Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – CLUB AQUARIUS FITNESS MAIDEN PACE (2190 MS)
Race start time amended to 12.31pm.
YOU GIVE ME CHILLS– Tired to be beaten 58m into 5th placing, no action taken.
WHATTA YA UP TAA– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m, placed on last chance to race truly.
BETTERBWATCHING– Inconvenienced passing the 600m by Whatta Ya Up Taa.
IMA TIGGY TIGER– Checked and broke gait passing the 600m.
ELISSAS DELIGHT– Pulled hard middle stages. Checked by Whatta Ya Up Taa passing the 600m.
RACE 2 – THE BUTCHER MILDURA PACE (2190 MS)
General – The all clear was delayed to allow Driver Connor Clarke (The Devil Rolls On) to review footage of the home straight. After doing so, Mr.Clarke took no further action and the all clear was given on the judge’s placings.
SOLVE THE CRIME – Fractious in the early stages of the score up before breaking gait. The filly was out of position at the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.
THE DEVIL ROLLS ON– Driver Connor Clarke was queried regarding the circumstances resulting in the eventual winner Cornelia (Ellen Tormey) obtaining an inside run in the home straight. Mr.Clarke stated the mare had a tendency to hang out under pressure despite his actions. After reviewing all available video footage, Stewards were satisfied that Mr.Clarke had fulfilled his obligations in attempting to maintain a straight course in the home straight. Mr.Clarke has recommended gear alterations to the stable prior to the next start and a warning was issued against the racing manners of The Devil Rolls On. Trainer Robert Nolan requested that the mare undergo a post-race veterinary examination which subsequently revealed no abnormality.
CORNELIA– Held up for clear running on the final turn. Obtained run to the inside of The Devil Rolls On in the home straight.
RACE 3 – MCDONALDS IRYMPLE & MILDURA PACE (2190 MS)
General – A false start was declared when Rimu Valley broke in the latter stages of the score up, checking Ozzie Daybreak.
RIMU VALLEY NZ – Broke in the score up and caused a false start. The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events. Pulled up at the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had suffered atrial fibrillation. In accordance with AHR Rule 101C (2)(a) the gelding will now be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and must undergo an ECG prior to trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.
CARLISLE CRUISER– Gave ground to be beaten 48m into 6th placing.
AVOCA BLUES – Remained on course for 3 hours post-race in accordance with HRV Elevated TCO2 Policy.
KEAYANG SHADOWBOX– Pulled hard middle stages.
OZZIE DAYBREAK– Checked by Rimu Valley NZ at the 900m.
RACE 4 – PET & PRODUCE MILDURA PACE (1790 MS)
MY ULTIMATE BILLY NZ – Pulled hard middle stages.
RIO ROCK – Remained on course for 3 hours post-race in accordance with HRV Elevated TCO2 Policy.
ALL DA RAGE – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
RACE 5 – AUSTRALIAN PACING GOLD PACE (1790 MS)
JILLIBY SOVEREIGN – Pulled hard early stages prior to surrendering lead at the 1400m. Tired to be beaten 90m into last placing and now on last chance to race competitively.
DIAMOND KRUSHER– Inconvenienced by Jilliby Sovereign approaching the 400m.
ALOHA PRINCESS– Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start.
RACE 6 – PARK DOUGLAS PRINTING MAIDEN PACE (2190 MS)
ALLGOOD VINNIE – Obtained inside run at the 600m. Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 46m.
NAUGHTY BET– Tired from the 500m to be beaten 61m into last placing, warning issued.
ROOSTER PHILLIPS – Trainer Naomi Kerr was cautioned for failing to have the gear of the gelding accurately recorded.
DESTINY KEPT– Broke gait on the first turn when clear of interference and placed on last chance to race truly.
LIVELY JOE – Inconvenienced by Naughty Bet at the 500m.
STYLISTIK– Shifted out at the 600m, allowing Allgood Vinnie to obtain an inside run. The gelding was placed on last chance to race truly.
RACE 7 – PFD FOOD SERVICES PACE (1790 MS)
CHOGI NZ – Held Up for clear running on the final turn.
AMERICAN BOXER– Driver Ryan Backhouse was fined $200 under AHR Rule 162(1)(www)(iii) for allowing his drive to shift ground in the home straight, providing the eventual winner Angels Watching with an inside run.
ANGELS WATCHING– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to obtaining an inside run in the home straight.
ESCOBAR– Held up for clear running on the final turn.
RACE 8 –ZILZIE WINES PACE (2190 MS)
General – Stewards inquired into the circumstances surrounding Apology Accepted (Ellen Tormey) falling in the home straight. Evidence was taken from drivers Connor Clarke (Rocking Wroxton), Corey Johnson (Grenade) and Ms.Tormey. After considering all evidence, using their own observations and reviewing all available video footage, Stewards established that approaching the 100m, Apology Accepted was racing in restricted room with Rocking Wroxton positioned ahead shifting out slightly under pressure and Grenade to its outside which was hanging in. Ms.Tormey then restrained in an attempt to find clear racing room, and when doing so made contact to the offside sulky wheel of Rocking Wroxton, resulting in Apology Accepted racing roughly. Following that contact, Apology Accepted then shifted out and made contact to the near side sulky wheel of Grenade and fell as a result. Stewards could not find any one horse or driver were responsible for the fall of Apology Accepted and no further action was taken.
HES A MODERN BOY – Tired to be beaten 100m into 10th placing and will now be on its last chance to race competitively.
ROBERT CROCKA – (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy. Neither check revealed any abnormality.
GRENADE– Inconvenienced by Hes A Modern Boy at the 400m.
STONEBRIDGE STAR– (200+starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy. Neither check revealed any abnormality.
APOLOGY ACCEPTED– Fell at the 100m. Received treatment for an abrasion to the right foreleg and has been stood down from racing for 5 days and must obtain a veterinary clearance. Driver Ellen Tormey was cleared of any injury.
RACE 9 – CLUB MERBEIN PACE (2190 MS)
GLITZY ALL OVER – Held up for clear running on the final turn.
FLYIN TOMMY – Arrived on course 4 hours pre-race in accordance with HRV Elevated TCO2 Policy.
CALF PEN NZ– Driver Shane Smith replaced Ellen Tormey.
WATCHTHECLOCK– Pulled hard middle stages. Gave ground to be beaten 31m into last placing.
