken. Held up and inconvenienced around the home turn.
LILLY LOTUS- post race swab samples taken. Driver Mark Pitt was fined $200 pursuant to AHRR 156(3) for exceeding the permitted number of whip uses over the final 200 metres.
LEAVITT- post race swab samples taken.
CARRAMAR TITMUS- pulled hard in running, then tired, hung in and broke free of interference on the final turn. A post race veterinary examination indicated Grade 1 EIPH and that the filly had gotten down on her bumpers behind. The filly was placed on her last chance to race truly for breaking.
RACE 8 – NEVELE R STUD 3YO GRADUATE PACE (2240 MS)
OUR LUCIANO- post race swab samples taken.
COLLECTIVE WORKS- pre race swab samples taken.
STORMRYDER- held up around the home turn before using the sprint lane.
NATHAN STREET- broke in the score up, out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. The colt also hung in under pressure. Trainer Freddy Taiba reported that the colt had lost his off fore shoe in running.
THE STEEL DRAGON- out of position at the start then paced roughly after the start- will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.
