STEWARDS REPORT FOR MELTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

 

RACE 1 – IRT KOALA KING FREE FOR ALL (1720 MS)

NO RACING INCIDENTS

RACE 2 – TAB WE’RE ON PACE (1720 MS)

THE BEACH FANTASY – Held up making the turn into the home straight. Driver Jack Laugher was fined $100 under AHRR 156(3) for unapproved whip use, for applying the whip to his drive on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m.

FINAL COLLECT NZ– Broke gait on the first turn and will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 3 – RAYMOND JOHN MCNAB MEMORIAL PACE (1720 MS)

HEAVENLY CHARM – Inconvenienced making the turn into the home straight when held up behind the tiring NONPARREIL.

NONPARREIL – Gave ground in the final lap. A post-race veterinary examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

HES CHARLIES ANGEL– Had a gear failure in the score up resulting in a false start.

 

RACE 4 – HYGAIN METRO MAIDEN (2240 MS)

CLEAR LEFT NZ– Raced wide in the early stages.

AL DA RAGE– Raced three wide in the middle stages and gave ground in the final lap.

RACE 5 – ALABAR METRO MARES MAIDEN PACE (1720 MS)

OZZIE JOY– Trainer Julie Douglas was cautioned for failing to declare the correct gear for the mare.

TALLARAS SHADOW- Trainer Jason Ainsworth was cautioned for failing to declare the correct gear for the mare. Held up over the concluding stages.

OUR SADIE KAY– When questioned regarding the run Driver Kate Gate stated the filly has worked well leading into the race, however it never travelled well in running and disappointed when placed under pressure.

SASSYOLA– In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (200+ starts) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations.  Both examinations revealed no significant abnormalities.

LOTTIE MOON NZ– Held up making the turn into the home straight.

STYLISH GEM– Held up over the concluding stages.

RACE 6 – APG METRO MAIDEN TROT (2240 MS)

INMYDREAMS- Driver Charlie Borg was fined $200 under AHRR 156(2)(a) for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

AARDIES PEAK NZ– Broke gait on the first turn and again in the back straight on the final occasion. The mare was placed on its last chance to race tractably.

JAZSPUR– Began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw at its future mobile starts.

KYVALLEY PIERRO– Gave ground in the final lap. When questioned regarding the run Driver Chris Alford stated that the gelding travelled only fairly and trotted rough in its action. He further stated that the gelding had not returned to its good early form following an injury which required a lengthy spell

BERRIESANDCHERRIES- Driver Donna Castles was fined $100 under AHRR 156(3) for unapproved whip use, for applying the whip to her drive on more occasions than are permitted over the final 200m.

BUSLIN BRODY– Pulled hard in running.

 

RACE 7 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (1720 MS)

EBONYS AVENGER– Inconvenienced when held up behind the tiring MERCENARY. Broke under pressure in the home straight.

TWEEDLEDEE NZ– Pulled hard in running.

MERCENARY– Pulled hard in running. Gave ground in the final lap. When questioned Driver Chris Alford stated that the gelding never travelled well and appeared to be not comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore. It will now be stood down for a period of 10 days and will require a veterinary clearance before being permitted to start again.

 

RACE 8 – BERALDO COFFEE 2MW PACE (2240 MS)

NO RACING INCIDENTS

 

RACE 9 – NEVELE R STUD 3YO PACE

ILLUSTRIOUS– Gave ground in the final lap.

THESUNANDTHEMOON– Trainer Alex Ashwood was cautioned for failing to declare the correct gear on the filly. Over raced and pulled hard in the early stages.
