STEWARDS REPORT FOR MELTON

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – HYLAND HARNESS COULOURS TROT (2240 MS)

ALDERBARAN VERA– A pre-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Broke gait after the start and will now be placed outside the draw at its future mobile starts. Held up making the turn into the home straight and its bell boots became dislodged in the home straight.

DON’T CARE- In accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy (Not Raced 12mth+) it underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations.  Its post-race examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. It will now be stood down pending a veterinary clearance before being permitted to start again.

SACRED MOUNTAIN NZ– Inconvenienced shortly after the start.

REVELSTOKE– Held up making the turn into the home straight.

SUNDONS COURAGE- Held up making the turn into the home straight. Broke gait near the 100m.

PARISAN ARTISTE - Inconvenienced shortly after the start.

ROCKINWITHATTITUDE– Raced three wide in the middle stages.

ONE OVER ALL NZ– Raced three wide in the early stages.

 

RACE 2 – DYNAMIC PRINT GROUP POPULAR ALM FREE FOR ALL (2240 MS)

KOWALSKI ANALYSIS – Hung in and broke gait making the first turn. The gelding was placed on its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed no abnormalities.

KOSIMO – Raced wide in the early stages.

BACH NZ – Trainer Kyle Marshall was cautioned for failing to declare gear for the gelding. Inconvenienced on the first turn. Broke gait in running and will now be stood down for 10 days and a satisfactory trial before being permitted to start again. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed a Grade II EIPH.

HELLUVA NZ – Checked and raced roughly on the first turn.

BEYOND DELIGHT – Severely checked and broke gait on the first turn. Checked in the final lap.

LIKE A WILDFIRE NZ – Raced three wide in the middle stages.

TANGO TARA NZ – Gave ground in the final lap.

 

RACE 3 – BENSTUD QUEEN OF THE PACIFIC (GROUP 1) (2760 MS)

AARDIES EXPRESS – Hung in and contacted maker pegs making the turn into the home straight.

ILLAVABUBBLES NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages.

MAJOR DELIGHT – Raced three wide in the early stages. Gave ground in the final lap. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed a Grade I EIPH.

ISTHISJUSTFANTASY – Raced wide in the early stages. Held up in the home straight.

 

RACE 4 – WOODLANDS STUD VICTORIA DERBY (GROUP 1) (2760 MS)

OLLIVICI NZ – Driver Chris Lang was fined $100 under AHRR 162(1)(i) for being out of position passing the candy pole.

ALDEBARAN ZEUS – Held up making the turn into the home straight and again over the concluding stages.

IM READY JET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed an ulcerated eye. The mare will now be stood down for a period of 6 days.

KEAYANG CHUCKY – Raced wide in the early stages.

HARRY STAMPER NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages and broke gait on the first turn.

QUEEN ELIDA NZ – Hung in making the turn into the home straight.

CALLMETHEBREEZE FRA – Raced roughly and broke gait in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

 

RACE 5 – ALDEBARAN PARK BILL COLLINSTROTTERS SPRINT (GROUP 1) (1720 MS)

HES FROM HEAVEN NZ – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

MIKI TO SUCCESS – Raced three wide in the early stages.

NATHAN STREET – Pulled hard in the score up. Raced fiercely in running and a warning issued.

KINGMAN NZ – Held up over the concluding stages.

BAY OF BISCAY – Raced three wide in the early stages.

NO NOTTHEBUTTONS – Trainer Emma Stewart was fines $200 under AHRR 273(6)(b) for failing to declare gear for the gelding.

RACE 6 – SPORTSBET VICTORIA CUP (GROUP 1)_(2240 MS)

BETTER ECLIPSE – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY – Tired, beaten 61m. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed no significant abnormalities.

MAJOR MOTH – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

CURLY JAMES – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

PERFECT CLASS – Inconvenienced in the final lap.

NERANO NZ – Hung in the score up and a warning issued. Inconvenienced in the final lap and held up making the turn into the home straight.

SWAYZEE – Raced three wide in the early stages.

CAPTAIN RAVISHING - Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

 

 

RACE 7 – PRYDE’S EASIFEED VICTORIA OAKS FINAL (GROUP 1) (2760 MS)

COASTAL BABE NZ - Trainer Steven Reid was fines $100 under AHRR 273(6)(b) for failing to declare gear for the filly.

AARDIE B MIKI NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

VAGUE BEAUTY – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

LOOK LIKE DIAMONDS – Raced three wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced approaching the bell and shifted inwards.

KISS NZ – Tighten after the start.

THE ANSWER – Hung in after the start despite the efforts of its driver and was placed on its last chance in the draw. Hung inwards in running and placed on its last chance to race truly. Raced three wide in the early stages. Held up making the turn into the home straight.

JILLIBY ILLUMINATE NZ – Tighten, locked wheels, checked and broke gait after the start. Held up making the turn into the home straight.

STITCHED UP DAN – Tighten and locked wheels after the start.

EUREKA JO – Pulled hard in running.

 

RACE 8 – LIVING LEGENDS PACE (1720 MS)

SHANLOU NZ – Raced three wide in the middle stages.

RAKERO SLAMMER NZ – Tired, beaten 70m and a warning issued. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopic scope revealed no significant abnormalities,

YOUNGGIFTEDANDBLACK NZ – Held up making the turn into the home straight.

LE BELLE BIJOUX – Inconvenienced in the final lap.

RACE 9 – CATANACH’S JEWELLERS VICTORIA TROTTERS OAK (GROUP 1) (2240 MS)

LINK IN BIO – Raced three wide in the early stages.

 

DREAMS OF LOVE – Raced wide in the early stages. Tired in the final lap, no action taken.

KARAKAJACK TOOTH – Out of position after racing rough and was placed on its last chance in the draw. Broke gait in running.

 

MAORIS MAC – Driver Josh Aiken was caution for half carting and fined $100 under AHRR 156(7) for using his whip outside the confines of the sulky.

VIOLET STANFORD – Raced three wide in the middle stages.
